    11:15 "this is how love should feel" those repeat keyings sound like a tune from another maestro's work, the immense artist, Le Flex. Purely coincidental I imagine.

    The Prophet6's lead synth on 7:00 is so beautiful... reminds me Ewi sound, specifically Michael Braker with Steps Ahead Live version to "In A Sentimental Mood" (Live in Tokyo 1986)...
    So expressive...

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and taking the time to make a video and etc. I have a setup that I would call a simplified version of your simplified setup :) but you just demonstrated that It is possible to do so much more with what I have.     That pan effect through headphones is going to make me have a seizure. 🤣 I think your "small gigs" must be the same size as my big ones, because those vintage vibes are HEAVY (and expensive). You have some awesome equipment. That's one hell of a rig. 👍 I love the intimate piano with the expression pedal.

    Amazing video Matt! I find videos like these so inspiring to get an idea what kind of sound design the pro's are doing. So cool you are using samples instead of playing to a backing track which so many bands seem to be doing these days.     Extraordinary. Creative! I just picked up a Yamaha MODX7+ (same engine as the Montage) and this video is very inspiring to explore all of it's layering, splits, etc. This video also taught me that I can use the FX on the audio input, which kinda blows my mind I didn't even think of that!

    You have such an imaginative use of sounds and samples which is augmented with your melodic rhythmic style. It just sounds so 'organic' ... The sonic pictures you aurally 'paint' are so pretty and detailed. I hear Bob James, Lyle Mays BUT with a Matt Johnson stamp. An excellent clip!

    Unlike a lot of modern efforts that employ a lot of laziness and shortcuts in execution's, you sir employ smart playing, interesting surprises and a good deal of thought into delivering a great product and performance for your audience, not just what is easiest for you. Cheers!

    Thanks Matt. This is the keyboard rig (minus the Vintage Vibe ) you were kind enough to recomend to me when I ask you for a 2 keyboard setup. So far I have the Montage and working on getting the Prophet 6. Never thought to run other keys into the Audio In on the Montage and use it's fxs. Brilliant!

    I've been feeding my synths through my Motif-synths for years. It's a great way of utilizing the Montage/Motif's insert effects on the keyboards you're feeding into it.
