My father worked in Seattle for one of the countless sub-contractors on the 787 project in the early 2000's, and he would tell me how Boeing was outsourcing everything and purging their own engineers. Any talk about fixing this broken system should have happened 20 years ago. Its too little too late.

Hate to agree with Hawley on anything but I have to agree here. This guy is not only CEO of Boeing but also of Caterpillar and taking in millions annually and bonuses on top of that. Yet, the workers who do their best with little training (Calhoun's decisions) make less than $40 dollars an hour most of them.... that's a scary thought next time you fly!
In early 2000 the Boeing leader of Comercial Air Division Alan Mullaly was passed over for CEO, a Jack Welch believer picked instead.
Mulally went to be the CEO of Ford and totally turned it around. In the financial crisis of 2008 Ford sailed above the other domestic companies. People should look at how Alan Mulally managed Ford not how Jack Welch destroyed every company he touched.
