Thanks for the shoutout John. You're my fav oldschool RUclips/contentcreator online and happy to see you got such a positive/strong community behind your channel. You make a benchmark for new foreigners to come to Japan and totally immerse themselves in learning as much as possible about the culture as possible. Can't wait to do a collab stream one of these days.
@shinagawa when I have Sam on the show, we can find out 😉 I have a lot of respect for history and for those who have been at this longer than me. Sam is one of the originals, is 100% authentic and I like how I know where I stand with him, no BS. I’m a little more wishy-washy! Haha!! The GoPro video at the sushi shop he did was genius and beautiful. I’ve watched it at least 10 times and it makes me feel happy, seeing a slice of Japanese society in the raw. Anyhow, I do like hanging out and it’ll be a fun stream when we get together ٩( ᐛ )و anything can happen when you’re live!
Hey, can you link the revolving sushi video here? Please.
The street food choices were many, 🍡🥮🍦 the pigeons were few, Toby could be heard but that's nothing new. Thanks for the tour John. 👍
A poet! 😍🙌
@@kezbot2 TY Kez. 😁
watching this on Oct 14 2022. Am starting my process of planning a trip...I start at least a year in advance. Your videos are really inspiring and helping me. I have pretty much decided we are going to stay in Asakusa. Mahalo nui loa!
Always feels like a real life Sunday afternoon stroll with John!
🚶♂️
I agree! feels home away from home.
I'd give anything to be able to just wander through the streets of Tokyo, Kyoto, Sendai or Osaka and just snack. I miss it so much.
Im hooked on your inspiring and relaxing vlogs. Love!
I just catching up with your uploads John. Somehow this one give me energy boost and motivation. Thank you …. Best wishes for you and family.
Prayer said for your family ... Love your beautiful family and videos.
It was such a pleasant walk. I love Amazake, too. It's called 'Nomu tenteki' (Drinkable Intravenous) because it has so much nutritions in it! I take it everyday😊
Thank you for helping us to pump up spirit to get back to JAPAN !!!
The view at the beginning is pretty cool! The last time I was in Tokyo, I stayed in the 9 Hours capsule hotel in Asakusa, so have seen a lot of the night view of Asakusa!
Always great!!
I have been to the 8th floor of Asakusa Cultural centre too! Lovely view of Nakamise Dori and Tokyo Skytree Tower! Thanks for rekindling the memories! Somehow I always get delayed notification of your live stream and couldn't watch it live.
18:32 I agree with you John, Tayaki with sweet potato is very delicious, it's my favorite, custer cream is good too, but, i love sweet potato more, the last time i ate a takoyaki was in this shop where John bought the takoyaki
Used to live across from the shop that sells the gold covered ice cream. Walked that area so many times. This is like a home coming video for me. Is sad to see a lot of mom n pop shops gone 😔
Yes, it’s really hard to see them go and I really hope many can hang in there until 2022.
33:30 I bought a yukata in 2017 in this shotengai, and i still have it, it was awesome because in that year i went to Japan in July and celebrated tanabata
The orange street and "orange house" are where dutch sport fans celebrate and come together.
I guess during some event in the past this is where it was in tokyo and the locals liked it and kept the street orange after the dutch fans left.
Ah! That is interesting. I wonder if there is any connection to the Dutch? 🤔
Wow! I never saw nakamise dori with so few people!! I SO want to be there now too!! Thank you John for the REALLY long stream- also I watch it in playback I had a really good breakfast TV 😂
Aww I love when you show these
Thanks for respnding to the superchat!
It doesn't matter if they were a kabuki actor or artist. People can wear whatever. It's just fabric and cosmetics. And the makeup styling was top notch.
Exactly!
8:20 that Taiyaki shop was one of the best! They have another in Akiba though.
Love these walks! It brought back memories from 2018 when I spent an hour or two in Asakusa💖
I love the view from the Asakusa Tourism Centre. It was the first place I visited on my 2nd trip to Japan. Miss the place. 😌
Nice walk and street food. I like going into the shops there.
That matcha place looked great! I hope it’s still there when I return to Japan.
Wow I found your video because I’m planning another trip soon, I always stay with my brother but I want to stay in the city this time , I was thinking Ginza? Too fancy, Harajuku Shinjuku? Too busy and I remember how fun the Asakusa area is , and now this video , I’m glad you mention how fun this area is, I will definitely pick this area and look for a hotel
That taiyaki place is THE BEST and I’m thrilled they’re still going strong! We stayed in Asakusa in July 2019, they had momo (peach) flavored anko filling. One bite and I was in heaven!
Oh, thats a great shot i have to go to this spot i love that view! thanks for the share ! stay awesome! '
Thanks Ramses!
Ready to kick back and watch another great OIJ livestream
Love your videos! Thanks for bringing us along with you on these wonderful walks. And I would LOVE to see more of the Mameshiba Cafe (a future livestream perhaps…?!?!)! Thank you again for your fantastic work!

WC always important. birdie says 'I have been waiting for hours for you to show up'. what... kick the bird, lose your foot. thx for hour half sunday walk thru Asakusa love seeing all the japanese clothes on the girls and boy. hello to Kanae n precious Leo. thank you thank you

Enjoyable stream , even though i didn’t saw this from the start , but as always i give my like even the stream has even started so , arigato 👍!!!
What a great stream, and I've not even watched it yet. Liked and flagged for later :)
Thanks for the guided tour John...too bad, for whatever reason, I have never been into Old Tokyo.
cheers
Oh wow what a great view now I know for next time
Hello again from New Jersey (Middletown - exit 114 off the Garden State Parkway)! Loved your live stream of Asakusa....so glad we're staying in that area next April! I absolutely love your content and updates John! My 2 teenage daughters are beyond excited to visit the Shibuya/Akihabara areas since they live and breathe anime! As for my wife and I, we're hoping to catch the tail end of Cherry Blossom season....not sure if it'll be too late on April 15th. Regardless, this will be a bucket list trip for us and we simply can't wait to visit! Much love health and happiness to you and yours!
You’ll be fine :) but just not in Tokyo :) the blossoms travel north and I know on April 18-22, they’re absolutely gorgeous at Hirosaki Park! They don’t bloom until May 10th in Sapporo and end of May in the north of Hokkaido so you can’t always catch them, somewhere, during the season.
@@onlyinjapanGO Thank you for the info.... we have 9 days so we have a good amount of time to chase those blossoms! I look forward to more of your meanderings around your beautiful country!
I miss Japan. Great video.
ASAKUSA!!!! ❤️
Lovein all the streams!!!!👍🏻
The matcha treats looked so yummy! Thank you for sharing with us. Warm wishes to your wife and baby
Nice cover up after seeing the guy in maiko clothes. “Whatttt” 😳 I mean, “awesome!” 😅
Haha! I think it’s shocking at first, not something you see everyday, which is what made it pretty awesome - but didn’t expect that :)
Greetings from England
that gaki no tsukai sign!
I miss festivals so much.
I know!! Please start up again soon!! Festivals!!
I love pidgeons, they are so adapted to the city life. i even handfed one here in sweden. completely wild and it managed to jump on my knee
Love these walks John. Totally missing taiyaki. Used to go to a taiyaki shop before they closed down and I would get custard and chocolate. :)
When I come back to Tokyo, I would love to meet you and Kanae and Leo :D
Space boat herd was amazing to see!
Space boat HERD! I love it 😻
Watching you John eating sweet potato taiyaki how I wish I am there right now
Damn i missed the Stream.. i'll have to pick up where i came in. I see lots of Yukata!
My last stop of my last trip, stayed at a hostel a block away from the Donki. I've had taiyaki at the same spot John stopped at, there's also an incredible melonpan spot in a covered arcade right next to Senso-Ji I'd always go to in the morning for breakfast.
I wanna go back ;-;
Speaking of rainy season, it is too here in the Philippines currently
Biggest sandals... John don't those sandals belong to Masaru Daisato? You know, the Big Man... Entertaining stream John! Fun and educational, great delivery! 👍
matcha overload 😍 craving for matcha ice cream...bye!
thanks for showing the halal ramen . great stream ^^
We are planning a trip for next summer. My kids are going to be 15 and 12 and they really want to go to Ghibli and the Cup Noodles museum. Those places seem to be further out of central Tokyo. Can you show us those areas? Your videos have been so helpful for us to make decisions on where to go, what to see, etc. THANKS!
Is it rainy season yet? How often does it rain in June? We are hoping to travel but mid June is only time we can all go.
I've been to Japan a couple times now, but never went into Asakusa. It always seemed like it would be too busy and crowded for me to handle. I'll have to scope it out next time, provided the crowds don't return to anything like pre-pandemic levels. 😅
On the topic of 7-Eleven here in the States - the new store layouts they have been using are nice! Plus, you can get a freshly-made, good cup of coffee for cheap. The newer stores have machines that will fresh grind beans and brew up a cup on the spot. And they definitely lean harder on private label products now, which is something that 7&I Holdings in Japan does so well. That said, even the newer stores can be iffy with service. That part hasn't improved as much as it should, sadly.
Rio for prime minister. Daub for the win for the power of social positivity.
John on what were you standing when you started recording? It reminds me of the Miyashita park in Shibuya
i went in nara owl-cafe, owls are night-owls, i think always there eyes be damage by the light overday, same in arashiyama owlcafe, but there they have trees surround them, but still in a tight room(but i love to visit my owl cousin from the netherlands).
a cafe with sheba dogs is right up my alley 🐾🤗 I love anything matcha 🍵 mochi yum, I have a question which region in Japan grows the best matcha?
Food looks good
There’s a Tezuka Osamu cafe and shop here I’m dying to see but no one has any footage of it T_T
I have travel plans to visit Japan in March 2022, i hope that happens so i can visit places like this
Asakusa!!
lovely mugworth remind me of inari shrine, but those where grilled
Does filming with a GoPro for personal vlogs need permissions as well for Nakamise dori and Sensoji temple? Thank you in advance!
this city is beautiful . I actually don’t like cities with skyscrapers and huge buildings . Cause in big cities peoples are not that friendly and always busy on there own purpose
Hey that pigeon was Sick! I found one just like him in my balcony yesterday he couldn't even fly away from me so I picked him up and took him to the vet they said they will treat him and it turns out he was in a very bad condition :( I'm still waiting on the good news that he's recovering. Please go back to that pigeon if you could and save him.
Aaawww Johnielson. Happy Fattas day to you as well.🍺
You may be getting more Japanese followers. I have been telling more of my Japanese clients about you :) They love it that I know something about Japan:)
Thank you Sharon! *\(^o^)/*
Chocolate strawberry custard taiyaki and matcha available in Spore Takashimaya but not emo taiyaki
17:24, i am now curious who that youtuber was? than i can watch the scene you both shared :D
Me too. I met robcdee going home.
@onlyinjapan*go How about Katsushika especially Kameari station? Your 4th Choice place to visit?
Wow, it's first time ever I hear someone mention Katsushika, so nostalgic! I grew up just east of Yotsugi.
@@kayokoglueck9422 I really want to visit Katsushika & other parts of Tokyo.
great stream but the weak audio is a turnoff
Not sure why. But not being able to monitor external mic audio is tough // I use the external mics to fix wind noise which is a worse turnoff!
@@onlyinjapanGO yeh John it does sound low for some reason!!! ??
Yeah John I have to max my speaker volume for your recent videos including this one. I usually set my speaker to 25% and your audio was still weak at 50 I had to crank it all the way up.
Imagine rhubarb and custard taiyaki!!!😃
*John what's the secret you to make yourself look 25 & 45 at the same time?*
John how's Hanna doing is she still in Japan
Yes, she’s doing well, working for her mum, Ruth! She was the camera woman in the train bento episode I made last month :)
@@onlyinjapanGO that's good
I noticed that the audio has been weak for the past week even if volume is maxed.
I’m not sure why, it is better than having a lot of wind noise. I use the external mic to prevent heavy wind on the mic. I believe it was in stereo this time, not mono so getting progressively better.
i lkie the mantcha ice cream
Most people go for the Ralph Macchio likeness......but if you've been watching, there's more of a Brandon Lee/Eric Draven thing going on with these crows and pigeons..🤔
Please up that mic gain or preamp, so hard to hear even after boosted the first time!
It was up but I think youtube throttled it? I chalked before going live. I’ll see if I can fix it next time. Thanks!
your making me hungry
I think poor Ralphy would come away worse off then he did on his 1st trip to Japan. Think he's as old as Sato now.
😂 yes, same age in the K Kid part 3 when they travel to Okinawa in the late 1980s!
When will japan reopen to travel
After vaccinating it’s citizen. Maybe October for a limited open and Next spring for a big one!
鯛焼きtaiyaki
Here from robcdee
Saw him on my way home 😁
That chill pigeon is not well.😑
Maybe not - still chill.
@@onlyinjapanGO hope so
Signal good , audio so so
Excellent tour however
omg the audio again it's so low with the mic 😓
I believe it’s stereo at least … no wind noise! That’s worse. We’ll get it right.
by noh theater male players dress as woman or girls, to act the role out, tradition play, love watching in osaka noh theather
Where are the beer vending machines?
Not so many here. They have been decreasing over time. You can get beers in every convenient store though. There are certainly some in the neighborhoods away from tourist areas.
@@onlyinjapanGO I remember the first time i was in Tokyo I saw a Asahi vending machine with cans all the way up to 1L.
