The fly by with the Spitfires and Hawker Hurricane was awesome!
Well I never, a Viking boatload of Hare Krishna speed up the Thames .... how surreal is that! Loved the WW2 fighter flypast too.
The character on the 'token' is samson breaking the pillars at the temple of dagon.
You are right!
As he pushed the pillars apart
Samson was appalled
For just before the roof fell in
Delilah said "He's bald!".
Spike Milligan.
Now that is interesting
Here in Norway we pay for the bottle as well as the drink and when it’s empty we pop them in vending type machines and get that money back. almost all bottles like this are returned to the shops, but it’s not perfect as there are certain types of plastic bottles that aren’t included in this system. When I lived in London, I always felt awful about bottles just becoming rubbish
Great to know! Thank you
There was a similar system Here in the UK for pop and maybe beer bottles but it finnised in the 1980's there are plans afoot to bring somthing like it back if the politicians and various parties can get their act together. at least one supermarket Co. has machines that take plastic bottles and give tokens to spend in store, more stores should take it up.
Same in Netherlands...
Here in the Netherlands we have the same system
same in Quebec and BC, Canada, some bottles returnable in Ontario. see how things work in Canada ?
I would love to see a wall in a pub that was half plain brick alternating with every second brick being a found/historical one. Tricky if the dimensions are all a bit different.
Maybe even slide in a few roman ones for good measure!
My wife and I look forward to your posting every Sunday. Great production value, great explanations of items found. Makes my wife and I wish we could join you there. My wife being disabled, she can only live vicariously Through you.
BE SAFE and keep UP the good work!!!
Thanks so much Alan! That means so much, wishing you and your wife much love! Give her my best wishes 👍🏻🐾🧡
from the glimpses of buildings I'd say you are very near the LFB HQ on Albert Embankment which might explain the buttons.
That metal triangle with the post on the back looks like an anchor used in masonry and wood structures. The post would fit in between a joist to stabilize the structure.
Sundays is Si- days ☺‼
Hello from Germany🇩🇪
Guten tag!
I don't know if anyone has said so, but those two hoops on the little whisky bottle are the two O's standing for Old Orkney
Sundays wouldn't be the same without Si-Finds! Crazy pseudo Vikings! Great fun!
Just wanted to say those were not extinction rebellion crew. They could be heard chanting hare Krishna !!! Which is a Hindu chants , they are a member of ISKCON . An international society dedicated for a Hindu god Krishna. Ironically mostly consisting of foreigners 🤣
Great finds - nice weather - old aeroplanes - super company & a viking ship full of Hari Krishnas what else could you wish for .. 😃 😃 😃
"....a viking ship full of Hari Krishnas...." lol, you just made my day!
It would be great to take all those bricks and build something, even if it was just a bbq. Interesting finds as always, enjoy the history of them too
I think that’s what Jules is planning
@@Sifinds 👍🏻
Britain has such beautiful architectural works
That Viking boat going down the Thames was actually really cool lol. Viking’s had such wonderful boat designs. The token was cool, so was the RAOB Pipe!
Cheers Adam!
You're such a nice guy taking the garbage 😍
8:50 Sometimes the put that sort of things in the pavement to direct you to a certain place or a city walk (as the markers for the 'jubilee walkway' for instance). Maybe the 'P' is to direct people to the nearest parking?
The token with Samson seems to be from the WWII days
Nice one
Thanks Si and Jules. Coins over the place that day. Even missed a few and a brass buckle. You are good stuards of the Thames . Makes me furious to see all the plastic. I agree we should just have stayed with glass. At least in a few states here there is a deposit on plastic you get back when you return it. Used to go collecting bottles as a kid to get ice cream money. Free clean up, kids stay busy and make a little money. Win win! Take care. Love the artwork
😊👍💜
It’s a great idea!
I found two of those amusement only tokens in Escanaba, MI on the shore. They were the size of a penny and had a hole in the middle. I was told by a collector they were made in the 1920s-30s and used in a "3 wheel bandit" gambling machine. These were common in various varieties. They were usually paired with particular "gambling" amusement machines and could be "cashed out" with the establishment proprietor thus staying under the radar of the law. Really great find!
Good info. Cheers!!
Dennis brickworks, in Ruabon North Wales. I use to live in the village next to it called Johnstown. When I was a kid we use to play around that area and then would explore the building when it finally closed down. Good times.
Cool!!
I’m so addicted to you and Nicola’s videos! Maybe one day I’ll make it to good ol’ London Town and see the Thames for myself. I’ve read so many books about the Thames. I love history and nature so this seems like a dream to me! I’d love to be a mudlark ❤️
My niece just ordered my Mudlovers t-shirt. Soooooo excited. I love love love your channel. Thanks Calgary Alberta
Yay!!! Thank you
Impressed with your finds Si. But there was a great deal of what appeared to be worked granite blocks all over the place, beautifully dressed stone!! To heavy to carry home unfortunately - worth a bomb....
Ooh, maybe cobblestones from the old street. Yeah bleedin heavy
The tooth will be a 'mammoth' find when verified! Well done! 👏👊
Another great adventure in the mud.
Fan from Augusta Georgia USA!
Hello, I am in Augusta Georgia as well. Saw someone else on here a couple of weeks ago who lives in Grovetown, small world.
@@cheryldurham3560sometimes it does seem small 😊
That lens might be out of a monocle, which is somehow even more evocative of the past!
Good theory x
Why are glasses not called binocles?? From hence forth, I will refer to my HD's as binocles.
The shovel falling into the mud on top of "Si Finds" - instant classic. Would look awesome in your video intros. >chefs kiss
Me toooo was just thinking this morning how much I love that effect!!
It will be from now on
The grenade like thing looks like a pine cone shaped cuckoo clock weight.
I am surprised it wasn't a grenade the amount of explosive items Simon seems to find on his travels.
I was thinking cuckoo clock weight too!
Yeah
@@wendynordstrom3487 Was going to suggest it too but others beat me to it.
Love the finds as always but the 3 Spitfires and 1 Hawker Hurricane flying over was a real treat 👍
My old English Gran used to say "See a penny, pick it and all the day you'll have good luck"... The same applied to finding a pin.
Here in Australia we get 10 cents for every plastic bottle we take into the recycle centre, We cash in bottles and cans every 3 month and get around $80 great for no effort.
The Dennis brick comes from Ruabon, a town in North Wales
Pushing over Roman pillars!!! Nice mudlark, thanks!!!😀❤😘
Hi from Norway! 🇳🇴💙🇬🇧 Hare Krishna onboard a ‘viking’ ship..?! 😆 I do not think there are two more things further apart than that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha right!?
Yes, that was pretty trippy
From Denmark 🇩🇰 second that
Thanks again for a wonderful morning on the Thames foreshore. I like all the finds from today especially the beat up 🤕 marble.
Yes poor marble. Thanks Heidi!
Thanks for watching Mudlovers. To see part one where I find the amazing mammoth tooth and loads more ruclips.net/video/aTeKjntQN_Y/видео.html
The mammoth tooth is wild! What a find! Top pocket for certain. The paste jar was my favorite find next to that tooth!
I don’t know what the draw of for the paste jars. They come in so many shapes and sizes. The one you found this video is quite small. And I love the pattern on it! Hope to see Poppy tag along with you and Jules soon!
Thanks Terese, I often sell some on my store if ever you want some?
How I wish I had done mudlarking when I was nursing in London. I love that bit of foreshore there seems to be a lot of items there.
Thanks Pheebs
Love your hunts. The glass piece you identified as eye glass lens, looks very much like a flashlight lens.
Interesting to see bricks and stonework that are local to me in Leeds. Although spelt Wortley, it's pronounced with 'ur' sound, Wurtley. Love your clips👍
"a dodgey American penny, no offense"
None taken 😆. We call them Stinkin' Lincoln's. The newer ones don't last very long without becoming corroded beyond recovery.
The amusement token is from the 1940s, Samson Novelty Company. It depicts Samson destroying the Temple of Dagon by pushing the pillars apart.
Nice one Jim. Thank dude. Hope you are well! 👍🏻🐾🧡
LOVE THE BRICKS. So many different makers. One in Nimmitabel NSW had a heart stamped in the middle of it. They set it into the kitchen fire surround.Hi Gazelle!
Another amazing adventure Simon. Plenty of fabulous finds (well jealous 😂🤣😅). Love the mammoth tooth. I would love to come down and potter about on the Thames. some pins and pipes would be great and any other bits .
Sunday wouldn't be Sunday without a vid from Mr Si Finds the epic Thames mudlark! Thank you sir, great finds as usual! 👍🇬🇧
Cheers Norm!
How awesome was that, awesome lark Si. My favorite still is the little whiskey bottle, love a good mudlark. Enjoy your week Si, till next time. 🇨🇦🐘🍁👣
Cheers Marion 👍🏻🐾🧡
@Matthew Feldvari Greetings yourself 🇨🇦🐘🍁
A thought occurred whilst watching the pair of you have so much fun. Imagine if there was a freak tide or .........whatever, and the Thames was drained for a day, WOW! Thousands of Mudlarkers all looking for luck in the muck. Just think, right back to pre-Roman times!
Enough fantasizing, thank you for this adventure.
Great finds once again! Please be careful on that sketchy ladder!! We wouldn't want to see you hurt, Simon!!
Yeah we will! Thanks x
23:40 - in-board motor powered Viking boat! LOL And the passengers looked like Hari Krishna's! LOL
The advertising token was neat but the mammoth tooth was simply awesome! You both made some fun finds. Glad the ladder held up for the exit! Good luck on your next hunt!
Cheers Karen! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Si and George, neat finds and great plane action. The coinage is always a treat...thank you! Have such a good time, Men....it is always slices of history with so much room for imagination to help visualize little pieces of the past. Just lovely!
Love that MUD always Good Time 😁😁😁👍👍👍👍👍
I love old type! I worked at my local newspaper for many years. I love anything having to do with the old-fashioned way of printing and publishing. Nice find!
Small, pretty finds, love the pieces of glass & the mammoth tooth! but a token is always an exciting find, too
- love from Denmark 🌸🌱
Cheers Z!!
"grenade" could have been a weight in a clock, like a grandfather clock
Possibly a pine cone design weight from a cuckoo clock
IPhone 12 is the newest,
Love the irredescense on the bottles it looks like
Lustreware, and AFS buttons great history, thank you for your Service!!!
Sundays wouldn't be the same without you ☺️,great finds
Aw thanks Roxy 🧡
I'll say it again for Part II, WOW what a great mudlark with Jules. A *beautiful set of Aux. Fire Service buttons,* a nestolgic & emotionally sentimental artifact for London. What an enviable roundup. Thanks again Si🧡 Dudley
Oohhh a sneak snippet of a new adventure with Steve! Sounds exciting 😀
It’s gonna be cool as mud!
Those trowels are a good idea. For some of the smaller things, I have seen some mudlarks use one half that size or even a small painters trowel. Some really nice finds. Nice way to spend a weekend. 👍
All those stones and bricks with names on them would make an interesting wall or bar-b-que pit. Maybe a border for a flower bed or garden.
Cheers Rob
From an American Friend; We may have a few "Dodgy" people in the USA but we are definitely your friends. Through thick and thin, our bond, our special relationship, that is something that will never be broken. Cheers!
Loved the Viking ship ! Also loved all of the amazing finds you both had and as always Sci Finds, I loved your video. Blessings and love on your journeys from Augusta Ga, USA 🥰🙏🏻🇺🇸
Thanks Cheryl!!
A documentary! It's the only thing I ever watch, I can't miss an historical one!
It’s ✨ Si - Sunday ✨ 😎
Great finds continue! Baby Tooth 🦣 love it! Your favs type set. I loved the air show!
Super great day! Thanks Si.
Thanks sis!!
So loving the boat. Looks like Viking shields.
I've been wanting to do this for a while now, perhaps on my next trip home.
I love everything you found, but especially the bricks. I appreciate your channel because I can watch from afar.
I can imagine picking up something from the past and marveling at holding in my hand something that hasn't been touched in years.
What a wonderful hobby do we have! 😁👍
Right!?
That's a great place for cool finds, you guys be very careful.
The Bears must love Mudlarking as well! XD
Pmsl
I so look forward to Sunday as I know my dear friend is posting a new video xxx
Cheers Courtney 👍🏻🐾🧡
Perfect timing I've just finished your back catalogue 🥺 loved it all & thought the way you were with your old mate in those interviews was lovely 👍 thanks for the videos.
Thanks Simon!! Appreciate that mate
Good morning Simon. Another fun video.
I love the fossil you found and intrigued as to what it Is, interesting finds again xx
Some great finds for both of you. The filming looks interesting so look forward to finding out more about that. Sorry am not in a position to become a patron but will always watch and like and share your videos. Have a good week xx
No worries. Cheers Gaynor!
The UK really needs to update their Airforce planes! ;) Nice Finds! I love history bits like that where you can find out information from the item!
Lol. Cheers Jon
Great shot of the early planes.
Cheers Judy!!
I love this! Best wishes from Brazil!
Awesome finds! Interesting tokens! The marble you found is a very old German Marble some are worth quite a bit these days.
The best video of Sunday!! Hugs from Brazil!!
Thanks Lara 👍🏻🐾🧡
Hello Simon. An early cup of coffee and the Thames! Just the best start to my day. Thank you so much. One day, just one day I’ll get back to lovely London, best city in the world
Cheers G
Sooo much to see. It's intriguing! I would stay for hours and hours! Great finds. There's a man that takes a different named brick home with him every time he goes. Making a floor for his patio. How amazing is that!
I too was in England and Scotland back in 1987
On a seminar for skin care
Wish I would have known about muslarking
I have metal detected
Love all the wonderful finds you all find!!
I am a true Treasure hunter
A right mixed bag today but my favourite is the alien. So cute 🤣
😂
1st to comment n 2nd to like
Awesome findings Really enjoyed n learned. The token is awesome.
I was pleased to see the ISKCON disciple roaming on a peacock boat chanting " Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare , Hare Ram Hare Ram , Ram Ram Hare Hare ."
You didn't pick up the doom shaped glass saying it a paper weight, ....actually these were used to read papers in Victorian era ..once they keep the glass over the words the words appear bigger n easy to read.
Enjoy
With Love from SAM
Guwahati Assam INDIA
Awesome information about the token .... I just collected a silver coin of William 4 King ( East India company) coin of 1835 , now I have all coins of Kings n queen of East India company n British Raj in India ( all silver coins from 1835 to 1947) YAHOOOOO
Good morning ☀️to my fav seekers of items, and their wonderful stories, from your historical river mud🌊🕳💦🤙😁❣️Thank you for the Viking river boat pic and song🎶and the vintage planes overhead‼️You and Steve are so charming in sharing your finds...❤️💙 Love you 😘
Cheers Sam!!!
I love when you show the history of the objects found with the old photos.
Are the old coins worth anything? If not, you can do as you do with the bottlestoppers and put it on your website. That does look more like a handle than a grenade.the design on the paste jar reminds me of the Celtic designs. Love the history of items and makers at end.
Thanks. Yes some are worth a bit, I like to collect them. But I like to share some of the more common finds with others
Part two just as good as Part one, some very lovely finds, what a great day you both had in your secret spot
Brilliant video Si. That was certainly a 'hot spot' !
Cheers John! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Love from the old lady in Texas may God bless you always
I love seeing your finds. It takes a real fine eye to spot the smaller bobbles and coinage. The research you add really completes the finds. Love the history and the stories! Well done!
PS Dodgy American coins is right! Maybe soon we're going back to the gold standard.👍🏼
Thanks so much!!
haha ! i like your star pose ! what a neat little spot you've found . Jules is a great mud-buddy too !
Right!
You always find amazing items on the Thames. Well done!
Thanks!
So interesting, as Always 🤩💪
Great finds for the both of you.
Cheers Jana
I love watching your adventures and appreciate you sharing them with us!!! I pray, someday, my adventures take me to the U.K. and mudlarking the Thames is first on my list!!! Again thanks, Simon, you're the best!!!
Thanks April!
Always fascinated by the variety of finds. Thank you
21:28 that has got to be the most beautiful sound ever! Hurricanes and spitfires flying formation. I remember hearing them as a child. I’m now 33 and it still gives me goosebumps! Sorry went a bit off topic there love the mud Larkin guys!!!!!!
I totally agree!
@@Sifinds if your ever around the Essex way man I’m from Canvey island. Plenty of history there I live right by where a b-17 went down during ww2 if that’s of any interest to you give me a shout I’ll happily show you guys around.
Lots of coins! 😍 I have been out mudlarking on the early morning tides of today and yesterday and though it wasn't enough for a bag of chips amongst other finds I did find £1.20 😂
Love the pile of type that you found.... was any of it the Dove type? I always love finding type! 😍
Well done on the plastic litter pick up at the end 🤗 -picked up a load of plastics and rubbish too over the weekend👍
Nice one Maarina! Not Doves, different area for that
It’s a weight from a cook-coo clock I think, shaped like a long pine cone
That was my first thought as well!
Love the Spitfire fly by..
Si, you ok? I saw Vikings invading London again. Going wright up the river.
Maybe you can convince them to take the Mammoth tooth to leave, or the Rubie
😂 cheers John
Congratulations on your engagement Simon😉
Haha!
Great video great finds.
Were the Spitfires called upon to sink the Krishna Boat? Was that a news Helicopter reporting it?!?!
Haha
