Yes sir, i thought I’d do a presentation using it because of the guy awhile back that was talking crap about that target. I ordered a block of ballistic gel to do a similar test with that, hopefully it’ll stop a bullet. 😂 I was a Marine Corps marksmanship instructor for my battalion and a lot of what Paul instructs is similar to what I did. You could say he’s been one of my inspirations, although his content is much more refined than mine at this point. 😂
@@WesternOutdoor Yes mate , excellent stuff , and your right ,if one things for sure you can guarantee theres always someone talking a lot of crap when it comes to guns and ballistics 💥🍺
Fan-fucking-tastic! I was hoping to find a test like this, and you delivered! I am also a fan of Mr. Harrell. According to Strelok Pro, Federal/LC M855 has a G7 BC of .154. The stated velocity for this round from a 20 in 1:7 twist M16 barrel is, IIRC, 3160 fps. So at standard atmosphere, the M855 round should have 1660 fps remaining at 500 yards. That gives it 383 ft/lbs. But more importantly, it obviously has more than enough ass to blast a hole through someone chest at that range. Hornady research showed that high velocity rifle bullets reach temperatures in flight of about 600 degrees Fahrenheit, so if you imagine someone taking a blow torch to a 12 inch long screwdriver until it is 600 degrees and then stabbing it through your chest, that is how "ineffective" the 5.56 is at 500 yards. Even without fragmentation, it is still hypertension pneumothorax and inevitable death unless you get your ass some real medical attention real fucking fast.
Great video! I really like the two cam perspective between the target and where you shot. Its Interesting to hear the difference, and not have to be shot at to get the same experience, lol.
Thank you again for watching, glad you enjoyed it. I’m getting better at editing these 2 camera videos and I thought it’d be interesting to hear the impacts and the shots from the firing line. Thank you again for tuning in. 👍
No one else on RUclips is doing these ballistic tests out to range like this. It’s always 25 yards or so. Keep it up, try 7.62x51 m80, 7.62x39, different grain 556 and other calibers at this range give or take man great content
Thanks for watching! It’s a good scope for the money. Pretty clear glass and I like the reticle. Probably better for hunting than target shooting. In my opinion.👍
I've been using it for 30 years. For what it is I really have no complaints. I did a ballistic gel test in another video if you'd like to see that at 500 yds, very interesting results. Thanks for watching.
@@WesternOutdoor I did I watched it for me I noticed less flash with this ammo as well even with a suppressor my favorite ammo is lake city m855 yeah it’s not the best at everything but it’s damn good at everything
Actually at close range (up to 150 yards) and at 700-800 yards it should be more effective. That's because of the high yawing angles M855 bullet experience at such distances (determined by military ballistics firings)
thanks for your effort to make this vid. Impressive performance at 500! Do you have any other calibers to try at that distance? You could make a series 😁
Yes I know this test is for information purposes and good shooting, but....if logic merits that the military uses it wouldn't that dictate it is acceptable and accurate as any other ammunition? I mean come on guys the military isn't going to use sub par stuff it's actually better than standard "civilian " ammo any day.
Isn't it way more complicated than cup and core FMJ? Doesn't it cost more to make? Why would they use it if it didn't have any advantage over regular M193. It penetrates way batter at longer distance and retains more energy. It does sacrifice a little terminal effect at close range, but regains the advantage at longer distance.
@@WesternOutdoorI think you’re doing fine. No one else on RUclips is doing these ballistic tests out to range like this. It’s always 25 yards or so. Keep it up, try 7.62x51 ball rounds and other calibers at this range
I wouldn’t want to be hit by that at 500 yards either! 😮 Impressive.
Ah the ol Paul Farrell meat target , great vid mate

So is M855 an effective round at 500 yards?
You be the judge.
With a "Shatneresque" pause.

Enjoy the video brother 💯💯 I wish you the best with your channel 💯
The ribs made a great dinner after wards , nice and tenderized :)
Pretty good "Harrellesque" vid.
Nice use of that suffix. I’m may have to steal that! 😂 Thanks for watching.
You are a legend just by mentioning Pauls name 💪🏻
Great test idea
Thanks, wish I could take credit for it.👍
I’ve recently found your channel. Quite enjoyable. You remind me of a few different guys I served with. Curious about how you like that scope.

There’s a lot of unwarranted junk talk on this ammo but it’s my go to

Thanks for tuning in and glad you enjoyed.
Cool video! What about testing some hunting bullets at long distances?
Yeah, need to try that.👍
Love it :)
I need to buy some hollow points in 556 i do have fmj after seeing this made feel at ease for the time being
Im pricing a 20" bull barrel right now. Paul Harrell is my favorite, lol

Yup fleet yaw and it varies from lot to lot that’s why some military experiences were it drops em dead and some were like we had to shoot them 5 times
Dinner had a tint of orange tang :)

cool, maybe try the 308? 😁@@WesternOutdoor

What is the barrel twist
1:9 on this one
Twist rate?
1/9
Imi? Or Pmc? Or neither lol
I believe I used federal m855 in that video
Back from when Federal ran the Lake City plant

@@WesternOutdoor that was a nice shot also.
Looks deadly to me.
Hey your content seems interesting but if you're trying to get subscribers don't spend the first 5 minutes talking. People want action!!!
There’s those that want action and those that want explanation along with it. So I tend to cater to the latter. Thanks for the input.
