We need an album filled exclusively with these chill jams.
100% agree ❤
with Yussef Dayes drumming.
Since I discovered Jamiroquai and this channel, I've been listening to and playing lots of funk/soul and jazz, and I've really improved as a young musician. Thanks for your inspiring advice and playing Matt!
“I’m just gonna play about and show you some of these synth sounds.”
*Proceeds to conjure up some of the most beautiful music ever made and transports you to a whole new plane of existence*
Matt is such an inspiration to watch and listen to. Thank God for RUclips where we can be exposed to such artistry from all over the world.
I want to buy an album with all of these short pieces fleshed out into full songs. This is some serious "takes me to another place where life is better" music.
I love that digital glitch you get when digital tries to do it's own thing. Honestly, 3rd Wave is at the top of my dream-synth list.
Fantastic, as always, Matt. Thank you so much for showcasing the 3rd Wave in situ. Nobody can do it like you. You are the zen master of evocative.
Thanks guys, great synth!
Thanks Matt. very relaxing music, I could listen to this all day long.
Mr. Johnson, I know this kind of video may be time-consuming, but it's wonderful! Hope you make more! Much love from Brasil 🙏🏼
I can’t describe what I am seeing and how it makes me feel. But you always seem to hit the right notes. Every single time. Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Mr. Johnson.
I’ll always just come to listen the amazingly soothing playing. Matt Johnson’s playing is an oasis in the middle of a desert.
The 2 main reasons why we love Mr. Johnson's video:
1.We will never be skilled enough to compose and play like he does. So, it's inspiring to listen to him play.
2. We will never be rich enough to have a Moog One, a 3rd wave, a Vintage Vibe, a Jupiter-8 and an OBX in the same room.
It's Digital DREAMS all around..
I can hear an epic lofi hiphop album that could be made by sampling just the audio in this video 😍😍
Wow! Not only are you an amazing player Matt, you’re a genius with instrumentation
Thanks Matt. You're doing wonderful things for synth education. The love never left me from the first time around!
06:20 is why people will buy this synth. Love your channel!
Este hombre es humildad y pura brillantes!!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Wow that Vintage Vibe and the not-vintage PPG really go well together. Good playing and tasteful synth programming sure seem to help the equation.
👌👍from kollam kerala God's own country
This demo is awesome... as always, MAtt!
Very trippy video!
When I see these chromatic abberations effect, I think that "maybe I've drink a bit more than necessary" :))
Thanks for this musical moments.
Another super gorgeous demo!
What an amazing player. And this synth is brilliant!
It's so cool listening and watching you playing this dreamy stuff
Thank you very much. That was delightful.
Amazing sounds and playing!
Thanks ! Very pleasant vibes, as always. You're great !
Amazing sounds! Thank you for sharing!
This combination of sounds is heaven on earth…
Sounds amazing.
Crazy & Fantastic 👌🎧💚🤍❤️
Brilliant, Matt. Keep 'em coming!
Maravillosa música, realmente eres un referente y lo que haces inspira mucho. Muchas Gracias Matt.
So true to the original PPG Wave but also pushing the boundaries of the original concept. Thanks for these lovley jams!
This part is awesome.👌🎧💚🤍❤️
toujours aussi bien ces demos
3rd wave is a lovely synth, a worthy succsessor to the PPG Nice to hear it in context too.
Wonderful. You are a gifted magician/musician 😊
Awesome cheers mate very inspiring!!!
You weren't kidding about dreams. That all sounded very dreamy - and amazing.
Beautiful 👌
Fantastic I am a great fan of yours!!!!
An awful lot of sonic power in that room
this is awesome
Amazing stuff as usual!
God damn, what a dream combo, moog one + a 3rd wave would be a dream, I'd wouldn't be bored for years!
AHH DUDE....totally submerged in the sublime...goowy chewy sounds to go with my state of bliss...thank you man.
Superb as per.
when the Prophet 12 came out 10 years ago, the world just wasn't ready for a digital synth with analog filters
You are a MONSTER player ! - I love youre patches - and this channel actually got me to re-listen old Jamiroqai song , with fresh ears - - i didnt expect to dig it , cause i wrote it off many years ago - but.... either age changed my ears , or just paying attention to your playing - and i can now enjoy Jamiroqai , for what its worth - 🙂
You're going to need a bigger house when the Super Gemini gets in🤣🤣
100% agreed, Matt: combining wavetable synths with warm analogue keyboards is so rewarding. Even if an analogue synth alone sounds somehow underwhelming like a MonoPoly in paraphonic mode - as soon as it is contrasted, i.e. layered with my Iridium, it suddenly begins to shine! Of course a P5/P6/OB6 makes things even better.
Very nice LoFi patch at 6:50, btw.
Indeed, as mentioned before, that palette of sounds would merit its own album. Nice. 🎉
Very nice tunes Matt.
Real treat Matt, take it easy.
My hero.
Love it!
I like when the 3rd Wave makes a sound like a puff of digital steam
completely outside this planetary system , perhaps in a galaxy far far away , thank you master!
Nice playing Matt. 👏👍
Same actually - thanks Matt!
That sounds awesome Matt! You could do a whole Ambient album with that, you already have some really nice tunes in this video ;) Thanks for the discovery.
Yep was thinking the same, an album of this would be an instant buy! Personally I love digital sounds, and this was a great demo. Obviously everyone loves analogue too but the point about using both was bang on.
@@VirtualModular yeah so true! Especially the intro song of this video, the song is already there. The one @ 2:13 is awesome too!
Beautiful and inspirational, as always. Hope you've got a reason to come and play in Sydney one day!
Dreamy 😍 Reminds me a bit of Chip Davis and the later Fresh Aire/Manheim Steamroller albums
Ohhh my goodness I’m on some strange planet bro I love these keyboards and the sounds are fantastic bro!!!! I need to put some bets behind these!!!!❤👍🏾👍🏾💯💯💯💯🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾
Truly beautiful playing. I love the demos and how you integrated the various other synths. As an original JP-8 owner, M1-16, Rev4-P10 and OB-X8 I can say analog is great but the 3rd Wave is an exceptional digital synth. Probably my favorite modern digital along with my Virus Ti2 and Waldorf Iridium. I just may have to snag one of those Vintage Vibe EP's ! Love your playing and informative synth videos. Please 'em coming !
some combinations of analog and digital really do gel fantastically together. My current favorites are the MKS70(Vecoven and I know DCOs, but still)) and the Modal002. Both still kind of new, but what a combination 🥰🥰
Thank you Matt! Some absolutely great sounds and of course great playing. Keep it coming. We've got to add some of these to the factory presets. 😄
Thanks Bob
Good to see you back after the news you received, I am sorry about that. We all can learn from all experiences. Hugs from Chile and I wish you all the best!.
Thank you, life goes on!
Great 🙋♂️🎹
Perfect synth in the hands of a perfect player.
I always drink something like my... analog rose petal wine :) I don't like synthetic drinks although they're highly available at low prices in our city.
But... I do like some small synths like MicroFreak.
いつも素敵な音楽楽しませて頂いてますマミー❤元気なのかしら
🏆
Matt Johnson, Yussef Dayes, and Oscar Jerome on vocals / guitar!
💎💎💎
Listening to the cricket with Matt on loop 👍
haha I'm listening too!
Hi Matt, beautiful soundscapes and playing. Reminds me a lot of David Sylvian. This Synthesizer is a dream-machine for me. Incredible stereo-field, depths and dimension; oozing with character. Kicks everything Waldorf ever made in the digital realm. I am not Matt, I am Mats, so I will keep on dreaming - this beautiful machine is simply uneffordable! 😄
Sylvian was a big formative influence for me
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai Very special musician; I love his music since I was a teen. I appreciate he got more into experimentation the older he became. I once saw him live and that was the best sounding setup on a stage I ever heard. Great he could influence you. :) Enjoy :)
1:24 to 2:08 sounds like a lost piece from the bladerunner soundtrack or something
5:37 Babe, I’m leaving, I must be on my way, the time is drawing near.
Matt )) show on Prague Metronome was insane
thank u !
It was fun!
Wavetable synthesis always reminds me of 80s Rush.
Hi Mat, I saw you yesterday evening playing live with JK and the other Jamiroquai, you’re great Maestro!!!
Thanks!
Forget about aliasing, that is FPGA synth
Saludos Sr. @Mattjohnson min 6:00 parece que estamos en la serie de Stranger Things 😅😅😅 Saludos..!! excelente 👏👏👏
Nice setup, moog one, ob8x, 3rd wave and a Jupiter 8.
Only the mighty Prophet 10 is missing for the perfect polysynth rig.
To spice it up I would add a little retro feeling with synths like Waldorf Microwave mark one, Roland jx8p, Roland D50.
I have one but it stayed in the box this time!
I’m hearing a modern modern Danny Hathaway Someday We’ll All Be Free vibes with that first patch
I also have the 3:rd Wave and the Moog One combo, and I think they sound beautiful together! They really complement each other so well. Now I just need the Jupiter 8 as well…🤔
trying to work out how to get one of these lol. Availability in the UK is - errr nil at present. It costs a lot and I need to find space. My Polybrute will go (making the physical space). Ill still have my OB6 too fo VCO. currently have a Pro3 - which Im seriously considering selling as Im really not a mono guy (Im a player not a sequencer generally), and also a P6.... letting all those go would totally fund the 3rd wave....but not sure If Ill regret letting the P6 go or if 3rd wave with its P5/10 filters can get close enough..... I will definitely keep the OB6, and I have an Iridium keyboard for the poly AT (as much as anything), and adding the 3rd wave will give so much..... Its if I keep the P6 too ro not. Letting that go will - as I say - totally fund the 3rd wave initially and free space for EITHER a Nina OR possibly an Osmose a little down the line....
I wonder if Wolfgang Palm has his hands on one...........
crazy matt was on mind yesterday cause it's been a minute since you posted.. hope things are well! Blessings
I've had a lot going on, it's been hard to do videos lately. Some heavy life stuff!
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai don't worry sir. you are always appreciated for your beautiful videos we are always here to support you. Take as Much time as possible you have already been a Blessing to us !
I have a question if I may - a little OT, but you have hands on all the options. Im "downscaling" my home rig to something I can do justice with lol. I just have too much stuff just because its nice. For gigs - RD2000 and Fantom 7. For Home use My Iridium Keyboard, a 3rd wave that is now en route - plus ONE Desktop VCO synth.... Its that part I need help with. I know a lot is taste, but something that is not easily covered by the iridium and 3W - options being (from what I can see) OB6, Prophet 6 (both of which the 3W may well cover good enough for a hobbiest like me), Nina, Ge7... all of which I know you have had hands on with. I prefer built in FX of some sort but MAY be persuaded to go without and use a dedicated outboard unit - which opens up a Prophet 10, OBx8, or something from Black Corporation - a Decards Dream or ISE-NIN (being replicas of the CS80 and Jupiter 8 respectively). dont know if youve tried the Black corporation - though I know you have/had a Jupiter. Any thoughts here as to which would add character or flavour that Iridum and 3rd wave dont quite get would be much appreciated.
Well it’s such a personal choice but I feel something like the OBX8 or prophet 10 are a nice compliment in that they have that genuine analogue warmth. All are great, I really love Nina right now
Matt does the 3rd wave make those mean crunchy funky tones for professional players or is it all buttery as ive been seeing everywhere? Thank-you!
And when is Jamiroquai coming to the states again if ever did I miss my opportunities already?
beautiful ❤❤❤❤
I started with analog synths when I was a kid. I didn't like first digital things (like DX7 for example). But things like this one and Hydrasynth are wonderful. Huge chances to get harsh or warm tones. We can program the full result, so, what's better than that? With FM I am still unable to program and I don't like the results
When will you try the C15?
Mesmerizing as usual! Are you planning to do a Logic Sample Pack with the 3rd Wave, the NINA and gs-E7? Would love to buy it one day! Cheers!
Possibly!
Great sounds. But can't you get these on some VI programs like UVI Vintage Vault for a lot cheaper? And it would take a lot less space?
I don’t know vintage vault but my experience with plug ins is that they all basically sound the same. On the surface might seem like a good sound but put them in a track and they just have no prescience. That’s just my opinion though I’m not a hardware snob!
Matt, as ever, I fall into your vid with adoration but this time a degree of confusion because you mimic an EP with the most capable synth released in the last twenty years. Some might need to drill down in to the word synthesiser to understand the contrarian irony.
Your jazz chops are available on Spotify but I think you are capable of so much more. You are a wonderfully talented player but there is an untapped wealth of sequenced goodness residing within you. Synthpop is the ultimate adoration of synth. We will not think less of you if you become “less sophisticated.” Pssst… nobody adores a jazz snob. Xxx
Sorry you feel like that. I'm not a snob I just play what I feel. That changes like the tides!
I absolutely love my 3rd Wave (the only time I have ever "beaten you to the punch!"). Are you considering putting out a patch collection?
There’s probably not enough owners. Maybe in the future
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai Soon! They are selling them as fast as they can make them...!
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai add me to the list - just got mine this week. Love your work btw, especially a few sounds in this video which really made my ears sit up and take notice :)
