I love the smile and excitement about receiving the boots. Reminds me when my daughter was 3 and snuck upstairs and found her mothers fancy dress shoes. she came downstairs to the middle of a party and did her show and tell. A very similar foot move that Cody showed us with his boots. True joy. Nothing like quality.

13 years ago, I started work at a Lowe's distribution center. Mandatory steel toes. I had a cheap pair of Brahma's from Wal-Mart. I wore them for the first 2 weeks, and limped out everyday. On advice from my dad, "if you are going to be working on your feet, get the best boot you can afford". When I got my first paycheck, I went to a shoe store that specializes in work boots, tried on many a boot, and walked out with a pair of Wolverine's (I think). I didn't look at brand, didn't look at price. Wore them for the weekend, wore them to work, and I was in heaven! Best money I had spent up to that point. They were so comfortable I wore them outside of work all the time! I think I cried when they bit the dust.
When I worked with horses I used to wear Wolverine DuraShoks Kiltie Lacers with steel toes, the version with the smoother, non-lugged sole. (Lugged soles can hangup in stirrups easier than smooth soles.) They had that nice western look to them, which was important, and they were extremely comfortable. They also provided relief from ornery horses that like to step on toes! Later I got a very similar set from Justin that was Gore-tex & Thinsulate lined for winter wear. Even though I no longer work with horses I've been wearing Wolverine & Justin boots ever since!

I live in Minnesota, and have enjoyed hand made shoes from a number of sources, including Red Wings, for many years.
After seeing the boots that you ordered from Adam, I decided to travel to Winona to meet him and his family. Before I did that, I contacted a friend of mine who is retired from the boot making business to inquire if he knew of Adam or not.
It turns out that my friend has worked with Adam in the past, knows him and his work very well, recommends him highly.
After meeting with him on Friday, 03.14.14, I can verify that this man's talent exceeds anything I have ever seen! I placed an order with him for my first pair, can't wait to get them.
What Adam doesn't quite understand yet is that I plan on replacing every pair of shoes in my closet with a pair crafted by him.
Ooooops - with one exception - my Chuck Taylors :-)

That is awesome he did that for your toe issue, I have the exact same issue, I have a very wide foot around the toes but a very narrow heel so hard to fit.

May have to try these. I have custom Cowboy boots that have that same "pop" when I put them on. They are the most comfy boots I have owned. I recently bought Red Wing and am not very happy. Too bad! I wore them in the '7's and they were awesome! Thanks for the information!

Great looking boots Cody, real craftsmanship. I have to say, if there is one thing I would change about my Whites, its that I wish I would have ordered them with a leather liner. I imagine that will make it real comfy. Definitely give us some updates after a few months!

Those look very comfortable for being right out of the box, looks supple and soft.
I spent years working in western wear stores where I dealt with & fitted hand-made boots from makers like Justin, Dan Post, Tony Lama & Luchese on a daily basis. My feet are a size 13A with a AA heel, not a size you're going to find just sitting on a shelf somewhere! I usually just got a 12D off the rack, dropped some padded insoles in them to take out some of the slop and called it good, but during the time I worked in those stores I did manage to acquire a couple pair of boots that were special ordered to fit my unusually sized feet. The difference between a custom ordered pair of boots and an off the rack pair of boots is significant!
We didn't deal with high-end work boots, but I've sold more than one pair of $600 hand-made full quill ostrich Lucheses. Once you learn the signs of a quality, hand-made boot you can recognize them easily regardless of the boot's style, and those, sir, are quality boots!
Fantastic looking pair of boots. Love that it doesn't have a Gore-Tex liner like the Danners I have.

Boot envy! I had a good pair of hand-made New Zealand boots once, I could walk around all day in them with no socks, screwed on soles too. Had the soles replaced three times before the uppers wore out.
The pinky toe lump is called a "bunionette". You get them from having wide feet and wearing shoes that are too narrow. When I was a kid, my parents had to take my shoes to a cobbler to cut out a hole and sew in a patch.
Finally companies started making shoes in widths [sound of angels singing]. Redwing always made shoes in wide but thank goodness it caught on in other brands :-)

The 2" heel on boots was first introduced by Genghis Khan, it was a tool used for riding horses, keeping your feet locked in the stirrups for better control of your horse. it has been the standard in husbandry for the past 800 years and, now motorcycle boots. Some situations you never know when your going to have to ride a horse or a Motorcycle.

I'm the same way about new work/farm boots. I wear them to church for a few weeks before I get them dirty. I just got a pair of black Carolina lineman boots that i cannot bring myself to get them dirty.

I really like the screws. I've had trouble with the soles of my Carolina loggers falling apart. I had to have them repaired twice already.

I wish I could afford to have a pair of boots like these. I just took my leather boots into a shop to have the heel replaced today. Im somewhat attached when it comes to that pair of boots considering they were gifted to me
