The LP exists to suppress the freedom vote. It's a group of people who claim to understand how to make things work the best, but manage to do it the worst. I paid money to be a card carrying (l)lbertarian, but seeing the nucleus of the party scream and yell at Trump who said he would give positions of power to the LP in his cabinet/admin... I realized the LP has no way forward as it's more concerned with being the most open boarders dumb dumbs than actually getting in a position of power where they can roll back that power. The LP leaders are fakes.

As a Gen Z, Dave is to me what Ron Paul must've been for him and so many others. My worldview has completely shifted over the past few years as a result of this podcast and guests like Scott Horton and others coming on. Prior to covid, I was bought in wholesale to the neocon, right wing, perspective and I feel so ashamed for supporting forever wars and policies that have bankrupted and eroded our country. Dave and Rob both were a huge part of getting me to that point and I can't thank them both enough for their work on this podcast and being willing to put a lot on the line to tell people the truth.

Winning the election with your "team" is great, but I want to vote for something I believe in, not for the lesser evil. Mr. "Armed & Gay" isn't for me, and as an armed & gay man I don't like him. Anyone who supports private businesses requiring a vaccine to enter their establishment is my enemy. Anyone who supports grown men in drag being around kids is my enemy. In principle private businesses should be allowed to require vaccines. That said, they never did before covid. Yet people like Chase expect me to believe they reached that position entirely of their own volition and not due to the incessant propaganda of the cathedral and the threats of the state. It is fucking absurd and I wish people who called themselves libertarian would stop running cover for the state in that kind of situation. To use a tired comparison, it is like being in 1935 Germany and saying "Private businesses should be able to bar Jews from entering their stores". It is completely useless to say because we're not actually talking about free markets, we're talking about a situation where a totalitarian government is propagandizing people to behave a certain way and treat a subset of people as the other. Progressives like Chase are an embarrassment because they speak in platitudes about state power, but will always fall in line in the most important moments on the most important issues while using libertarian principles as a cover for the state. It is really despicable.

Dave's unwillingness to say Rectenwald was a bad candidate is concerning. I know he's very loyal to his friends, but there has to be a lessen learned here. Rectenwald had 0 charisma and was a terrible communicator, which is EXACTLY what we don't want in a presidential candidate.
Now Rectenwald (and Heise) has been throwing a tantrum and blaming everyone else for the loss, which makes him look even worse.
At the end of the day, Joshua Smith was a better candidate and would have had the best chance of winning with the Mises Caucus support. I have to believe that Dave knows this.

If libertarians want to move the needle, flood the republican zone and form a Libertarian caucus. We have the winning ideas capable of shifting policy conversations in a way that moves the needle. Just get a few seats with the right liberty minded butt. It diminishes the socialist agenda and actually turns the GOP into a viable instrument. Who is Dave Smith to call the party and it's efforts a failure?
He is an leading advocate, but not a leader. He abdicated that years ago. Sure, he had his reasons, but he did significant long term damage to the movement and these are the echos. He doesn't do the leg work, he's an advocate.
If he wasn't going to step up to the needs of the moment like he did, he should have propped up Clint Russel or someone before just trying to quietly duck out of the things he set in motion. Instead he just dropped everything and disappeared, then reemerged with the story of his son and catching covid. You knew you were having a child, you dont think you could have spent those months leading up trying to make the next "Dave Smith" to pass the torch to?
Thank God for Angela McArdle. How she was able to do what she did when Dave slinked away JUST as things started to take off is incredible.
Now you declare "failure" like this is just some unfortunate turn of events and not consequences played out in a 4year cycle.

I believe the summation of all of this is that Libertarians (which I am one) need to now rally hard around Trump. We need to punish our own party for nominating buffoons over and over again and go for the candidate who is at least “libertarian-curious” and closer to our economic and foreign policy positions. Don’t let Perfect be the enemy of the Good.

Rechtenwald was my favorite but he just wasn’t charismatic enough. Even if he was nominated I still would have voted Trump just because I I’m in a swing state which can’t be handed over to Biden. Biden is as un-libertarian as it gets.

Dave, start the Republican Libertarian Party. Funnel out those freaks making the LP look foolish. You'll receive more consistency of candidates, like the Thomas Massie's of the world, the Paul's, the Larry Elder's etc. You can bring along Tom Woods, Lew Rockwell, also, young up and coming conservatives with libertarian hearts that hear your message both in your podcasting and in the comedy scene. Even Ron Paul had to run as a Republican. Ron Paul had class, very intelligent, and both parties respected, and were terrified of him. You seem to be cast of the same mold as Dr. Paul. let's go Dave!

I commend Dave for taking responsibility for insinuating his presidential run and not going through with it derailed the movement. Left everyone not knowing what do to do. I will never blame a man for choosing family over something, so no I’ll will towards him. However, it was the perfect setup. The MC took over the party, he had his guys ready to roll and could have made big waves with Rogan, Tucker, PBD. The Party is done now. I don’t see the MC rebounding unless disassociating completely and starting something new. Libertarian is like the word Anarchism. Bad connotation.

I don’t know if Dave reads these comments, but it should be said, termaat should not be given this “love and war” pass. What he did is the kind of underhanded duplicitous shit we expect from the establishment. Libertarianism is supposed to be better. And to do this at what is certainly the most dangerous time in our lifetimes is unforgivable. He deserves the harshest scorn at every opportunity.
And, please dude, if we even make it to another cycle, run. You are our fucking man.
