I had to come back to this video to tell you I got my ruler spray today. WHAT A GAME CHANGER! I only sprayed my ruler once, it was enough. Dry in 1 minute. Hard to explain this product but it is not sticky or tacky but it puts down a layer of "something" that super holds the fabric. I absolutely LOVE it. I ordered it immediately from your link. Took awhile to get here but worth the wait. Anyone that wants their rulers to hold in place, this is the product. Thank you Laura for introducing it. Otherwise I would not have known!
Thank You 🙏 I’ve been wanting to try this for a while on my domestic sewing machine. After watching your wonderful demonstration there’s no doubt I can do this too.
Thank you for a very informative video. You explained the process clearly. I was unaware that it’s necessary to have a different style of quilting foot. Gives me the confidence to try this method!
I love that quilt block! For something soooooo simple it packs a punch. I love ruler work. Once you get a pattern going it becomes so much fun. Wonderful video and so beautifully explained.... as always!😊
You make this look so much more accessible than some big name quilters! I just went and got a foot for my machine after watching your video. Fortunately it comes with a template and grip tape. All the other experts makes it look too easy and like I have to invest a lot of time in becoming proficient like I did with free motion. Since I can free motion OK, I think I can do this. I don't think I've ever seen the grip or spray mentioned before. I can't wait to try this out! Thank you for sharing!
As always Laura, you instructions were clear and oh so helpful. I have some small rulers and you have given me the inspiration to try them out. Thank you so much.
SUSAN HAYNES I WATCH YOUR VIDEOS A LOT AND I JUST LOVE THAT PATTERN I WILL TRY IT , BEING NEW TO RULER QUILTING, I THINK THAT THIS WILL BE A GREAT PATTERN TO START WITH I LOVE STREIGHT LINE QUILTING.
That quilt is really sharp, and I love the straight line quilting, good demo, thanks again for sharing. I can’t seem to find the ruler spray, so will have to look harder I guess.
Have been curious about ruler work! I’m hesitant due to the investment and whether it’s something I’ll enjoy doing. Your vid was extremely helpful! Thanx a bunch 😉😉
Thank you so much for the tutorial. It has inspired me to get my rulers out and free motion quilt. I love the backing material you used on your quilt. What fabric collection is it?
What kind of machine and table is that that you are using? I love that it's big enough to get what you need done, yet doesn't take up an entire room space
Super demo. Love your videos! I didn't know you could get pre-wound bobbins of Glide thread. Where do you order from? Hadn't seen that spray for rulers either, so usually use the True Grip stick ons. Thanks for the info 😁🍁
SewVeryEasy oh thanks - my store doesn't (& there's only one quilt store in town. They do sell pre-wound bobbins but not in Glide. I'll have to ask them tho if they can get it. Thanks!!
I have been trying to do this with my sewing machine as I was bought some of the rulers and foot for Christmas and I'm really struggling with it. I can't find any of the things you suggest for the ruler in the UK.
@@Iamgone1961 I'm struggling to use the rulers and I feel like I'm fighting my sewing machine. Unfortunately I live in Derbyshire, but THANK YOU for replying. Happy sewing. Xxx
@@samcraftstoo7616 hi again... Do you use a supreme slider? The Gemini free motion slider sheet is a cheaper option, I got mine on ebay. Is your foot down too low? I put my quilt under the foot when its in the down position at set the ruker foot then making sure the quilt can slide easily underneath. Do you gave the silicone spots on your rulers to stop them slipping? These are the issues I've had, if thesestill don't help contact me again n I will see if I can assist! Regards, Natasha
I’m a total beginner to quilting. I just started 3 months ago. I have only done the quilting itself on one small quilt. Should I be proficient in things like stitch in the ditch and regular straight line quilting before starting with rulers.Or can I go straight to using rulers for quilting? The rulers make quilting looks so much easier than without them.
I am waiting for the arrival of my Bernina Q20 sit down. The sales lady went around the store and put things in my shopping cart...many I do not know how to use. She sold me a #96 ruler foot. Will the #96 work in the same manner as you used the #72 in the video? I would like to know before I open up #96.
Did you stitch around the entire perimeter of the quilt before you began? I hate to admit it ,but my husband gave me a Sweet Sixteen for Christmas and I have been afraid to use it.
It is quite normal to be afraid to use a new (sewing or any other) machine - look up the videos from this channel from when Laura got her Q20 she explained how to get to know the machine well - just like always 👍💝 Best of luck with your new machine - I’m quite envious 😉🤓🤩
SewVeryEasy thanks I wish I had the space to have a machine for the free motion work the quilt I’m on at the moment I’m going to hand quilt it what thread would you recommend for that thanks again
SewVeryEasy in my area we don’t really have many quilting stores we have a few stores selling fabric and ones that do quilting we have to travel a couple of hrs to get there so mostly over the internet but I don’t buy fabric over the internet just incase the colours are totally different thanks for your help

So pretty! Very helpful.... I have had a set of rulers at my sewing table for almost a year and am intimidated by them lol
You can do it!
I’m the same just can’t seem to get to grips with it Help
As always Laura, you instructions were clear and oh so helpful. I have some small rulers and you have given me the inspiration to try them out. Thank you so much.

So lovely Laura. You make it seem so easy
Love this video. I have not “ruler quilted” as yet .. guess I should try. You did a great job !
The back of the quilt is just delightful.
Great demonstration of beginners rule work....good motivation to get started
Also, love the quilt pattern too....so creative
Great info. on the quilting feet and the sticky product for the ruler!
This is something I would never be able to do, but I love watching you do it! 👍

Thank you for the great idea, for ruler quilting.

You can go right to the rulers :)

Do you have a video where you made this quilt?

yes it is made for ruler work but it does not have the little brass adjustment.
Awesome
Can you do a video on making the table topper?
There is a link in the description box about the video that this quilt came from
Rulers come in different thickness. How thic is the one you used?
it is 1/4"
What is your favourite batting?
For this project I used Hobbs Fusible batting. I do not have a favorite, I use different batting for different quilts :)
I love the quit pattern! What is it?

yes, as soon as I finish the quilt top I do stitch around it. That way it keeps the stitching from coming undone

SewVeryEasy thanks I wish I had the space to have a machine for the free motion work the quilt I’m on at the moment I’m going to hand quilt it what thread would you recommend for that thanks again
I really do not have a favorite. But if you go to your quilting store they will be able to recommend something. They will carry good thread
