Deleting Facebook was the best mentally wellbeing decision i could do. I don't even need to go into description about this topic. I've actually noticed how much everyone is on their phone. Crazy man! 😢😅
I’ve never used it. If it’s causing you anxiety or mental health problems it’s up to you to fix that problem. Don’t blame the platform…I blame the users!
I did so as well. There is bullying, lies, grifters, misuse of photos, nudity, sales fraud and FB does absolutely nothing. God forbid that pompous slug would part with a nickel. I know an 80 y.o. woman that was scammed out of money for a puppy....but wait! FB doesn't allow sales of animals. She reported it to protect other and got no response. FB is the modern day snake oil guy
its a win/win for hawley. if he didnt apologize, he would have proven that he truely does not care about his users or their safety. if he did, thats a form of admission. zuckerberg lost either way, he made that choice on the fly knowing an apology might make him look atleast a tad human still.
The real problem is the 'misuse' of social media, faceless bullying, children spending too much time in front of a screen, thinking that having mindless 'likes' is a boost to their self esteem. RUclips & twitter remove conservative comments but leave porn alone. Put the blame on the bullys, sort them out and make them accountable.
Ironically the people grilling him probably have greater power to affect the cause of the problem than the person being grilled. Mark Zuckerberg can't make sure people aren't posting dark web links on his website, at least not easily. The people who ARE supposed to be policing that kind of thing are US federal intelligence and law enforcement agencies, you know, the guys we gave way too much power to in the name of keeping us safe from terrorists and political extremists, only to find out a bunch of them were the ones assisting terrorists and political extremists in order to push political agendas, some of which are scientifically, politically, and socially bad ideas in the first place. You know, the guys who are supposed to be accountable to legislators (senators and members of congress), and probably aren't even accountable to them anymore.
@patricklee5578 like these people are not and no matter what you think about social media these people aren't to blame the bullies are to blame and the parents that held up their kids pictures are to blame these people simply offer a product and these kids parents allow their kids to partake in this product more than they should. And again we need to be honest with ourselves this is not about protecting children because that is always the decree of despots and dictators this is solely about controlling the narrative and controlling how people get the narrative and Congress both left and right know that in order to control the narrative to control what people hear we must control social media
You only have to sit in a restaurant, bar, cafe, or even when you’re walking down the street. The amount of adults, children and almost babies who can’t do anything without their phone in their hand, is absolutely mind bending. Parents need to start parenting and stop passing a child a burner! Simply to keep them quiet.
No. It's literally not your responsibility that you take the blame for having your kids tricked through platforms that were supposed to be safe for them by the owners of the platforms. There's nudity even in RUclips kids. If the apps that were specifically meant for kids aren't kids friendly than who's fault is that?
Get your children a flip phone for emergency’s, while you educate yourself on media comparison, algorithms and the affects it has on young people’s mental health. It does affect young people well beyond the ages of 13-15. I truly hope you don’t believe you can hand your children a smartphone and somehow block their access to social media.
Your thought process is what makes 30 year old children. As well as make them as adults look to an authority figure to tell them how to live. Not to mention, social isolation is just a damaging to children. Be careful in thinking you solve a problem. You actually make it worse.

Actually that is incorrect although Social Media is roughly 95% a negative influence. The cause of the disintegration of The Empire, which we are all witnessing consciously or not, is “overextension”. 100%! The question is what steps have the government take to these companies, There are countries, institutions and individuals that they give sanctions or trade penalties to control situations. Why is it different to these companies that the government only just potray as doing something about it when they are enjoying large revenue in tax through these companies? How hypocrytic can they get. "Just put a sign that says Parental Giudance, SNLV, R18 or PGA will be fine, its up to the parents now". Individuals are "blackballed" for being said are associated/supporting some individuals or institutions that have been declared anti-"something". Why cant the government put controls to these companies instead of parading some scripted public grilling? Lets not be fooled people! My take is they just want Tiktok out coz they dont have control of negetive economical/political content over it, FB, Insta, e.t.c they can control, but they were brought here so it doesnt look like they are after tiktok.
Not really. If your daughter or son is the only one in classroom that doesn’t have “the trendy thing” (whichever it is at the moment), you’re willingly painting a target on her or him. Free choice is not something bullies care about at all.
This is a parenting issue not an online safety issue. How long before you people come after music with explicit lyrics like it's the 80s citing "it's for the children, it's for the greater good" as your reason? All that accomplishes is give companies an insensitive to spy on EVERYONE just in case your actions could get them held liable.

It would be pretty harsh to send parents to jail after their failures as a parent. Make better policy to allow these companies to make better policy on their end. Also are people just conveniently political? Don't forget we have a Google Sign in for Both FB and truly sensitive information websites. Look at Google, not FB. Look at yourselves, not FB. Every time I watch these CEOs in front of the senate, they aren't given a chance to speak. The senators are just testifying and driving the narrator completely unopposed. I'm not taking sides with the content of the "discussion", but this is not how it should be conducted at all. What a joke, all for show
Congress is the most powerful entity of them all constitutionally speaking. They are a direct reflection of the constituents. They’re as though a crowd of everyday Americans held those seats in the house and senate. Congress legislated the very rules that made a Facebook possible. They also hold the keys to make Facebook liable and lose its immunity. Families were ultimately frustrated with Facebook and informed their representatives why. End result? Congress is going to at the very least, haul Facebook in for a public chewing out. Their power of inquiry and oversight is near absolute.
@@Mark-kq6ch in fairness, the meeting is adversarial in nature with or without grandiose displays from the senators. They’d like to legislate guardrails around these companies. The companies (with powerful lobbyists and lawyers) don’t want that. Unfortunately the tech companies have spent enough to ensure such legislation will almost never arrive. So all you have left are subpoenas and shouting contests.
If thats your mentality then you’re part of the problem. you obviously don’t understand how powerful these companies are and how much influence they have. you act like parents can be with their children’s at all times. The companies are absolutely the problem. Parents share some blame but it mostly comes down to the lack of action these companies are taking on this matter .
@@eddiealmaraz292 He is a part of the problem that you people are making up? These tech companies are not responsible for the stupid stuff people do or put on social media - plain and simple. There is only so much responsibility you can put on someone for having their platform ''abused''. Parents can't be with children all the time, but they can still teach them how to internalize the things they see; how they take in and/or approach social media. With that in mind, Parents only sharing 'some of the blame' is ridiculous considering it's literally their one job as parents to guide their children. Do you know who is not responsible for your kids? Other people, let alone a tech company.
@@eddiealmaraz292 no its 100 percent the parents responsibility, its very clear social media makes it all too easy for kids to see harmful material and to be exposed easily to people out there that may want to harm them. Thats the way of the world today, before social media the world was different, the dangers were all outside your home and what did parents do, they didnt let them out alone at night unsupervised at a young age. Today the danger has expanded and parents are still in full control of their children or should be!. Facebook and tiktok wont ever go away and its practically impossible to monitor millions if not billions of accounts, conversations, posts etc and thats why they use AI to monitor it, there simply isn't enough time or man power to manually catch every offense committed online. Guess what, there is so much smut posted online even the AI cant catch it all. With that in mind, all these parents holding up pictures of kids who may not be here any more for reasons that may be related to social media, where were those parents, every time you as a parent are away from your child who is on social media is a time they are exposed and you allow that to happen. I have a 13 year old, 10 year old and 6 year old, neither one of them are aware facebook exists, i didn't create an account for them which i bet many of these parents holding up pictures did for their children... my 13 year old has his own pc and mobile phone and they are used to speak to those they know, school friends and family, play games and use tools like google for education. My kids dont miss what they were never exposed to to begin with. I struggle to understand why anybody else is to blame besides the parents to be brutally honest, your children are only exposed to what you allow them to be exposed to and its not cruel to keep them away from online dangers until they are old enough to understand how to avoid those dangers on their own. Some of ya'll got your kids dressed up like barbie dolls at the age of 8 and create profiles on facebook for them and then blame facebook for enabling disgusting animals to use their profiles for what they wish. Its time to get real. ''Oh but you cant watch over your kids 100 percent of the time'' WRONG, you as a parent have complete control of what your children have access to and when they have access to it, ofcourse as they get older that becomes more difficult to control but one would think at 16 plus they have the mindset to know the dangers of being online and how to avoid or skip past the harm but we got kids on there at 10 years old or less, parents that even create the profiles for them and then simply cant be bothered to monitor what they do on it, you do not need to be watching over them every minute of the day, but how many parents check at the end of the day who they have been talking to, what they have posted, are the pictures posted appropriate? parents are too lazy to do that is the problem. Parents are allowing their children to become addicted to social media because they themselves are addicted to social media.
As an American, I'm truly embarrassed by what is happening here. We now have both sides telling us that Government regulation is necessary because we are either too stupid or too weak to weather the impacts of social media. Last time I checked, it is the responsibility of parents to monitor their children and to place appropriate boundaries on their use of social media.

So instead of taking toxic material off social media, you instead want parents to hover over their children 24/7. Not possible, and if it was it would severely strain the relationship between parent and child since the parents will be showing absolutely no trust in their child’s independence. The mental damage that would do to a child is almost as bad as the garbage on social media. I get the impression that you value child porn since you are trying to stop it from being taken down. Actually that is incorrect although Social Media is roughly 95% a negative influence. Parents can't be with children all the time, but they can still teach them how to internalize the things they see; how they take in and/or approach social media.
It’s both. He’s well aware of what he’s doing to shape society.

Why do the parents and kids take no responsibility
So instead of taking toxic material off social media, you instead want parents to hover over their children 24/7. Not possible, and if it was it would severely strain the relationship between parent and child since the parents will be showing absolutely no trust in their child’s independence. The mental damage that would do to a child is almost as bad as the garbage on social media. I get the impression that you value child porn since you are trying to stop it from being taken down. You’d rather go after parents instead to protect your precious kiddy porn. That is sick beyond comprehension.
