It won't affect cerakote at all. That's why it is so widely used with putters. But powdercoat is different. I've heard SOME types of powder coat are solvent resistant but, not all of them. Not really educated much with them but that's what I do know.
I did my back dots on my scotty , my old ones fell out. It came out pretty good but I have a few really small bubbles in the paint. What is the trick to avoid that
Use a thin layer of isopropyl alcohol in the Dots first. If done properly should have nice even flowing paint that's glossy and bubble free. Takes some practice but for Cameron Dots it was a game changer.
No, Scotty never used Cerakote. I'm assuming all of their current black finish models are PVD or DLC finished which is a highly industrialized process.
@Rezik. Cerakote claims they're more durable than PVD or DLC but I'm not too sure about that. Also have to consider those specialized coatings are usually triple the price as an average cerakote job. The machines used to do them are upwards $100s of thousands of dollars so, not really a diy type thing.
I wanted the red to be darker and more subtle on this one. That's why I used the translucent Tamiya paint. Especially the top with the dots and the sightline. But yes, normally I would either use regular colors, or I would have covered the dots before cerakoting and kept them bright silver before Paintfilling.
Is the small and large wheel the same? I’m looking to change mine, doesn’t seem to do the job. I’m based in the uk and the link in description doesn’t work for my location. Could you recommend another wheel please?
Usually only takes a few minutes. I'll drop it in and come back in 10 minutes and its pretty loosened up. Sometimes it takes a little more depending on the age of the putter and what not but. I also give it a quick sandblast usually too afterwards to make sure all of the paint is off the putter head.
Yea trying to figure out how to rig mine up I have the adapters for the 1/2 inch but can’t figure out how to get something right up to it so it doesent move and is stable
@@BiggestHoss if you're talking about the Arbor size. They make reduced bushings. My bench grinder has a 5/8 arbor. So with my 1" arbor wheels, I purchased 1" to 5/8" reduced bushings.
@@igolf906 i have the adapters for my 1/2 inch but I’m trying to figure out a way to get it tight and stable do I need bushings more washers that have a bigger hole to fit over the adapters? Do you have any social media I could send you a picture at to show you what I’m talking about?
The Newports are just satin finished steel. No coating. But for the Pro Platinums they are nickel plated. I have the setup to nickel plate and strip but, most every Pro Platinum that I've been sent,I've done a cerakote finish on then. So as long as it's prepped properly, doesn't need to be completely stripped.
When the prep work is done properly, and as long as a headcover is used cerakote is very durable. With anything it will wear eventually especially on the sole. But I've seen people with Cerakoted putters use them for few years and still look new.
If youre talking the paintfill. I use Testors Enamel. Can't get it at nearly any hobby store. But for the Cerakote (Black) in this case, I get straight from Cerakote.com
Awesome transformation of awesome putters
Stunning work!! Well done
Thank you!
Absolute fire brother! Sick sick sick. That Pro Plat is awesome also!
Thanks man!
Excellent work. Beautiful results
Thank you!!
Amazing stuff! Quick question, when your cleaning up the paint fill over the cerakote, do you use acetone on the wipes/qtip or something less harsh?
Just acetone. It won't affect the cerakote.
I really like this finish, if I do another putter this will be the way to go...lol
Yes, I'm starting to get the feel for this cerakote and it goes on really nice!
When filling in the letters will acetone take off cerakote or powdercoat when cleaning off excess paint?

you are phenomenal. keep up the videos please
Thanks a lot! Hope to have another uploaded in the next week or so.
Nice work mate, did the larger wheel get right in the gap of the back? Just started doing this myself and unable to get in the gap with mine. 6”
No, almost all cavities are done by hand if they are dinged up.
Do you use any glue when attaching the face plate or just the screws?
I do use some double sided tape but, it's not really needed.

What do you use to get rid of the excess paint fill??
Acetone
@@igolf906 I used a small bit of acetone on my cerakote putter after baking it and it took the cerakote off too…..
@timsweeney6224 Something was wrong with your Cerakote process. That's never been an issue for me
Have u try to base coat the red colour with white? So it pops out more?

So you had to drill out the stripped screws? Does that mean you had to replace those screws? Where did you get replacements? Thx!

It's a 2 part paint with a hardener

3M Vhb tape
