- Unloading a 300 meter coal bulk ship. Bucket crane with massive bucket close to the wheelhouse.
Here you see how it works when a coal bulk ship is unloaded with bucket cranes. In this port they used 3 cranes at the same time. Still it was needed with several days to offload this big 300 meter long bulk ship.
Sometimes the ship carries coal, and some times it carries iron ore.

Boa tarde, aqui em no porto de tubarão embarque de minério é todos os dias, também aqui em praia mole descarga de carvão todos os dias, à vista é impressionante , um outro mundo essa área portuária
good
How was the discharging rate?
Sou portuário avulso, deveriam divulga mais nosso trabalho, porque a mercadoria chega nas casas e às pessoas não sabem como chegou
fascinating
I was thinking the same thing!
I used to do the same when I was a kid.
I what port is this?
And how much each in each bucket?
How many " buckets" p h is required to meet targets?
Can you give me information about the grab capacity and how many tons?
Incredible! 300 meters is not a small amount...
how do you manage to pick-up ALL of the coal ??
Often they lower down a wheel loader, and it scoops up the rest in one pile. Sometimes a bulldozer.
Spent 15 yrs driving loading shovels in all size ships, during unloading, coal, grain, animal feed salt etc..

How long do ya think this takes 😂
ages
How many yards is that bucket
Several yards by the looks of it it will take all day
40 m3
Grab is probably 10MT so about 9m3. Reply below says 40m3 which would mean about 53MT of coal per grab which I don't think is correct. Biggest grab I ever saw was 20 or 25MT in Amsterdam - I was Radio Officer in UK merchant navy 1970s/1980s and was on a coal carrier ( a "collier") in Amsterdam loading coal from a much larger bulk carrier and the port was using the 20/25MT grabs. Took about 6 hours to fully load about 7,200MT of coal...
I am mobile harbor crane operator
Também sou portuário avulso aqui no Brasil ( espírito santo )
There has to be a better way. This would take days.
Grab discharge is usual for bulk coal discharge. I worked in UK merchant navy back in 1980's and watched many thousands of tonnes of coal, grain, bauxite and phosphates loaded and discharged... Maximum discharge rate Isaw was a full 7,200MT of coal discharged in 6.5Hours. Grain is sometimes discharged using suction, just like a huge vacuum cleaner - some vids on youtube.
If it's Coal - why is it steamy?
That's not steam, it's dust.
Jesus Christ. Some people are dumb!
Personally I blame squirrels
300 cubic metres of coal is 408000 Kg
I think my friend, the operator, said that the grip capacity of this machine is 40 cubic meters, not 300 cubic meters, and the load it unloads per hour.
300M is the ship length which makes it a Panamax Bulker. Thus weight of cargo maybe about 80,000MT.

Enjoy your new climate, folks! Just don’t complain when your home burns or floods or gets blown away.

Who's new climate are you referring to ,you live on the same planet as the rest of us
15 minutes of the same. Boring. Would hate to operate the crane.
Well, go away and watch something else. Try and be positive.
Well done. Nice to see.👍
