Another useful and informative video, Jim. An experienced walleye guy taught me to set my dipsy to release at approx. 2 lbs. I also take a very fine piece of sandpaper to run through the release point....smooth. Thank you!!

Maybe I’ll try using scale to set them and make it a tip. Thats awesome info thanks. Great idea for using sandpaper too. You rock.

@@JimHanleyfishing Well, I'd like to take credit for this, but I mainly steal ideas from guys who know far more about these things.....such as yourself. I guess it makes sense to set the Dipsy at 2 lbs, hoping that most fish we catch are bigger than that....anything smaller should be easy enough to release the Dipsy. I'm just here to learn. lol Thanks again, Jim. :)

Thanks for the great video. I was wondering once it gets set what does the Dipsy do to let you know that there's a fish on?

@ronhicks8193 thanks for the great question. Sometimes it’s only a twitch of the rod tip like a bluegill bite when it’s a small fish or the rod tip will go slack. When it’s a bigger fish it will pop and the rod will bend big time.

I've been told bigger walleye are deeper in the water column compared to the upper column. Do u have any belief in that

Can’t confirm or deny that one. I’ve caught walleye up to 10lbs 15 feet down over 80 feet and caught big ones in 15 feet of water. They usually travel In schools according to their size…usually that is. Thanks for the great question.

I run 3 dipseys per side, but I run mini spoons on 6ft leader.

Another video on your speed / running 6 rods- just an idea .

Noted! I never fish more than 4 rods and seldom over 1.7. I have some really good old school videos from mark brumbaugh at the beginning of the list. Techniques that are as good as gold.
