Excellent video. Was this with the latest software update to the Xperia to fix camera issues?
Yup. I already updated to the .56 firmware
Nice review, thumbs up buddy. I really like the natural tone of the Xperia 1.
Yeah i know, sony always excelled in color accuracy
Will there be Xperia 1 vs Xz2 premium?
Sorry mate, i already said it in the comments of my previous video, can't make that comparison because i don't have the xz2 premium anymore. Sold it for more cash to finance the new phones. This is the downside of running a small independent channel, i always struggle for cash to keep having new phones and make relevant content. Nobody gives them to me for free...
video on that xperia 1 still not great in stability ha :(
Yeah, even in HEVC (many people said it has better stabilization than h.264), 4K videos are all over the place. It really needs a gimbal to deliver high quality videos
@@PixelPeepers I think sony doesn't want to sacrifice video quality, since digital stabilization crops too much, and would rather have a horrible stabilization.
@@PixelPeepers yeah truly a shame, I wanted to truly recommend this phone but man.... for your normal consumer that doesn't play around with setting in the camera and enjoys video.... this ain't it...
Or maybe stick to 1080p videos... In 2019.... Nah sorry, couldn't say that with a straight face 😅
@@PixelPeepers man if they put all the features of a $3,499 into a $950 smartphone then it may cause a decrease in profits from their Alpha division.... because people will tend to buy Xperia for their photography/videography purpose not Alpha.... that's due to internal politics of the Sony that they don't want to make the camera app of Xperia perfect otherwise in multi-tasking and speed-tests Xperia 1 and 5 are as good as Oneplus 7 pro and note 10......
Sony looks more realistic. And that screen is on another level
I still prefer the note 10 screen
@@PixelPeepers Anyway, both were made by Samsung, but X1 screen has some calibration issues, though:

@@andreydavydov6417 X1 screen was made by Samsung? Okay, I didn't know that.
Yea well, better screen and? And nothing special more.
In this price you could get way better phone in every aspect. I'm in love of Sony mobiles and basicly electronic devices of this company for many many years and now, just this year after buying Sony Xperia xz3, well last year. I realized, it is not worth to buy them anymore. Seriously I will never buy Sony phone again.
You are too drastic. Sony might make very good devices in the future, they are on the right track
Shakey Video for Xperia 1 4k yes, but u do have to notice how it preserves everything in clear focus during the shuttering. Other cams will become "muddy". Xperia has characteristics of a pro level vid cam. (Better with a Tripod as this is marketed as a more pro phone)
Well, the thing is, it has on/off switch for stabilization. So you can turn it off for gimbal recording. But i would have liked to turn it on also, as i don't always carry a stabilizer with me
Thanks man. Really appreciate it. I am happy now for Sony Xperia 1...
If only they could fix that stabilization issue in 4k videos... Oh man...
@@PixelPeepers maybe Sony want to preserve the details of the video image I think...
@@amranibrahimrashidi did you see how shaky and jittery the Xperia video was?
@@josephnevin see the images details man... Stabilization will decrease the details of the images itself. By using the gimbal than the issue will be solve immediately with more clear and details video...
@@amranibrahimrashidi you said the true.. 👍
Nice work! Wow, the Xperia one takes much better daytime pics. Daytime pics from oneplus look very soft
Indeed. Sony is top notch in daylight photos, few phones can hold up...
The horizontal shake of the X1 is really surprising and should be fixed with a software update, but considering how long the device has been out, I'm not getting my hopes up.
Maybe on Android 10 they will fix it.
I think it can easily be fixed. This might be a bug that disables stabilization in auto mode just like in cinema pro app. Most people use some sort of stabilizer when shooting with cinema pro, and in phone stabilization must be turned off for best results.
I love Xperia
👍👍
Xperia 1 photos are true in color and full of detail
Yes they are

hey dude, did you record this with the new update for the Xperia 1, XXXX.656? looks like the stabilization issue in 4k recording is fixed, at least on my Xperia 1, both in H.264 and H.265,

What on earth was going on with the one plus 7 pro at 1080p 30fps?
Nothing wrong with the phone. My codecs when rendering the video went haywire
Hi. I can't believe that the OP7 Pro has what seems to be micro jitters/wobbles when doing video especially at night. The Xperia 1 also seems to have unnatural/inaccurate colour rendering in its photos. I just sold my S9+ coz I was disappointed with the low-res/non wide angle selfie camera of it. Thinking of going for either the OnePlus7 or the Xperia 1. Thoughts & advice please.
You care more about the camera or about the phone as an entire package?
@@PixelPeepers I think a selfie camera that is better than the S9+ in terms of having no micro jitters or wobbles, having a much wider angle selfie, a megapixel count of atleast 12MP (the S9+ can only go 5MP in 4:3 format) and an EIS would be sufficient for me. I'm stuck with the OP7, the newer 7T or an Xperia 1. Or something else you want me to go for?
If selfies are your concern, nothing beats the pixel. Also, the back camera on the pixel is on par with sony, and much better than the oneplus
@@PixelPeepers I'm currently using a Pixel 3 XL. And as someone who had Android for the last 9 years and having a consistent number of apps on my logins in the past 2 years (and having the same daily routine too) I find the performance could be better and the battery life is appalling compared to my S9+ and my old Moto G7. My only choices for now is either the Galaxy A50 or the Moto G7 Plus. Or as I said OP7 or 7T.
Between the two, my choice would definitely be the Xperia 1. I love the natural colour of the Xperia. But I'm still not sure if it can replace my current Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, it still hard to beat that Lumia despite the lack of ultrawide and telephoto camera.
What do you do with apps on the nokia?
@@PixelPeepers Well I'm using the apps as usual.
- I know that WhatsApp will drop support for Windows 10 Mobile at the end of the year, but I also have Telegram and it's still supported to this day. As for Facebook, there are a slew of third party apps that mimics iOS browser, and I like that. I don't do live streaming, so that's not my concern. Instagram? There's Winsta and 6tag, I use 6tag at the moment and I love he fact that the pic was uploaded at 2048px max, compared to the usual 600px compressed pic.
- News app? There are quite a plenty, including a third party app for Google News. I even managed to sideload Flipboard in my Lumia.
- I do occasionally use Spotify, and I do hurt a little about not having a working app for it. But now I saw a few third party Spotify client and it satisfies me for now.
- Photo editor? That's a lot. The one I use a lot is Rawer and Adobe Photoshop Express. Of course I have other photo-related apps installed, but I didn't feequently open them.
Personally speaking, app gap is all down to personal preference. To this day, I'm not feeling the app gap issue.
Is it possible to use the wide camera in manual mode to activate the hdr on Xperia 1?
Nope. Sadly, manual mode can be used only on the main back camera and selfie camera
Salutam.
Why u use software for rendering?
Well i have to put all the photos and videos side by side, put the labels over them, zoom in for photos. All that is done in adobe aftereffects and exported into a final video
@@PixelPeepers okey. Thats a reson.
what do you think? who takes better photos and videos?
Videos in auto mode, go for oneplus. Also go for the 7 pro for the selfies. But manual hdr videos and photos with the back cameras, all go to sony
Maybe you can add your content to your channel maybe make film with smartphone or what fiture in smartphone camera like Sony experia 1 cinema pro or another phone
I am already working on it
@@PixelPeepers yeah thank man..
Great comparison as always. As you've tested both the Huawei P30 pro and Xperia 1 cameras. If you had to choose 1 purely for still photography across all lenses. Which one would you pick up?
Tough... I guess i would go for huawei. Daylight seems at leas as good with the sony, maybe a tad better, but all the versatility of night photography, the 5x zoom, the better manual mode with raw... I would lean towards the huawei
@@PixelPeepers Thank you very much for the quick response...and I thought you might say that 😆. I really want an Xperia 1 as I was a long time Sony user but still photography is a priority and I don't think I can trade my P30 pro for one. Hello to all! I have Sony Xperia 1,and my brother have Xperia xz 2 premium. I will tell you so, they shoot very similarly, 1 shoots a little better at some points, a little wider dynamic range. But in the xz 2 premium there is a chic monochrome module. The photos are very beautiful!
But monochrome photos aside, xperia 1 does take better photos, right?
@@PixelPeepers not a big difference in wide angle photos. But yes x1 slightly better
@@PixelPeepers Yes, a little better, but in some cases, photos with xz2 premium are better. But overall xperia 1 is a bit ahead.

Very good comparison
As mentioned the bread and butter is the main camera. I only use main camera and not a selfie 🤳 person.
I would rather go for Sony considering i only use main camera almost 99% of the time.
I hardly make any videos 😊
The Sony might be good enough for you, but not for everyone else. The video stability on the Sony is horrible. Selfie photos and videos are subpar as well. I would rather get a OP7Pro and use the Gcam to enhance the pics taken.
Gcam would indeed improve photos on the op7 pro. Maybe i will make a comparison like this
@@noka5730 it's your money your choice, whatever you want to buy with it
Yes definitely I am not a mobile camera person. The only main reason for me to stick with Sony is their display quality and build quality
Again these things are subjective
Camera api on the Xperia 1 is now unlocked, and I believe GCAM may also work on it, so perhaps you're gettiing the Xperia 1's superior hardware for the same software on the OnePlus 7 Pro

Oh btw, i'm watching in my Xperia 1. ❤️
Yes, i have the .56 update for a week now. But I can't spot any major differences... Maybe some camera stability and speed. And also maybe the telephoto camera is a bit sharper. But that's all
@@PixelPeepers i think they focus on the dynamic range on the auto mode. And the 2x lens is now sharper than before. Im not sure about the stabilization of 4k videos but I've tried recording using cinema pro app and the stabilization is far better than the stock cam. 😊

I've tried the 7T pro against the X1 (only on store mode tho) and the 7T Pro kept a much sharper image when zoomed in video mode and handled light much better, which is important to me. In photo mode when zoomed all the way, the Sony was grainy and the sign I zoom in at was not readable at all, but on the 7T Pro it was damn near perfectly sharp.. A few colour tweeks and I think the 7T Pro is more than just fine. (Note: I'm a Sony fan at heart, but their camera game just isn't up for it..)
I had Oneplus 7 Pro before Xperia 1 and I have the same opinions.
Another big FAIL from Dxomark which assigned a high score to the chinese manifacturer.
All those seeking objectivity must forget that site
Isn't it weird that top dxo phones are also chinese manufacturers that have been accused of cheating benchmark scores in the past? And we all know chinese vendors like to employ this kind of "aggressive marketing"

@@norahriddhientertainment9027 yeah thats my point you dont need that high resolution for your RUclips vids... and mostly all of the social media dont need 4k. 360p to 480p will do....
Strange isn't it. Previous Xperia flagship has better stabilization for both the 1080 and 4K, and those one has only EIS. Still I do think Xperia has better colours to my eyes even in photos. They should invest in both videos and front facing camera. That'll make it just as solid as many major flagships.
If 4k video recording can be fixed with cinemapro app and a gimble, the front camera sensor is just poor quality
I already mentioned that 4k video with SteadyShot EIS off has much better stutter free stabilisation. Few yt testers tried it out and it is indeed much better.

I rate the X1 higher than the OP7 in most situations including the front camera, the OP7 is better at balancing 4k and a bit at the dynamit range, do you turn on HDR on the X1?
Thank you so much for the interesting videos, look forward to the upcoming videos of the X1 and other flagships
Can you compare the X1 camera with other flagships when HDR is turned on and off?
Tks you so much ❤❤❤
Hdr video on the sony needs to be compiled separately. You cannot mix hdr and non hdr videos into the same output video, as it would render hdr useless. This is why, for all comparisons, hdr is off on sony. Of course, if i would only want to share a video shot with sony in hdr, then i could upload it on youtube without problems and you could take advantage of it if you have a compatible hdr screen
@@PixelPeepers I mean compare the pictures with HDR on/off of the front and back cameras of the X1 with the other flagships at the same time
Thank you so much 😁
Hi. Google cam on oneplus can be better. Plecase use that in comparison
Indeed gcam can deliver better results on the oneplus. I made a video about this 2 months ago, you can check it out if you want
i dont know on which monitor you are watching your video. but for me, 90% sampels are better from Oneplus. Less noise, clearer image
Hp z27 4k professional monitor. But that's beside the point. Less noise is not necessarily better. Most of op7 photos are softer, with less texture details and color accuracy is not really on point
@@PixelPeepers i think, that its on personal preferences.. look at pixel phones. they have like 200% contrast and people like it. Look at galaxy phones, they have like 200% saturation, and people still love it . For me, 7 pro has one of the best selfie cameras and maybe 10th best rear camera in any smartphone. I will definitely take less noise than oversharped photo, becasue i can add more details in any app. I can add more saturation, more contrast even more details. Waaay more details. so for me, most important thing is noise free photo with good dynamic range. As i can see those photos from Xperia, there are no real details, i can see only more contrast what bring details to life. On oneplus you can do the same in 5 second in any photo app
"You can add more details" then I stopped reading the comment and concluded that this indeed is a comment going to the wrong direction.
In photography, details can only be removed in post processing, and NEVER can be added.
If ever that was the case, why aren't we using it today to create MUCH better results than what our best could achieve currently?
Another thing is, noise is part of any image. Some minor monochromatic noise is fine, and even more so, as they tend to give the image that realistic look that it is indeed a picture taken from a real camera and not some beautiful unrealistic painting of a great artist.
Removing noise is one thing, adding details is another.
How can you add details to the image when you removed them already with noise reduction from the very beginning?
And before you say it, let me tell you already; the OnePlus 7 Pro's clean image is caused by post processing noise reduction.
Sony is far more conservative and has a more effective RAW noise reduction algorithm that could lessen noise enough for them to not be an issue, but also preserve a lot of fine details left in the image.
I'm not saying you have no idea in photography (I know you do, you already know the basic terms) but I believe you could still learn more. Have a great day :))
@@troy5568 I never had real camera in my hands.. but i am using phones for taking photos for years.. Now i will go back to " add more details" . I dont really understand how it works but when i download some better picture editor like Pixlr, you can "sharpen" the image, it will insanely bring details to photo, but when photo is too noisy, noise will be more visible after sharpening . So Oneplus will reduce the noise in post processing, and i can "add more details" by sharpening the photo . Result is noise free, ultra detailed well white balanced and color acurate photo. So i prefer when post processing in stock app reduce noise and i will take care about details in photo editor app. :D Samsung phones oversharpening and oversaturating photos in post processing . Oneplus takes it from the other side and let me edit my photo by my way. I was comparing my 3y old Oneplus 3t with G-cam and pixlr editor vs friend´s Galaxy s10+. Photos from 3t was insanely detailed, even when you zoom in, well balanced and everybody said, that he will pick up the 3t photo over the s10+.. people with iphones always asking me, what phone it is ,because they never seen that good photos from any smartphone. Yea. they are not professional photographers, me niether, but i know , that everybody like when you add a bit more contrast, saturation and sharpening. If you have some android phone, try Pixlr and that sharpening what i am talking about :D you will see the difference
Hi my friend, thanks again.
Both of them does some good job on different situations.

Pretty much. The only thing i would change is 1080p back camera videos, where i would give them a tie
For all the greatness that Sony's camera brings, that shaking on the 4K 30 fps is really unacceptable. A misstep on an otherwise exemplary device. Still, this is a very big step in the right direction for Sony!
I think it is easily fixable with an update, but sony must first be willing to deliver it
@@PixelPeepers Yep agree. I hate saying this but my XZ1 is better at native 4K video recording than X1.

True about one plus, if they can achieve what they have to offer in video recording with that sensor setup then surely they can give them all run for money with better hardware specially since that "flagship killer" USP in the one plus 7 is almost nearly gone... They should better join the club than beating about the bush. So far as Sony goes, in the overall picture I honestly think that they may have missed again a good opportunity with the Xperia 5 launch. They should've not just made a smaller Xperia 1, they should've up the game to show what's next to come and increase their potential buyer base... Sad as always they've messed it up.
You know sony, they make small incremental upgrades, never the ones to make big leaps of faith. They are very cautious
