amazing how the time pass, i started drawing watching your videos in argentina on 2012 or 2011? dont know, i didnt speak a litle bit of english and i used to get angry because i couldn't draw like you, now is different even have my style.
Its the story youve heard 1,000 times but your videos where my start and now 10 years down the line I'm in my first year of illustration at uni...Its nice to come back and actually learn and apply the knowledge from these videos more effectivly than when i was a child lol
Markcrilley is one of my all time favourite youtube artist. While the legendary Leonardo Da Vinci is my all time favourite artist in general. Both are very different artist with their own extraodinary goals.
The buildings in both look like cardboard cutouts because of the lack of proper perspective in the alley. It looks like that alley is only recessed 2 feet deep with the house and car in the background looking like a Hollywood matte painting directly behind the assassin to give the illusion of depth. Sorry if you intentionally did it that way for some reason. And I know this was a video about composition and not perspective. I can't help but nitpick things.
I’d say it’s definitely a choice, be it artistic or for the sake of quickly demonstrating the focus on panel arrangement, as he’s posted informative videos on proper perspective and background details in the past.
@@someonesane Yeah I don't mean any harm by pointing it out because I know he's talented and I like what he's doing. It's kind of like if you're at a restaurant with a good friend and they've got some food stuck in their teeth, do you tell them or not? And would they want you to tell them? I don't know about you guys, but me and my art buddies are always busting each other's slop and shortcuts and ragging on anything we can catch, but it's all in good fun. It keeps you sharp. When I show my friends a piece of work, I know that if there's some shenanigans in there, they're gonna find 'em. And that's valuable feedback. On the other hand, if they can't find anything to complain about and they're staring at that thing, I know I've achieved something and I know their appreciation is valid and honest. Nobody wants people to just glance at their work and say "wow that's great." It's gotta be genuine, and so I try to be genuine to other artists because I know how valuable that authenticity is when it comes to talking about the work. At least to me.
