I've heard Sony Xperia 1 will get an huge Camer Update for the Picture Quality and the stabilization. It will come the next few days. I've read it from many articles today.
An update is out and it's supposed to improved the stabilization for the 1. Its cameras are pretty great, I was able to take some incredible shots. Sometimes in "Manual HDR" for the 2019 smartphone picture look, others in Superior Auto and it never disappointed me.
@Pixel Peepers Why do you think Sony didn't use their own ultra popular 586 sensor (48MP)? My guess is this approach could compromise the processing potential of he photo compared to the 12MP ones.
The Xperia 1 camera is very good compared to previous Xperias. Sony's biggest problem is that most people rather over-processed photos over natural ones.
And sony has the most weak marketing department in the business together with LG. The thing is they make great smartphones that nobody but the fan base buys
I really like Google Pixel phone but not available here in the Philippines. I also like SONY more than Chinese phones like Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo . This time at least Sony is improving their camera over the last 5 years. :)
What kills the Xperia 1 (and ANY Xperia for that matter) is the terrible dynamic range. Sony could very well increase the dynamic range while keeping the pictures natural, but they just don't, which is sad. Honestly I don't think it's acceptable to lose picture information (in the highlights and shadows) in a flagship smartphone in 2019. I've always really wanted to buy an Xperia phone (specially the Xperia 1, which seems freaking awesome), but the lackluster cameras keep me from doing it. Fantastic video as always btw, keep doing it! 👍😄
Usually a very wide dynamic range in the smartphone world is not achieved purely by a quality large sensor like with a DSLR, and they have to rely on computational photography, and that usually affects the color accuracy and introduces processing artefacts
Imagine if Sony condense the feature of Alpha 9 and Alpha 7 series into Xperia then there will be a possibility of occurence of loss in their camera division because Alpha cameras have much more high value as compared to Xperia smartphones........ A 1000 dollar smartphone having features of 5000 dollar mirror less.... That's totally impossible for Sony if see in financial terms......... Though dynamic range and stabilisation can be fixed through an OTA upgrade..... And I believe Sony will fix that......
@@PixelPeepers oh, that's what I meant by increasing the dynamic range and keeping images natural. A good HDR implementation shouldn't be unnatural at all. It's okay to have a few artifacts here and there, but we've come a long way, HDR artifacts are less common each time. Take Google's HDR+, for example... It's very good with artifacts, it's not natural only because of stylistic choices by Google (mainly aggressive dehaze). Anyway, to please everybody, they could implement a good HDR mode and give an option to disable it. Unfortunately their auto mode doesn't always use HDR and their HDR isn't even that good at all :/
@@PixelPeepers yeah, it's awesome; almost perfect. Just wish it had wireless charging and a slightly bigger battery. (Battery life is good, but more is always better)
I agree with your conclusion 100%. Sony's camera looks like their line of point a shoots. It looks very similar to its Cyber-shot HX series of point and shoots, perhaps the Xperia 1 tends to oversharpen more. Realism tops over the top processing, and I would gladly take a hit in dynamic range for a more realistic photo. Sony does not like to remove noise, so you often get photos with very high details, but also quite noisy. Negatives is, in my opinion, it has a tendency to oversharpen their photos to a high degree. As for software based portrait shots, all cellphones are crap, but some of the larger sensor smartphones are able to create natural background separation.
Is this before the software update that improved the camera or after? btw I just want to say I love your videos. Please review other phones in this fashion.
@@PixelPeepers To be honest I do wonder if SONY actually thought that you should use a handheld gimble like on real pro-video cameras. lol. sony does a better job in manual mode, but so all other phones (in the hands of a professional). Manual mode on Sony doesn't really introduce anything groundbreaking, it's just manual exposure settings. And, to be fair, there are better more complete manual modes out there in phones like huawei or LG. Nevertheless, manual mode used right on a Sony does deliver better photos than auto mode, but i can't understand the obsession of some sony fans to compare sony in manual against any other phone in auto. I like to compare apples with apples, so, it's auto VS auto or manual VS manual. If a phone is better than sony in auto mode, it will be better than sony in manual mode also.

I don't know why I like the two images! However! The Xperia-1 images in this automatic mode seem more real and natural showing more the realities of things! For front facing camera I'll give the advantage to the pixel, for video...idk! I think Sony has better colors!, yes poor dynamic range but not that much! the stabilization seems to struggle in 4k on sony but overall I think Sony did better job for video quality in both 4k and 1080p, for photos Sony did better for me but the bokek effect tbh I didn't like both of them but Sony did slightly better due to the secondary camera, good video btw 👍 I thinl you do the best camera comparisons
Also what do you think about the dxomark score? Do you think Xperia 1 camera is that far behind the competitors?
DxO scorings are rigged my friend, I don't trust them one bit
Excellent work man Thank you for this fair and accurate comparison .. Certainly Sony phones oppressed in this regard .. Greetings to you.. You are the best RUclipsr compares phones in terms of cameras.... 💪😎🌹
thank you mate, that really means alot... but we both know there are better channels than mine :D
SONY Xperia 1 for daylight.
👍👍👍
better video quality on xperia except stabilization
I will make a video with xperia 1 videos shot by cinema pro app on a gimbal.
@@PixelPeepers Well, if you turn off SteadyShot EIS stabilisation for 4K on Xperia, only OIS works, and it doesnt stutter like this. Yes?
Sir, if you have the regular pixel 4 kindly do a comparison between the 3a. Especially the size and the button placements side by side. 🙏🙏🤗
Hey there. I am still trying to recover financially after the iphone 11 pro max and galaxy note 10+ ripped my budget to pieces
@@PixelPeepers I thought Google sent you the P4 🤔
enrico pascual nobody sends me free phones unfortunately. I do this with my own money, out of passion
@@PixelPeepers ohh must be costly passion, so what do you do to the older phones, you re sell them? I'd be happy to buy🤔
enrico pascual yup, i sell them to replenish my finances for new phones
In recieving met Xperia 5 next week, i love the technologie Sony puts in the new Xperia phones.
Alsof i prefer the natural photos if i want eyecandy for example Instagram i can boost in IG itself :)
Congrats on your new phone!
It is just me or what ? When u said you prefer Sony in one comparison , I seem to prefer pixel . But when u said u prefer pixel , I tend to prefer Sony . Your preference is just contradict to mine in most things .
Well, that means one thing: we value different things in photography
pity you forgot video 1080 at 60fps....
Sony Xperia 1 💪
👍👍
Great comparison, but Sony smartphones aren't available in our country anymore 😔
You live in India?
@@PixelPeepers
Unfortunately they don't sell any more in India .
I still have my xperia z5 with CyanogenMod flashed
@@PixelPeepers yeah I'm from India and Xperia is no more available in our country because most of our population uses Galaxy, Xiaomi (which is the no. 1 smartphone brand in India), Oppo, Vivo and Chuawei..... And Xperias are too much costly when they were available in India......... I miss Xperia a lot.......
can't you import it?
@@PixelPeepers
Indian customs are crazy .
I literally can go to Taiwan , buy Xperia 1 , stay two nights with my mama or papa in Taiwan still I will pay less than importing
Trec de la Pixel 3a la Xperia 5, sper sa fi luat decizia corecta.
Ca si telefon, e upgrade. Ca si camera, e posibil sa ramai cu un gust amar in anumite situatii
sony holding up pretty good with pixel's camera..yup, it's the right direction alright👍👍
👍👍
HERE on this video proves that dxm is just a MAFIA..lol
Indeed it is
I love Juan videos, think i am gonna subscribe to his patreon account
I want to see your name in the end credits of his video!
I don't know why I like the two images! However! The Xperia-1 images in this automatic mode seem more real and natural showing more the realities of things!
A reminder that we can never forget is that this is a comparison smartphone in automatic mode and that the Xperia-1 and the compact Xperia-5 has 3 camera configuration modes that are automatic that can control only the clarity 🔆 and the colors of the images , Manual mode that has HDR and other settings, and also the Wide Cinema Pro mode that easily defeats all other modes and even in 1 billion% of all WEB tests has beaten all other Smartphones!
Now I'm seeing in the 10:00 minute and I don't know how Sony got these things! The naturalness and details of the images are very good remembering that Sony was never good in automatic mode.
True.
@@PixelPeepers Beautiful family! Congratulations on your work and your family!
Are you shooting 4k from Xperia 1 in H.265 format?
No. H264 because space is not an issue for me. Only cinemapro saves the files in HEVC format by default
@@PixelPeepers and that's the mistake you made you should shoot 4K in H.265 format for better stabilisation...... Give it a try and you will see the results........
if you are right, than you are my hero. I will test it right away
@@PixelPeepers yeah please!!!!!! and if it's worked then please mention it in your next video.....
Pixel 3 winner for me ❤️.sony also good.. And today is the day, new iphone is comming 🙈🔥🔥. Can't wait 🙈
Yeah i know. But i am more excited about the pixel 4
@@PixelPeepers me too.. i hope this year pixel 4 should be able to shoot hdr 10 videos and 4k 60fps with stabilization ❤️
Too much crop on pixel front video.
Both phones where held in portrait mode, so to make the videos full screen, i had to crop them both. And don't forget it has the ultra wide lens also
@@PixelPeepers yeah, i meant both have the different crop factor, right? I didn't mean it's the result of your crop for editing. That's why i said pixel has a bigger crop factor (from my perspective). Anyway thank for this comparison.
Dvs esti Roman?
Da, salut
Both camera awesome
Indeed they are
@@PixelPeepers i think in 4k mode switch format h265
pixel 3 is more detailed in portraits and better in portrait department andbetter in video too..
And HDR capabilities of google are on other level
sony murders it in video
👍👍
Damn the quality of the video on Xperia 1 is great but the audio quality capture is tinny and that autofocus issue or stabilization issue is a bit annoying
Pixel photos are more realistic with skin tone colors, and better DR. Xperia always shows green tones
For my wife first portrait, the xperia actually had more natural tones. For the second one, pixel hands down
at least Xperia1 is on the right track now 😎😎😎
And full speed ahead
stay on s9+ for a while and plan to return for Xperia 1 mext yearrrr
What a fantastic image of the broken wood! On the Xperia-1 It is possible to see even the hair or black with many details of color, contrast, tones and brightness! Also is very fantastic the other modes Manual and Wide Cinema Pro.
Yup, the dog hair in the broken wood is easily seen in the xperia photo
Yah, well, if ready-to-post-on-social-sites photography has become the standard for cameras... maybe we should start asking Instagram to make proffesional camera reviews we all can rely on then... obviously DxO has downgraded its proffesionalism to computational photography only, and has some suspicious conclusions in their reviews. So why not Instagram as new camera reference then?
Because there are still tech savvy people and geeks like us that still have roots into photography and what it means. If not, all phones would come with beauty modes and night modes on by default, without an option to disable them
After this, Xperia 1 vs Xperia XZ3 vs Xperia XZ2 Premium.
Too many Xperia's in one video
@@PixelPeepers The Xperias will be strong in this comparison.
Watching this on my experia m5..
👍👍
Hi sir ..
Sony Xperia 5 camera review
It was just announced at IFA. It will take some time...
1:56 straight up ignored lol
Yeah, got used to it 😅
sony recording best video
But 4k is a bit shaky
@@PixelPeepers yeah its true. But if we be carefull more not big problem. For example video details and dynamic colors more important for me. ;)
A manual mode is batter than basic mode and takes more quality picture than pixel i think
SONY 👑 GOD FOREVER 👑
👍👍
You have very beautiful wife
Thanks mate. Yes, i do
Did you notice these weird artifacts at the beginning of the video? (pixel 3)
Which video? The selfie video of the pixel?
@@PixelPeepers yes, theres something that looks like a discontinuity in the video, like a "matrix glitch" and a more subtle artifact in the mouth area shortly after that glitch.
5th
5th? 😀
@@PixelPeepers I'm the fifth viewers
oh, i thought you were the fifth to comment, but actually you were the first, just uploaded the video :))
However on video pixel looks more sharp.. sony always have that cartonned looks
Still prefer to pixel 3
That's the beauty of photography. It is very subjective
Xperia video so better than what dxo said
Dxomark is total shit
They even bashed Nokia 9 pureview as average .
Please can you do Nokia 9 vs S10 and Xperia 1 vs s10
hey mate. You know my opinion on 3-4 smartphone comparison in one video. It can't be in depth enough... and so i don't really enjoy this type of videos. But i will compare xperia 1 with the s10 and many other phones. My Nokia 9 unfortunately is broken, and couldn't find a replacement screen anywhere in my country
@@PixelPeepers
You can take it customer care . They are awesome in Europe
Tried it. They need my invoice for buying the phone from a local authorized dealer. But i bought my nokia 9 from olx, an ebay like website

I see . I know OLX , I used to buy used pc parts from them
