I spend one whole day making freezer meals for my family once a month. I make 1 extra batch of each meal and post it on a local Facebook group for people looking for a break and a homemade meal! The most rewarding feeling ever is to share my cooking. I take along my 4 year old son and his face just lights up when we pass them out!.

An actual quote from my grandmother when I asked her for a recipe once- “and then you add one handful of sugar.”
Me- “what?!? Whose handful? I have tiny hands!”
That’s the day she realized her adult granddaughter had the hands of a child instead of her giant hands.

Instead of doing a day of prep for a bunch of freezer meals, I’ve gotten into the habit of making a 2nd freezer meal along side with dinner. Example if I’m making pulled pork tonight for dinner I’ll make a second one but as a freezer meal, for later. There is 4 of us in my family and my boys are still young and don’t eat a whole portion. Plus my love hates leftovers. So often I can take a single recipe and cut it in half. One for now and one for later.

I did our freezer meal prep for February on the weekend.
I made: chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, pork and beans, meatball pasta bakes, pizza sauce, and breakfast casserole (four of each), and a stack of waffles.
You've inspired me so much. I bought an instant pot, and I love it. I no longer roast our Sunday lunch, it goes in the instant pot and I add the vegetables for 20 mins at the end.
My monthly food shop cost £80 this month

Although these are good suggestions for meal prepping, they also use a LOT of aluminium and plastic. Maybe, if one does that kind of meal prepping very often, investing in a set of reusable containers might be advised to reduce the waste?
I think they make similar sizes in (oven- and freezer-proof) glass?
Admittedly, they are easier to give away in these bags/containers to people in need. Just a suggestion for those who think about using the program on the regular for their own family...

    • @paranoiavandroid
      @paranoiavandroid 3 года назад +8

There are reusable freezer bags too! They are a thicker plastic I believe but most of the freezer bags used here are ones that you can only really get one or two MAYBE three uses out of before they rip.
That said, you don't need to throw away those aluminum tins. They are 100% reusable. I have an entire cabinet dedicated to those tins and greek yogurt, sour cream, etc plastic containers. There's no reason not to keep them imo. Especially the aluminum ones! :)

Hi, since you're such a friends fan, I thought I'd share my story. A few years ang, my husband had a job interview in Santa Monica, and Iwas invited along. While there we went to LA and caught the last Warner Bro tour of the day. Since it was the last one, and there were only a few of us, we got to do things that they don't normally do, such as I sat in the front seat on the Ellen set. We were shown the friends coffee shop replica set, complete with the original couch that they used. Our group got to sit on the couch, with a pic taken of us holding the coffee cups :). Maybe that's not such a big deal to people from the States, since you guys can go there if you want to, but to me it was pretty cool at the time, since I was a huge friends fan also. TFS

Thanks for this! For the first time in 14 years I am working full time. It’s still from home, but 8-10 hours a day is a lot to try to have dinner on the table for a family of 6. I just bought the freezer pack and will make it this weekend!

This Eating Together meal plan kit.. sooo getting that.. thank you!!! I normally spend about 2 hrs on the grocery list 2x a month.. picking out meals.. listing ingredients.. checking those against what i have.. then figuring out how much its all going to cost.. this will save me soo much time. very grateful to you for posting this.

Love your videos! Wanted to let you know you I just recently found out the secret to freezing potatoes. If you blanch them and then freeze them, they won’t turn brown. For soup you could freeze them all together but if you want to make home fries or something, freeze single layer on a cookie sheet and then transfer to a freezer bag.

I really enjoy watching you make your freezer meals because you also show what the meals look like after you actually made them. Also, thanks for the info on the silicone wedding rings.

Yes ..love the meat chopster. We first saw it on Six Sisters and ordered one but I also scooped up a bunch at the Dollar Tree and gifted to my family and friends.
GREAT job for you generous giving of the meals....as well as sticking and feeding your own family.
    Keep up the great work.
