Lived in Burnie for 40+ years, my wife is Tasmanian born and bred. We left 7 years ago to be with family in Perth WA and still miss the place but being here has been a literal life saver for both of us. Burnie is still our favourite place in Australia.

You cannot beat Tasmania for beautiful scenery, especially along the coast. Would have liked a camera sweep of the drivers stand to see what the controls look like. Looked to me a "Driver Only" operation too? Decent set of horns for a little loco. Really enjoyed your video, very professional and many angles, thanks for the hard work you and your team put into the video.👍👍

The TQAY class wagons are interesting. They look like they are permanently coupled in pairs with a straight bar between them, at the front of the first and at the rear of the second they have a conventional coupling to connect to the next set.
We will be going back to Tasmania when Don River Railway start excursions on the main line.

Just recently, a Tas Rail locomotive collected a Ute at a level crossing. Luckily for the Ute driver, he bailed out before impact,a rather rare occurrence on Tassies railways,l noticed the crossings here had no booms

What a great video this is. TAS rail will be pleased ????
When I moved to Ulverstone 12 years ago I would often race the train to Burnie on a sunny day. It is one of the best scenic railways I have seen. The best I have done is from Menton in sth France along the Cinque terre in Italy . I like the editing with various views. Probably too slow for ordinary people but perfect for railway lovers.

Be interesting to see why they can’t run a passenger Sprinter style service along the north coast serving cities and towns there and another one north- south from Hobart to Launceston.

I think the problem is that the freight trains don't run to a time table and it's a single track.

passenger numbers would not warrent a regular service. thats why passenger services ceased all over tassie 50 years ago. Don river railway would like to start a tourist run from devonport to penguin again but it is getting the neccessary agreements in place that is holding it up plus run roungd loops would have to be installed again

A tourist service has big potential with the scenery Tasmania has. First though, insurance, work instructions, standards for rolling stock, modifications to the network to handle the passenger operations. There's a fair bit to do but I am hopeful it happens. 👍😀
