- Mazda build vehicles for people who love to drive. The CX-9 is a perfect representation of this and there are some changes for 2021. Under the hood is a 2.5L turbocharged inline-4 producing 250HP & mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Power gets to the ground through AWD system. On the outside of the CX-9 there are some changes to the grill and front fascia. On the inside you will find an ALL NEW infotainment system, and the Signature trim brings the highest level of materials. Is the updated 2021 Mazda CX-9 Signature the midsize SUV you want to BUY?

Yess that thing is sexy

I have the 2020 and it's an amazing ride. Tight, responsive, comfortable, fast, powerful....amazing
Same!
Hello Honda Guy.
After test driving the Highlander, Pilot, Telluride and Palisade, we weren't impressed with the handling, quality (or lack of) and ride with any of them. So after viewing a number of Mazda RUclips videos and researching the various SUV forums, that convinced us to at least test drive a '21 CX-9. Whoa, it was impressive and it wasn't even on our short list. It was a beautifully appointed, smooth riding, shifting and riding car, so we ended up buying a white CX-9 Grand Touring. For a big vehicle with AWD it drives like a much smaller one. We get 22.4 mpg in city driving, and no engine "start-stop" which was a pleasant surprise. Couldn't be happier.
Raiti still working on Christmas Eve, that's dedication to his fans! 😁👍
You guys are part of the family! Thanks for being so supportive!
If it was Shmee, he won't work on bank holidays
I'm very pleased with my 2019 CX-9 Grand Touring, it has done very well. Merry Christmas
Thanks for sharing that great input from your ownership! Merry Christmas Kenneth!
I almost boughy a 2019 cx9, because i love the way they look and drive. But then i had to quit. And there is only one reason why i am happy i didn't buy it then. It is the screen. It was too small for the car. I think the infotainment system is really cool and easy. Drives the best out of all the suv i test drove. I am really looking forward for what 2021 has for me, because, with the big screen, i really want one

At the end of its service cycle our(Edmunds)2008 Buick Enclave CX had accumulated 24,061 miles, enough to account for $994 in depreciation. Nevertheless, the Enclave depreciated only a total of 23 percent to $28,841 as rated by our True Market Value (TMV®).
This is a remarkably small amount of depreciation for a car in this category, especially when you consider the overall decline in utility sales. In comparison, the ongoing depreciation of our long-term Hyundai Veracruz stands at 32 percent while our Mazda CX-9 has lost 33 percent of its value.
This suggests to us that the GM crossovers like the Buick Enclave have already firmly established their identity in the marketplace, and the huge pool of Tahoe and Yukon owners provides a huge base of potential buyers.

Depreciation: $8,589 or 23 percent of original paid price

Joe. Thanks for this review. I've been a Mazda fan for years. I've parked 5 different Mazdas in my garage since 2002. At one time (2002) both my wife and I each owned and drove a Mazda6.

Not a good value.

That is expensive every 5,000 miles and too much interior wear for the mileage.
"...and the center armrest is showing some use." Motor Trend

Same. I've had my eye on the CX-5 for some time now. Every time I'm out I see these, or the CX-9. I'm definitely getting one of the two!
You were super busy in Texas, I see. Nice Mazda. Thank you for your awesome camera work, Lori!

Joe... the world cannot live without your amazing reviews... but they can on Christmas :) I hope you are taking a break and that you and the family have a great Christmas!!
The first time I had seen the previous gen CX-9 was when I want to the Grand Canyon and I was like what is this wonderful SUV .
You need to know something about "traction" on Mazda SUVs. I have two 2021, AWDs...CX5 and CX9. Great SUVs but the OEM tires suck. I changed them with Vredestein Quatrac Pro; wet traction is phenomenal. Also the tires have less rolling resistance, hence MUCH smoother ride. Even my wife who is NOT a car person noticed the difference in the ride. ALSO, for those in snow country, the tires are Severe Snow Service Rated (mountain symbol on the tire). "NO" I don't work for Vredestein, I just live by something my late father taught me when I got my first car many, many years ago, "Never go cheap on tires or brakes, they are your life line." Keep your great videos coming!
Merry Christmas Joe and to your wife buddy hope you all have a beautiful Christmas
Thanks Todd! Same to you and your family!
I'm a happy owner of 2017 Mazda CX-9 GT, what else is great about this car is the price! Bought it here in Canada for 35k Canadians, with low mileage 30K. Again Merry Christmas Joe and Lori! Keep up the good work!

Love driving any Mazda vehicle. Everything feels just right !!!!
I just bought the 2021 CX9 signature in Machine Grey. We were originally looking at the Mercedes GLC or GLB or Audi Q7 or the BMW X7. But we wanted all of the driver assistance features without having to spend so much. The other cars had only blind spot monitoring at their base price in the upper 40s. This car had all the latest driver assistance features and top of the line cameras and screen. And the interior is at the same high luxury level as the others. And the shape and aggressive hood looks HOT. Especially when the accent grille lights are on. We bought it for ~43,500 Christmas sale with mud guards and cargo nets.
It handles just like my 2016 Mazda 6. So sporty and tight. And totally worth it to run premium fuel to get the extra horsepower! The adaptive cruise helps me a lot with my commute to and from Manhattan. And the adaptive lights are great in the upstate curvy roads. I commute 3 hours daily with heavy NYC traffic and mountainous Upstate NY roads.
The one compromise: The cargo space and 3rd row is a tad smaller than the palisade and the telluride. I had to remove the cargo bottom cover in order to barely fit our uppababy vista stroller without having to put down the backseats.
Some ppl don’t like the middle console but it helps us since we have a baby in the second row for all her toys and bottles.
2 weeks in. I am in love with our CX9!
I love Mazda car specially the cx-9 and the CX-5. You can't be wrong with the color whatever you choose is always appealing to the eye, I love the Soul Red Crystal but this white is so attractive too. The interior is amazing too.👍👍

Thanks Joe and Merry Christmas. I currently have three Mazda vehicles due to reliability and no CVT. I purchased a 2020 Mazda 3 Touring based on your review for my son who is learning to drive. My wife's CX9 is great but time to upgrade maybe to the 2021. At the price point I have to zonk for no key fob remote start but you can use the My Mazda app.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your ownership! Merry Christmas!

I love Raitis rides. He encouraged me to get among my other potential choices for the cx9. Got a great deal on the 2020 signature and as a first time Mazda owner I LOVE it. It lacks in the space compared to a pilot, hi lander, and ruggedness to the grand Cherokee limited, but the interior is similar to a Lexus hands down and the cx9 drives like a car. I’m just upset that they made a larger screen this year and updated the infotainment system, lol.
A Christmas Eve Mazda video?! Merry Christmas to me!!
You are awesome Robby! Merry Christmas man!
@@RaitisRides the new interior of the CX-9 bodes well for the Mazda 6 re-design. THAT is what I’m waiting for.
I went to go test drive a CX-5 a couple days ago and I am impressed. I have driven Subaru for 15+ years and am leaning heavily towards Mazda! Steering is a bit too precise but I'm sure that is an acquired taste like sushi as is the gas pedal. One of my friends has a CX-9 and that's what I got me leaning towards Mazda.
The cx5 is nice but pales in comparison to even the touring cx9. Its more planted on road and more luxurious inside
Thats a nice SUV, over 310 lb ft of torque for a 4 banger even with a turbo charger is pretty impressive, merry xmas to you and Lori as well!
You are so very right! Merry Christmas!
Not all glory when it drives you toward the ditch.
"...the CX-9 AWD system doesn't send power to the rear wheels quickly enough, which can result in torque steer if you need to accelerate away from a stop quickly."
" In dry conditions, the system is designed to minimize the amount of torque it sends to the rear wheels, which means during full-throttle acceleration, the CX-9 and its 310 lb-ft of torque will chirp the front tires and then proceed to torque-steer, leaving the driver to wrestle with the steering wheel. Considering the AWD control module is monitoring both the accelerator position and steering angle, I feel like the moment the accelerator pedal is depressed fully, power should be moved to the rear to mitigate the effects of all of that torque on the front wheels." Motor Trend

Why is it so hard to find a comprehensive video that explains how to use the features in the vehicle? Most are sales videos or talk about how many cup holders or somebodies opinion on the styling aspects of the car.
I don't understand why car reviewers and journalists hype up the larger wheels. There's a big price jump when you're buying tires gor 16 inch wheels to 18 inch and then even more going up to 20 inch wheels.
Didn't realize at first but the control wheel works like a joystick too. Not only can you twist it or do a push straight down but you can tilt the wheel left, right, up and down. Discovered this when I was trying to clear out the radio station favorites.

Considering the AWD control module is monitoring both the accelerator position and steering angle, I feel like the moment the accelerator pedal is depressed fully, power should be moved to the rear to mitigate the effects of all of that torque on the front wheels." 🎁 this is for you 👍
I appreciate that! You are so awesome!
@@RaitisRides no problem 👍
If Mazda added a memory power t&t steering wheel and exit setting on the front seats, the CX-9 Signature would be a viable option to a Lexus RX-350. Leave the regular sunroof as pano versions rattle and lose the silly paddle shifters: this is a Mazda, not a Maserati. Oh, and change all the low-rent black cladding and bumpers to body color to sharpen the exterior. I drove this recently and have it on my short list when my disappointing NX is off lease.
Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas to you!
