So sorry to hear this. I've been involved in the 'substance use' community for about 8 years in the UK, and thankfully fentanyl hasn't made it this far North YET. Apparently the South is full of it. Generally fentanyl would be more likely in heroin, but even crack cocaine has a massive problem recently with a cutting agent that has recently started being use, called Levamisole, which is a de-worming agent for cattle, but causes skin lesions and necrosis in crack and cocaine users.

I cannot find any explanation for why any dealer would put fentanyl in their customers cocaine, and I have looked!

Doubt that very much, but if you think so, wait a little longer. Fentanyl isn’t the thing to really worry about if you use test strips before using.
Levamisole is extremely dangerous, little harder to detect, and very difficult to clean levamisole out of your fluffy white icing sugar.
