While Nike is a brand that is known to take risks and try new things as it relates to football boot tech, the one thing they've never messed with over all these years is the Tiempo Legend. With a super soft kangaroo leather upper more or less being a guarantee. For 2023 however, that changes. For the first time ever, the Tiempo has gone full synethetic!
In today's video we take a closer look at the Nike Tiempo Legend 10 Elite, a boot that replaces natural kangaroo leather for Nike's new Flytouch Plus synthetic! Nike is claiming this synthetic material is softer than natural leather, but is that actually true? Is it possible for a synthetic upper to feel just as good or better than the Tiempo Legends familiar kangaroo leather? Have Nike made a huge mistake? We discuss all there is to know about the latest Tiempo entry, compare it to the previous model and decide whether or not you should be swapping your leather Tiempos for a synthetic pair. It is, I have a wide foot (can’t fit into the new vapors or rhe Adidas crazy fast). These fit snug but not uncomfortable at all, can’t wait to properly break them in this upcoming week.

Would love to see how they square up againts the K-better Puma kings, from your perspective of course. Like the idea of both of them, but see them as very even competition right now, at completely different price points. Bought some Furon v7 pros because of your reviews rather than more expensive speed boots and was not disappointed!

@@zellxtv there’s a limit of course. I like a very snug toe box, like very snug. But not to the point of pain or actual cramping.
@@enzog1078tight is good on a k leather boot as it will stretch half a size and mould. Not on plastic shoes.

Hey Josh hope to see the review for the new laced* tekela and good to see you have just done the tiempo. 2 questions are you going to review the new adidas x model and are you going to review the MIJ MORELIA Neo 4? I saw they increased the price. Is it worth an upgrade from the Neo 3?
For me this is its own thing rather than the continuation of the tiempo. Rather it’s the unofficial CTR360 maestri or Magista Opus

Lets be real here. Take-down models of leather boots have always been made of synthetic materials because it is cheaper. The move from leather to synthetic from Nike and Puma has nothing to do with the environmental impact of leather or accommodating the California and Oregon markets. This has everything to do with profit margins.
1) I agree; I view this as a cost cutting measure rather than improving a product.
2) Take-down models (Pro & Academy tier) of the Tiempo Legend 9 are in fact made out of leather... which makes this change hurt even more. I used to be able to buy well-fitting take-down models but now they are a thing of the past

It’s also these brands trying to push the whole “leather boots and leather uppers are obsolete” BS… it’s nothing to maintain their profit margins. Puma have done it twice with the King and it didn’t yield any success

@@alexisrodriguez408 Awesome! Wore them twice now and like others have said, very CTR360 like, but retained the exact same feel that I've come to know and love from Tiempo's. Synthetic material definitely made a difference with structure on the turf shoe, I felt like I had way more support and lock down than any other pair of turf shoes I've seen or tried on. Grip on the ball, great. Felt like wearing a pair of socks, comfortable, yet snug and strong in the good ways.
Mine came in yesterday the 12.5 has space on the side the heel part is stitched I would say they are very comfy for wide foot

The legend 10 is actually pretty good ,I thought it would be bad since no leather but it’s actually very good for touch ever since I have been using it I have been very good the touch on it if pretty good also the shooting

Always liked tiempos. The 9 were the sweet spot for him. Both FG and SG. As he's still growing I've bought 4 pairs of 9's for tge future then it will probably be mizuno.
Nike have ruined not only the tiempo but the tiempo when they had just got it perfect.

Is the soleplate on the Elite model better than the pro model? I had the Legend 10 pro for 5 weeks (AG) and the soleplate cracked...
Until the crack it was the best budget football boot I've ever worn.

I bought these as a wide foot option... Have worn them once, then was pretty much crippled for the rest of the day! Not sure I can ever wear them again....
I think they should have preserved the Tiempo name and just introduced a new model , i.e. CTR 4.

Hey Josh, I just tried on the United pack and the Shadow pack for the Nike Tiempo Legend 10 elite and I noticed that the material for the United pack is stiffer than the Shadow pack. The United pack feels much more like plastic. Have you tried on both pairs? Have you noticed the difference in materials? Do you know why there is a difference in material? I would love to hear your input!

These boots are the same price but synthetic materials dont last nearly as much as natural leather and they bio degrade much much slower than anything natural. This is just pure marketing bs in order to sell a cheaper product for the same price

They’re pretty different in terms of fit and feel. The MIJ Morelia 2 is the single most comfortable football boot in the market in my opinion. Being a fan of leather boots, I’d pick those over almost anything. If you like more of that modern “speed” boot fit and feel though, you’d be better off with the Tiempos. Two great boots, it just depends on what you’re looking for

i know this is random, but is the $110 mizuno morelia neo 3 pro any good?
I have the more expensive version and they’re amazing. Highly recommend mizuno. I did pick up a og pair of the phantom venoms bc they were my favorite cleat I’ve ever worn
But the mizunos I still have and they’re easily second for my favorite pair of cleats.
Third would be a pair of tiempos I had way back in the day. I think they were the 6s.. but I could be wrong
RIP the Legend 9 elite . Just unboxed the 10s elite and will be sending them back asap . So tight and narrow on top of the mid foot , why change the design , if it’s not broken don’t fix it ☹️ . The Legend 9s for me are far superior and one of the best boots ever made . Now need to look for an alternative. Any ideas as what could come close to the old feel ? With Nike or any other brand ?
Just stock up on the legend 9’s if you can still find them in your size. With this new synthetic move it’s going to make the legend 9s 8s etc more valuable in the next few years.
Same here, also tried on and returned. Feels like any other synthetic, and yes the toebox is more tapered compared to the 9's. I was actually excited about Nike's k-leather replacement but it's nowhere near. And Nike conveniently won't let me post my review, gives an error message when submitting. ...those guys know all the tricks lol

They feel like an evolution of the CTR360. Less bulk, more streamlined, and a better feel for the ball. If you liked CTR360, you’ll like these 👍

Fraud Tiempos. If they care so much about kangaroos I'd rather it be calf leather over synthetic. But this is just a cost saving measure.

It wouldn’t hurt for them to go calf skin but going synthetic really takes away the charm of the tiempo. If anything I find these as it’s own thing rather than a continuation of the tiempos

Nike won't post my review, so I'll post here.....No denying this is a quality product, it's just not what the legend stood for. I was looking forward to Nike's k-leather replacement, but this is nowhere near leather. That soft and supple feeling is not there, it feels like any other synthetic. Toe box is narrower, more tapered in comparison to the last version, that paired with the fact that this new material won't stretch like leather results in a narrow fitting boot. I don't have particularly wide feet except mildly in the toe area, but I can see the wide foot legend fanbase moving to something else. The flynit heel fits loose, there's a weird pocket on both inner ankle area where I can fit a finger loosely, and given that these are the AG plate version, I can see a lot of pellets from the surface ending up in there.
I returned them so I can't speak for how they perform on field, maybe they'll break in like leather, but I just don't see that happening. Don't get me wrong, this feels like a quality boot, I can see the synthetic gang getting behind these, but they're just not what legends have been known for. The end on an era....

Death of the Tiempo line imo - give it a couple seasons, the sales will drop and they'll be discontinued.
