    It’s just called jiu-jitsu.
    With that said, the jiu-jitsu that I refer to in this video, is from Brazil.

    For what it’s worth, I hardly ever interact (comment, like, etc.) with social media or RUclips. However, this video was probably one of my favorites of yours if not my favorite. This video did a great job of demonstrating the good parts of life there whilst also talking about the unfortunate things that occur there.       I feel like it comes down to the fact that in other parts of the world where people don’t have much, they’re a lot more authentic, and not afraid of judgement. So many people let their ego and prejudices get in the way of opening up to people. I love this video because it’s almost like when you’re children and you literally would meet someone and within a day you’d be great friends, you know? But as we grow up we let our busy everyday lives and our egos get in the way of our human ability to create strong connections with people off of the back of inaugural experiences with people; we’ve become colder. In places of the world like this they are a lot more human, I can’t wait to visit Brazil one day, such a remarkable place with such amazing people…

      It's easier than you think. The best way to get someone to open up is to be vulnerable yourself, in fact this is the shortcut on how to become close friends with someone quickly (in my experience). But yes, this depends on who you're talking to as loads of people have their guards up

      difficult? i think thats a myth i live here in southern california it is very difficult you have to work all day to have roomates and bad quality food. the air here is terrible and the amenities are pretty limited most people dont want to socialize

      @@yamagawa7174 yes, in Portuguese is agora, but thats not a problem, Portuguese is a very hard language to learn and going to Brasil was something new for him, as you can see in his other videos he spent most of the time in countries where the official language is Spanish so I think thats why he mix Portuguese with Spanish

    You won't believe it! A dissagreement started in a club in Denver Colorado. My brother was being attacked by 2 thugs. I joined in to help him. Someone grabed me around the neck. What I had seen on this episode in the gym showed me how to get out of the hold and reverse the situation. Thanks to Igor and the older gentleman and to you for bringing the
    meathod to me. I have started to study Jui-Jitso. All the best!

    So cool! I went to Rio in 2010 and went to check out a BJJ gym near Ipanema, I just wanted to go and watch, next thing they're getting me to join in training. I ended up staying in Rio for a year, amazing people, doing capoeira in the favelas too. This brings back good memories. Valeu Kurt!

    Probably my favourite video so far even tho every vid is a 10/10. Your eyes were just shining throughout the video and I could feel how much you like Rio. It also appears honestly to be the most beautiful city I've seen so far especially with all the real insides you gave to us. I enjoyed every single moment of it and couldn’t even break for a second because it was that interesting. Honestly thank you Kurt for your great work. Also shoutout to Igor, one of the most humble, intelligent, friendly and wise human I got introduced to. He is a big enrichment for all of Brasil as much as you are for RUclips and the world.

    Charles Do bronx, UFC champion, also grew up in the São Paulo favela and became the organization's top finisher and UFC bonus record holder. Charles do Bronx takes with him the motto that "the favela won". May Igor grow in the sport. Jiu-jitsu saves.

      Charles Oliveira and Igor started out in jiu-jitsu under similar conditions, but made different choices. Early on, Charles went to MMA and Igor stayed true to his martial arts roots.

    This is one of my favorite videos on all of RUclips. There was something magical about the way you two enjoyed that wonderful day hiking to the waterfall, travel through his neighborhood and a tour of his home and dogs. It gave us a special glimpse of Igor’s life. He is magnificent, a rare treasure and so are you. Thank you for sharing his story and bringing us along for a ride. I can’t wait to visit Brazil 🇧🇷!

    Thanks Kurt, brings back memories for me. In 1987 and 1988 when I was 25 and 26 years old I spent about 4 months in Brazil. I was in Rio and other states as well. Thanks for the memories!

    Kurt, I found you about 3 or 4 days ago and I've been going through and watching your Playlists. My wife and I watch you all day sometimes.
    I love seeing the real areas, and the people are usually so nice.
    I must say, you've really had me interested in going to Pakistan (in the meantime, I want to try some real Pakistani food).

    one year later, and kurt's video really inspired me to start BJJ. Igor's story is extremely heartwarming. I hope he got his black belt and is achieving his dream of helping his brothers and sisters of brazil learn the art of jiu jitsu! One of Kurt's best videos without a doubt

      Good on you brother! How is it going? I’ve been training for about 12 years now and I’m nowhere near Igor’s level of course but it’s the thing I enjoy most in the world. Cars are a close second😂it keeps me level headed and taught me an infinite number of things over the years. Hope you are enjoying it to this level.

    Wish you could show us the sunrise view from Igor's house, would have been amazing. I really like the way you are making your videos everything feels like you are actually there experiencing daily life in Rio. Igor is a great guy, he really motivates me to start doing something, not even Jiu Jitsu but in general. Living in Favela is hard but even so he keeps on going, truely inspiring WOW

    Loved this video so much Kurt!.
    His story is so inspiring especially how he refused to let bad situations beat him down but also how he wants to give back & save more youth in the favelas.
    Hope he brings Gold for Brazil at the Olympics & inspires even more.
    So awesome to see a descendant of a Gracie doing what they do best.
