    • @driver667
      @driver667  Месяц назад +1

      That wires were removed by around 2000 as there were no freight or country passenger trains using the overhead any more and the suburban train system boundary was Pakenham. The overhead was in need of a lot of work so down it came. 👍😀

      @driver667  Месяц назад +1

      @@nickstransportvlogs the new track arrangements at Pakenham East are great and do fix the problem at Pakenham that used to see three trains wanting to use two platforms at once. But as stated, a third or fourth track along the corridor is required to allow an express train to run freely. 👍😀

    • @nickstransportvlogs
      @nickstransportvlogs Месяц назад +2

      @@driver667
      Sure the layout of East Pakenham can fix the bottleneck, but the problem seems to come right back when delays and disruptions occur.
      One time, 8460 from Bairnsdale got delayed by 40 minutes because Metrol is stupid enough and don’t think straight, when they’ve let a HCMT be in front of 8460.
      And yes, separate tracks allow express trains to operate without any hassle by being stuck behind a local train, but I think four tracks would be more appropriate for a line that is heavily used by Metro, V/Line and freight trains (only two, one going to the apex siding in Westall, the other to the paper mill in Maryvale. There’s soon to be more if that inland terminal in Dandenong South is built).
      Three tracks would only permit express trains heading to one direction, this is the case with the line to Box Hill (from Burnley) and Moorabbin (from Caulfield).
