  • Protec is a Bavarian based company and uses slide outs to create a huge amount of space within its motorhomes. Here we can see two models, costing just under EUR200k which are much bigger on the campsite than they are on the road!
I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
In my RUclips channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Bocklet, Woelcke,Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Murvi, Bliss, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow, Holzmobil, Giotti Line, Florium, Fleurette, Ahorn, Westfalia, Space Camper, Orange Work, Concorde, Womondo, Protec and others.
I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

I like those, they're very luxurious looking, and the extra space makes so much difference.

I would like a closeup of the seal or gasket type device the slides use if any. The last one show the layout was real nice . slide outs here in the states can be good and bad but the gap on some US RVs don't seem too well designed.

Slide-outs are cool in that you do get more space, but you usually have a vehicle that's borderline unlivable with the sliders in, and they do compromise the shell and can leak and become an issue as well. So I'm not a huge fan in spite of the combo of an agile vehicle with a larger space in the back.

European slide outs are made better than the north American versions unless you go high end . Hydraulic or pneumatic systems are used in Europe and have a higher reliability . I get what you mean by the slide outs making the van less than when you might just want to crash in a place where the slide outs cannot be used.

@@ploppyploppy6554 I also think that the European ones are better, although the largest manufacturer is an American company. I have yet to hear of problems with water ingress in Europe, but as a statistic that is not very reliable given the few people in Europe who have experience with them.

@@ploppyploppy6554 Moving parts are always less reliable than a welded shut wall, so even if you get better quality slideouts you still have moving walls and more than can go wrong.

All that extra space certainly is great, but - honestly, if I were willing to own something that big, I'd spend half that money and go pick up a Celtic Rambler fifth wheel from the UK, most likely. Although, building that on the great Iveco 4x4 basis would make it pretty go-anywhere. Oh well, it's academic, I couldn't scrape together 200 grand either way.

My kind of motor home except for the price. But an iveco will cost you 70k so 130 for the body. Still a little steep but definitely something I'd investigate if ever I won the lottery.

The second car interior layout definitely my choice. But just the price... 200k Euro? 🤔🤔🤔

Allen H. We watch you and wife a lot, but If you show the refrigerator at all time and give the length will be nice. Protect Mobile is almost better than US Motor home, but your restroom are cheep looking. Your slide out look better than our 😊
