Imagine how many innocent people have been murdered by the state in the two hundred years before forensic science existed. Even today, innocent folks are convicted.     He had a trial, was found guilty, and received an appropriate sentence. In this case, 114 years without parole seems most reasonable. This woman should not be confirmed.

    If she was defending him during the initial trial, that is one thing. Choosing to go back and help reduce his sentence is disgusting. It is not her duty to help him get his sentence reduced!! Life behind bars is not enough, but it is all we got at this point.

    Everyone is entitled to fair representation; however when the facts are this horrendous, the sentence should fit the crime. 15 yrs or not; a life sentence should be commensurate w/this, sending a clear message that this type of crime is not tolerated for any age. That poor woman will never be the same, and the perpetrator will.

Some people are so far removed from the actual reality, it’s frightening.       If everyone refuses then justice can't be done. A trial can't be had. If a defendant cannot get a fair trial with competent legal representation that argues vehemently on his behalf, then he must be let go. What happens if you're accused of a crime and all lawyers refuse to represent you because your politics will hurt their brand? Everyone deserves to be represented. Even as heinous as the crimes he committed were, and believe me I would volunteer to put him on the wall and handle it myself had that verdict came down, but he still deserves a fair trial

    As a woman who was human trafficed when i was a pre med student and sexually assaulted hundreds of times and never got justice. I find this video disturbing and beyond reprehensible. Im grateful we have people like senstor Hawley advocating for justice and womens rights. Because of my experience i never made it to becomimg a doctor because of the mental trauma i went through. I can never get my life back. Its true what mr. Hawley said.

    I get that even the worst dirtbag deserves a vigorous defense; but I contrast this with what people thought about the judge who was lenient on the 17 year old who violently raped a drunk girl.
