  • Travel with the train driver as we travel from Nar Nar Goon to Cardinia Road in the East of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia over the new Pakenham Skyrail that was built to eliminate the level crossings in this area in an N class diesel electric locomotive. July 2024.

    Nice to have a view from both directions in both train types. I was also hoping for an N class view, but again, it looks like you were already ahead of me :) Great video as always.

    I think this is the first time I've seen the same section of track two days in a row, just in the opposite direction.
    I can just imagine Darryl Kerrigan from The Castle, sitting on the train singing We're going to Nar Nar Goon, or from Nar Nar Goon as the case might be.😁

      @@vlinenclasstrains I think enjoyment is a given if it's an N class. ☺ Just hope for no Vlocity or Road Coach replacement. 😉It IS the Gippsland line after all.

    I really enjoyed this video and the other one that goes in the opposite direction. Great view of skyrail and East Packenham station arrangements. Just another question that you may be able to answer. Will the Victorian government extend the Cranbourne line to Clyde considering the amount of new houses being built at Clyde? They can adopt skyrail to avoid the roads in the area.

      @@frankbanner8572 I believe there are plans to extend the Cranbourne line but I don't know what the time frame is for it. Very happy to hear you enjoyed the ride through the Pakenham skyrail. 👍😀

    What sort of signal is that at the end of Cardinia Road Platform, city end?

      @@ethansrailwayvlogs that's an automatic signal just like the others except it's missing the black round background that is usually surrounding the light. 👍😀

    @3:35 track point so this train can stop at East Pakenham station even though its not required to.

      @@driver667 i think it would solve the problem when the service from Taralgon to southern cross when the previous Pakenham station was there the train had to wait for the Metro train depart from one of the platforms now thats all resolved.

    Question: why does melbourne trains not exceed 80km/h except between hoppers crossing and werribee. I was on one earlier this year with my gps speedo on the mernda, frankston and glen Waverly lines. I dont know about the other lines, i am not from melbourne.

      @@user-iy4vg7kt6k 80kph is the average speed limit across the suburban network but there are a number of places with limits of up to 115kph and even 160kph on the sunbury line although the suburban trains are limited to 115kph. Only vline trains run up to 160kph. 👍😀
