But how then do kind, well meaning, intelligent people find their ways into leadership positions in government as opposed to these sleazy type B narcissists with personality disorders? Is it possible for good people to get into politics? It appears to be something that needs to change. The world is going to continue to be a nasty place if we're left with the Bidens and Trumps of the world to choose from. RFK jr is a no brainer improvement, but nobody thinks he can win. He is a step in the right direction, no doubt.

Eric's point is very similar to what Tucker Carlson said a while back: that both political parties run on platforms that bear almost no correlation at all to what voters say are the issues most important to them.
I don’t know about that seems like conservative people care about abortion and taxes and border security and feeling good about America.

There are lots of instances of genuinely good people running for office and not winning because WE THE PEOPLE couldn't be bothered to even spend a half a day once every 2 years to seriously research these candidates and to vote for integrity rather than idle promises and technicolor TV ads.

One of the issues I have with Eric Weinstein is that he will say something completely unclear, and then just sit there and act like you should totally know what he is talking about, and then you have to prod him to get an explanation to some arcane point he is trying to make.
American political parties are a -troth- trough (apparently I can't spell) .
No explanation, just sits there smugly acting like that sentence makes any sense absent an explanation. He does this all the time, and it bugs the crap out of me, to the point that I can barely stand to watch him in conversation.
He does it with Chris Williamson more than anyone else because Chris wants so badly to be thought of as smart.

That's just stupid. There are a few good Dems and many excellent GOP-especially the ones who are viciously attacked via the corporate press, so they lose elections because people believe the swill, rather than look at politicians actions, votes, platforms and ethics! There is a Congressional record., same for the states. . You can know this, do a little research for heaven's sake and stop making inane, lazy slogans as predictions.
This is how the world has always been. It's social media that brought it to light, as it brings the news out in real time and I totally agree with him when it comes to invisibility.
Eric always talks in riddles and answers most questions with questions. That is why some of us say he speaks a great deal of nothing. Sometimes he's on point, but often he's incredibly elusive.
I call it self absorption. It’s a form of intellectual narcissism. The sad thing is, I’m not sure he can help himself.

Eric is speaking purely in riddles, on everything, at this point. And not just riddles, but poetic cinematic riddles-like a character in a tense scene of a psychological thriller. You're not alone in this opinion.
I like the general ideas this guy brings up but he comes off as such a conceited "I know things neither you nor anyone else knows" narcissist that I can hardly stand listening to him. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt - maybe he's well meaning but simply can't communicate. Regardless, I don't find him worthy of attention.
First and foremost, he is NOT a good communicator and, in fact, comes off as incoherent at best and arrogant at worst. Sure, he has some good ideas and seems to be a contrarian by nature (I am too), and yeah maybe you could argue what he's doing is using "metaphor" but why? Why not simply speak plainly for people to understand. Why be so cryptic? Why be so obtuse?
He's speaking this way to be more theatrical or to come off as being "deeper" than he really is. He's not this being who's just so smart he's thinking on a level beyond what us plebians can understand, he's just a guy who can't seem to communicate intelligibly.
Many of his sentences are just empty and lacking in genuine content. He simply hints at possible things, gives cryptic responses, or just babbles incoherently. Yes, he makes some interesting points but a lot of it is incoherent rambling and, I'll chance a guess, confabulation.
It's not that I or others didn't understand what he might've been trying to say - we're all likely intelligent enough to understand the general picture. But it's the way he goes about it that raises red flags for so many of us.
In fact, I would wager serious money that the more intelligent and/or educated one is, the higher the likelihood they would find Eric Weinstein to be an unreliable source of information.
I'll also add, as mere testimony, that I've known people like this - if you're seeing something special, I'm sorry to say it's likely smoke and mirrors.
Mr. Weinstein: Stop pausing for dramatic effect so much as if we're just hanging on every word you say. You're not the smartest, richest, wisest, sexiest, most educated, most interesting or most accomplished person who's been on this podcast.
Again Mr. Weinsein: You're just one of many who may have some interesting perspectives and ideas to present but that's it. Just say what you mean, give your honest opinion without all the theatricality, and have a real, genuine conversation.

Eric Weinstein is being as honest as anyone can be. Most of us don't know what to do with ourselves as it pertains to the state of the nation. His introduction about a two party trough was spot on. We have to get rid of the current political class who are bleeding our treasury and dragging our sons and daughters into wars to make donors happy. They have to go.

This is a great point. Lots of people with intelligence, courage, and integrity can point out the corruption in our government, and how we need much higher quality people. But none of them actually run for office, b/c the game is too nasty. Who would want to work or fight with a bunch of corrupt a-holes for a multi year term.
Even if a decent person were to get into office, among other mostly lower character people, and tried their best, they would be blamed for what they failed to achieve more than praised for anything they accomplished. And those that opposed them would slander them via the media, like they make RFK Jr out to be a kook, b/c he actually dares to talk about fighting the corrupt system itself. It's a very unappealing life path that does not beckon to good people who don't enjoy conflict.

That isn't a belief, it's an inevitable consequence of the Citizens United ruling. How many billions do you need these days if you want to field a viable third-way Presidential candidate? Bloomberg in 2020 vaporized $1 billion (very badly) on a 104-day campaign and didn't move the needle (although he didn't use the debates to). Andrew Yang came and went. Bernie 2016 was derailed by the superdelegates setup. All seems like compelling evidence to me.

Why can't we have people like Eric making decisions
It's because we have allowed the politicians to corrupt the voter by giving them freebies from the treasury and now most voters won't vote for a guy like Eric because he would probably cut fat out of the system and that would hurt if it was your fat.
How do you know we don't? (I would think we probably do). And what does "a person like Eric" actually mean? I imagine if the world were run the way Eric wanted, there would be a lot of unhappy people who think he's an idiot, because that's going to happen no matter who is making the decisions.
I love hearing people talk about how smart they are
Eric Weinstein is probably the most interesting individual who's intelligence astounds me. He is always fascinating to listen to and make you stop and think of all sides of a topic. Excellent interview by Chris - letting him speak and teasing out answers to unquestionable questions that we ponder on but not game enough to raise in public was exceptional.
I have no idea how this guy has a popular podcast, or how Eric agreed to be on the podcast, or how Eric even tolerated this conversation. What does a sane world look like? Remember, we are a world of 8 billion, a country(US) of what, 330 million, all with different interests and beliefs. Governing 330 million people is not easy, and democracy is inherently messy, there are 330 million individual viewpoints and ideas, and never a consensus. So again, could you tell me what sane looks like, in that context?

I really agree with this analysis. The only thing that I would add is that if someone's behavior doesn't make sense, it's usually not because you or they are crazy; it's because you're missing a critical piece of information. In my opinion that information is that the smart folks who used to run for office have concluded that the system is irrevocably broken and a crash is coming. The ones that don't know or don't care and just want to feed at the trough are what we're left with.
It would actually take a miracle for this mess to turn around,,,, I appreciate the people 🙏💕👏🏻who are trying !!
Eric is utterly in love with himself. I used to watch him for his unique perspective until the last year or so. He bathes in his Arrogance and narcissism while putting others down. I made it through this one but it hurt lol

Eric is my favorite thinker. Out of all of you online guys, whom i do also appreciate, Eric has the most depth. Every time he opens his mouth he has a lot to say and the only people who won’t notice that are the ones who are looking for someone to hand them all of the answers. Eric doesn’t do that. The depth and thoughtfulness of his answers, especially when Chris keeps trying to nail him down, speaks volumes i wish everyone could hear.

I search for Eric Weinstein everywhere. He speaks so concisely and when he speaks, he speaks about things that matter. And he makes me feel less crazy because everyone else seems to think what's going on is bloody normal!
I used to think that Eric & his brother were both very smart, free thinkers...I no longer feel this way.

Eric did make an interesting comment. He mentioned about the world not being sane (Starting at 6:25) He mentions about questioning one's sanity, and this is one problem of a managed reality. We are being fed a reality.
