Yep i never liked this paint job, i always liked it in the regular paint job with the silver side showing but you are right i only seen the white paint scheme on mci-12 models. I got two of them myself there on the way.

The MCI MC12 in the 90’s from 1991-98 looks great but I personally do a retro theme from the 70’s which MCI MC9 was introduced

That's a nice bus I have two but I think they should've waited to put that paint scheme on the MC-12 when it comes out the original MC- 9 didn't have it.

The MCI MC9 and MC12 are mostly similar but different the only thing you can tell the difference is the front roof line the 96-102A3 taillights and the luggage racks but rest of it is similar

Did the real Greyhound MC-9 ever wear that paint scheme? I thought it was the D buses and MC-12 only.
Comparing the 9 to the 12 underneath the 12 had the suspension and air bags from the 96A3 and it was a better system. It also had the larger A/C condenser off the 96 and 102A3 to cool better with the new 134a freon. Inside the steerng wheel was the smooth grip wheel from the 96 and 102 and was easier on the hands. 😀

I've seen this bus labeled on Ebay and other places as a 9, but I can't imagine them still having 9s in service long enough to use this scheme. I always thought this was more for the 102D3s and the MC12s that were still in service. That said, Iconic Replicas seems to be rather accurate from what I've seen.
