Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"!
Everyone (Except “The Cape Crusader”) Knows that Unit # 2 is Reserved for the Crews to GO # 2. 😬👍
Opportunity missed. A close up of the dog taking a dump in the flowers are 1:58 mark. Ashland VA. 😂
Hopefully they cleaned it up
@@kenm3245 they seemed to be oblivious. So I do not think so.
CSX and like Hollywood Squares "X" marks the spot but it wasn't the coal train so it wasn't a rotary dump
The accommodations train in Revelstoke is so cool, what a nice catch.
Is that what that is? Thanks!
What’s an Accommodations train?
@Bill5071 it's accommodations for the MOW track crews when no hotels are nearby
How large are those crews?! That was a loooong train! 😮 12:47
That’s a Canadian thing!
The SD9 trailing behind the FP9 was built in the same era, 1954 to '59. The longevity of old EMDs never ceases to impress me.
there was also an SDP40/SDP35 (technically not the same era but still)
1:33 This is an incredible amount of welded rail. It looks like they're building a whole new sub with that amount of steel.
That was about 7 miles of rail, or 3.5 miles of track.
One of the last cars with welded rails STILL HAS THE CHEESIE CAT 🐈 😻 , HOORAY!!
I wonder how big a crew the work train can accomidate?
As I watched the accommodations train rumble through, all I could hear in my mind was the late Gordon Lightfoot's song "Canadian Railway Trilogy."
A song that stays with you for a lifetime.
"So over the mountains and over the plains
Into the Muskage and into the rain
Up to St. Lawrence on the way to Gaspé
Swingin' our hammers and drawin' our pay..."
@ch997It would be a much better auto-response to a CP unit than "Wonka, wonka, wonka...
@@joepeach997It's muskeg
The "Celebrating Gordon Lightfoot" concert at Massey Hall this May wil include his band and other musicians like Burton Cummings. See you there.
@@joepeach997 I hadn't thought of it while watching that train, but now I will.
The music and the sunrise at the end caught at my heart--and I learned that concrete ties are a thing! I don't think I've ever seen any before--at least not knowing what they were. Thank you--another great one!
My grandson had fun with the sign at FMD. THANKS!
5:58, that colorful consist takes me back to the 2000s.
Thanks VRF - Great Lash-Up of Locos at Great Plains, Wichita.
"This is why you never give up on watching a virtual railfan live camera feed. Even if it takes forever, You might find something very rare. It takes patience." - me, From past experience.
@googlefan11: You are so right, I usually watch the Flagstaff cams daily, but I had guests over far past the #3 arrival and departure, so I'd gone to the feed, with the intention of catching the arrival and departure, so in realtime, I noticed the lights and the gates coming down, and the lights from the locomotive. I could see it approaching, but as I waited it appeared to move very slowly, I began to watch, and I thought must be something wrong with the engine, and was shocked when it stopped altogether, I thought what a spot to breakdown completely, especially when I saw the engineer come around with his spotlight, walking past his lead engine and 2nd engine. I then switched to my other view and saw eventually he was joined by others going back to the otherside again, then coming down out of the 2nd engine with a guy wrapped in that blue blanket. What a priceless surprise that turned out to be. I hadn't considered people actually did something like that. I always thought that when my dad used to tell us kids that he, two of my uncles, and a couple of their friends used to do that, traveling the country that it was just to entertain us. That the security was of the highest levels. Now I've witnessed it live. I feel a bit sorry for the young man and hope he won't be dealt with too harshly. I probably will raise someone's ire saying that, but it's how I feel, so save all your Yada, Yada, Yada, about a crime, stealing etc. I Get It!!
21:20 the sneaky triple meet. Did anyone notice the bottom head of the signal drop from yellow, whence it was near perfectly between the two locomotives? Talk about a window of opportunity!!
I hope the padded cell was comfortable...
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, especially the Heritage Units, a Darwin Candidate in Elkhart, Indiana, and so much more, @Virtual Railfan, I like them all, thank you very much.
Those passenger cars at the beginning have such a unique design
The kawasaki M8 EMUs
These are two M8 cars (electric multiple units) typically used by Metro-North Railroad on the New Haven Line and the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) for the Shore Line East. The railroad cars are manufactured by Kawasaki. The pantograph for the electric units is in the down position. I am assuming they are being shipped to the east coast.
@@charlescrawford7039 I'm surprised. I would've thought they'd be made in Yonkers.
@@DTD110865They are made in Lincoln, NE.
26:28 I've always wondered how they offloaded those railroad tie bundles
Busted !
What a great lash up in Wichita, lots of crossties on gondolas in Roanoke and EMD exhaust sparking!🛤🚂
Another classic with a great ending what a beautiful sunrise to end with... You will notice I've missed two GBs will try and catch up later... more greetings from another GB!! (Great Britain aka United Kingdom Of ~ ~)
They would notice that I haven't made a comment! 😂

Nice footage!

Aw! I was just being sad the other day about how you never see any L&N paints any more.
Looks like that one covered hopper with all the blue graffiti must have sat still and in an unguarded place for a bit too long
So at Revelstoke Cam: What are the COFC that look like living quarters for section gang?
Awesome another new VR Grab Bag and a lot of great train action thank you.

What is the reason for the boards between the tracks in Ashland? Something related to the new ballast?
There are several pedestrian crossovers. They are actually wider than they appear and are made of asphalt.
9:49 What was that about? Did someone actually sleep in a train cab? O.O
Philippine in canada 🇨🇦🇵🇭
6:04 What is the number of this warbonnet? Also, I caught those three units a few weeks ago. Surprised they haven't ventured further. A year before that, I got on that very AC FP9 and took a selfie, unit 1751.

2:34 i find this very funny that i was doing a pose inspired by cuphead
LOL, now I get that! We have a lot of viewers that have been around for a while so I figured I use the OZ theme. The original concept of Cuphead was probably from around the time of OZ though. Funny either way.
It was fun to watch anyway...and you showed up twice!
Why are people so careless at crossings?
How far did that stow away travel? There are actual YT channels of jerks "riding the rails" illegally.
Chriskent helio
That paintwork on 1836, 1850, 1897 and 1982 look awful.
What’s the cpkc accommodations train for?
Work train service. It was actually more than one train. I'd guess it was 4 trains altogether. Possibly more.
CPKC is spending a lot of money 💰 to upgrade the BC side of the Rockies this summer
