Nice! I have a 6.8 with an 18” barrel. I’ve taken mine out to 500 with great success. Thanks for trying this out. I’m surprised the bullets weren’t tumbling at that distance. I know 62 Grain green tips will tumble out of a 20” barrel at 1,000. Just a data point the 110 Gr. Hornady V-Max in this cartridge works surprisingly well on Deer and Pigs. To this date I’ve handloaded for the 115 Grain Speer Gold dot, the 110 Gr. Serria Soft point (No longer Available), and the 110 Grain Hornady BTHP which gave me high pressure signs more than the others with the same powder charge. My guess is the sharp ogive on the bullet increased chamber pressures. My go to powder is Accurate 2200.

Fellow lefty here. Those 325gr FTX are really shooting well. I picked up the same rifle recently, also had a couple Marlin 1895's along the way. I believe the CVA is just a lot stronger action, and my older eyes (63 y/o) do a lot better with optics nowadays. I need to get out and shoot mine. Enjoyed the vid, thanks for sharing!

This video inspired me to make a designated m855 build 16” Sionics 1/8 barrel with a Yhm turbo k rb Shoots pmc xtac m855 just under 3000 fps and regularly groups 1.5-1.75 moa Has no problem hitting 8 inch steel at 400m consistently I think it’s the perfect weapon for a potential “near peer conflict” M855 has become severely underrated

That was much better performance in the accuracy department than what I expected. They were coming in big time on the steel. Took a while to get there, but whacked the plate hard. I'd like to see the Black Hills MK262 in action and a 10.5 Commando upper at distance. I know there's a big velocity difference.

Yeah but people with that object keep killing kids at schools. People who can’t access the object don’t go on killing sprees at schools in other countries because said object isn’t available. And yes sometimes horrible things happen in other countries however the US has had 302 mass shootings in 2024 alone. 604 mass shootings in 2023 and 695 in 2022. Britain has had 56 mass shootings since 1980. A gun is just an object but if people can’t access said object they can’t kill others with said object.

The availability of that object is kinda the problem... A person could be mentally perfectly healthy when he picked up a rifle. Then some tough shit happens this person can not handle and now you have a dangerous person WITH instruments to kill.
