    Some cabinetmakers like to have three spokesshaves for different purposes - one with a flat sole for flat work and rounded corners, one with a cambered sole for inside curves, and one with a concave sole for outside curves. You can get away with just one with a flat sole and a small curve in the front and rear for all three, wherein adjusting the depth of cut will allow you to get inside curves, and the flat portion of the sole will allow for flat work.

    • @asarendars

      They do make concave spokeshaves that would work for that. Although you could get it done with a normal flat bottomed one like this in the video I think.

    • @ScrapwoodCity

    @taser8 4 года назад

    Dumb question, but: what are the purposes of the thumb screw and regular screw? Should they both be tightened down? I understand that they're to lock the blade in place, but why are there two?

    • @bigkiv47
      @bigkiv47 3 года назад +1

      The smaller screw is just the loactaor screw for the red back place, it positions it in the correct spot to ensure correct edge position on the blabe. The larger screw is adjusted by hand to increase or decrease tension on the blade to either allow blade adjustment (loosen the screw slightly and either wind the blade in or our) or tighten to put pressur tr=hrough the back plate onto the blaade to =enable correct use when shaveing. Same thing as in a plane

    Come on now. These videos must improve. As well as being a woodworker with over 85 years experience and having never ever made a mistake, I am also an expert film maker. Let me give (okay, sell) you some advice.
    No music? What have you learned? You must have really loud, bass thumping, music to prove that you are one of the boys.
    Good camera angles just do not work. You must hang the camera upside down and take it out of focus. The way you are doing it allows everyone to see exactly what you are doing. Doh!
    Sharpening. You are really missing out here. You should be telling everyone that the best oil to use on the stones comes from the stones of the Alluerga tree - but only when it is grown on west-facing hills above a saline river. As it happens, only you have that combination but are prepared to sell some of your rare stock of alluerga tree at an enormous cost. So you make mega money and only send out rancid olive oil
    These are just a few of my suggestions to make your videos better and earn more money. I would add more but the straitjacket makes typing difficult and the nurse is due any minute with my medication. Well, it’s been great talking to myself and my pet mongoose who lives on my shoulder. Speak to you soon
