That sounds like a crank position sensor. They will work fine until you shut it off. And won't work again until they are fully cooled off. And it won't throw a code either. Give that a look when you have the time.
Hey bud. 528K miles on an original DPF and with lots of idle time; the chances are that it may need to be replaced. If you look around the internet I believe that there is a company that will take your plugged DPF and cut it open and clean it then weld it back together. I watched a video on YT of how they do it. Either way, I feel that if you got over a half a million miles on a stock DPF , that's a win. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.
hey C Farmer thanks for the tailgate trick ,,,I know that this is an old video but I believe that the issues you are having with your truck is due to BAD D.E.F FLUID ,,,,,the next time that you have to refill the D.E.F tank only use D.E.F fluid from Walmart never ever ever use D.E.F fluid from any truck stop .I have been using the D.E.F fluid $15.00 per jug 2.5gallons from Walmart with no issues ,,,hope this help and good luck.
Dang i do like driving in the evening into the night time, but lights are killing me in the older age and i really like stopping early to make sure i get a space to park so i leave early morning and try to stop around 6pm. EDIT: If i had one of those ranch hand bumpers it would make me feel better driving during dark hours dealing with deer and stuff.

I don’t have the bullet point for the Chevy but I have it in my dodge and it only screws in with the factory screws on top of the dash and it’s very very sturdy holds my phone and iPad very well I highly recommend it

I had a freightliner company truck that was doing something similar back in 2018. It was the DPF one box that needed replacing.
I love me some lucas dpf cleaner.
Used a tire plug on a rad hose years ago. It was on a combine, held the 5 hours I need it to hold. But best to have a piece of metal pipe. That you can use to splice the hose.

My Duramax was doing something similar. When the truck won’t start stop cranking and go out and pump the filter primer. If you have no resistance pump it till you do. Truck should start up. What happen is the lipped seal on primer pump wiil allow the system to cavitate but not leak under pressure. Good luck. Kit cost around 12 dollars at napa

Mr Farmer so polite. FYI the L5P in this video does not have a manual primer, has a lift pump...
once i soldered mine and replaced the butt connectors on the driver side fuel rail sensor, my derated went away. they dont like the butt connectors supplied with the connector repairs.

Keep the videos coming it be kind sweet to see some different angles while your towing also try EDT hotshots fuel treatment I used that in my 16 F-250 6.7 and I gain fuel mileage from it and the truck physically ran better also have you thought about deleting your truck fully you would increase your fuel mileage the truck would run cleaner and you most likely get more miles off this engine
Honestly I'm with you and camp on dpf, also makes sense on your mpg as well.. Ill be watching to see if that ends up being the issue.
Something else to try with that PCM plug is spray some penetrating oil/wd40 around the rubber seal on the inside of the connector. I’ve had them latch before then all sorts of mystery codes pop up, lubed the connector to where it glides in better, cleared codes then no longer had an issue. Something free and quick to try anyways.
Have you thought about possibly the factory lift pump in the tank maybe going out? Maybe it's not supplying enough psi to injection pump on engine to command startup?
I have. I actually almost bought one but i would think it would show symptoms when under a load and low fuel psi code but it's all perfect.... until it doesn't start. If i press on the ecm connectors it fires right up. Going to take plug apart when i get home and look closer at it
Ya that's true, you are onto something with the ECM plug. I commented before I finished the video the first time haha, but I think you are the right track with it being electronic. Thanks for the videos I've been a subscriber and have watched them all. I currently own a '18 Duramax myself and you have been super helpful. I just got to replace my own #4 pigtail not to long ago and thanks to having watched your previous videos I knew exactly what I needed to do when my codes popped up. Now I keep fuel line disconnect tools and extra pigtail and a scanner in the truck also. Safe travels my friend!
Great video, I think the issue you're having with your DPF is it's got ash build up. When you do a regen, it'll burn the soot but ash is the byproduct of burning the soot, usually on the big rigs, about every 200 hours we pull them out to have them serviced and cleaned. I have a 2017 duramax and I cleaned mine out at 300000 miles. Having the same issue that you're having with region failures, If you talk to the dealer they're gonna tell you to replace it. I cut mine out. I believe the intake is 3 1/2 and outlet is 4 and a I did a DIY cleaning. And works fine now. You might also want to check your DPF differential pressure sensor intake tube. If you take a compressor blow it out, make sure there's no ash clogging that too, which will cause the same issues. And make sure your map center is clear if you have a space around there you shouldn't have any issues. I was a diesel mechanic for twenty six years before I started driving for horizon, I believe we have a mutual friend in Tony wharf. He's got my number. Change your fuel filter, my f350 gets hard to start if the filter starts to get clogged.

C Farmer May ask a question. When you are done with a load, do you still have to run an ELD/LOG on the way back,or can you run off duty back to your home terminal, for example?
Try mounting your DEZL OTR in the lower left of your windshield by the A pillar. I thought I'd hate mine there, but I was wrong. It seems close enough, yet is out of the way. The only drawback (if you're right handed) is you will be using your left hand most of the time when operating it. But you get used to it quick. Edit: Just saw you have something else already mounted there !

That's a tough question. I've only had the chevrolet but there's good and bad in them all. Before i bought mine i drove all 3 and this one just fit me better. I know guys with Ford and dodge that have had pretty good luck out of them. I'm not a fan of the newer trucks of any brand. If i had to buy another truck today I'd buy the exact same one that i have or a low mileage older truck. I like the reflections and for a bumper pull i pulled a sport trek last year out to California and i was really impressed with how it pulled and handled the wind. Pinnacle 5th wheels pull pretty good too. Thank you for the comment!
