Shaping the Guitar Neck With a Spokeshave Tool - 17 - Custom Electric Guitar Build - 2007

Back in 2006 ....... I started a project which ended up being a sort of documentary on building an electric guitar from scratch. Completed in 2009 it became a DVD and now is being serialised here in around 30 chapter segments.
The back of the neck is shaped here using a spokeshave tool. This is a really nice tool which has lots of control and very quickly can round the back of the neck to the desired curvature.

I bought a cheap spokeshave from Amazon and it doesn't do any shaving at all. May be I need to put in some work to sharpen the blade. Do you know any product that I can buy which shaves right out of the box?
