The rail thing on the back of the Leman Russ is called a "tail" and it's purpose is to help the tank cross a trench. WW1 tanks like the Renault FT17 and the Mark IV have them as well.
Says something about the scale of trench works in the war is a tank the size of a Russ or Malcedor needs trench rails.
I’m pretty sure the Mk. IV never had one.

I've only heard them called "Trench Rails." I'm curious to where tails comes from, it'd still make sense.
@@klayfieI'm fine with calling any sort of appendage to the rear of a tank a 'tail', be it trench rails, the odd steering assist the Mk.1 had, or even the tank from a Churchill Crocodile (although that's clearly a trailer so... eh).
I like seeing that you both have one hand at each side of the box in the beginning. It allowed me to imagine that you fused together into some sort bilateral being, Half-Snipe, Half-Wib...

My wife loves the element games sweets, she knows where they come from (she also war games but is a bit anti-clutter). It’s a great way to inform her that I have made further Warhammer purchases, hand her the sweets and leave the room before she joins the dots.

The inch whip and the templates really are the ones I grew up with back when 3rd edition was released? xD That is hilarious, but you can't improve on perfection!
Bright red plastic whippy sticks always make me feel nostalgic.
Every month I get something from Element there's a new sticker, and you either get branded sweets or a branded pen. I do appreciate it.
Believe it or not you're the first unboxing I've seen of this stuff and the first time I've actually looked at any of it.
How did you not spot the date on the pointy sticks as well? Felt very authentic. So happy you managed to get a box, been a challenge getting it

The Age of Darkness box also came with whippy sticks. And the full scale Heresy assault squads are *still* not out until tomorrow, for the record.

16:17 I'll admit I'm seeing more like if they were painted with heinz cream of tomato soup than ketchup, but yeah i do like the more rouge trader esque painjobs, which unless im mistaken, are sort of canon (for example if you look at ultramarines in 30k vs 40k they seem to have a different shade of blue which i've taken to interpret as being one of those things representing the passage of time, like how in the gc era, the imperium feels more renaissance compared to 40k's gothic)

Man, y'all seem so excited and happy to have it. It's a nice change from all the negativity around the release. I too am excited and have been enjoying the models and game.
PROTIP: get a cheap flat bedsheet to put on the floor under the chair/table you build your models on to prevent losing pieces that go flying when clipped from the sprue.

Ive made a deliberate point of ignoring this game until this week lol...... I want is a lot. But just cant justify it until some of the shame is cleared of the desk. This is the first unbox vid ive seen. And once seen it cant be unseen........SOLD!!

the older i get the less appealing painting tiny scale infantry becomes, that being said im happy for you as i imagine you will get joy out of them.
Are any of the titans dreadnaught sized so i can make my opponents perplexed that im using them for the wrong game?
The warhound is slighter than the old boxnaught, but about as tall.
Yeah but at least contrast paints are a thing now. I tried painting some marines during the #pic 40,000 era and just gave up.
I getcha, although the older I've got the more I enjoy smaller scales. A few chaps is cool, but slapping down a full division in BT or a chunk of a Roman Legion on a table feels good
You pretty much have to buy another box of marine Infantry to have any sort of playable army.

I heavily disagree with both the scale and the amount of parts.
Scale is: 8mm tall regular humans, 9.8mm tall astartes. In comparison, Vanguard's models in power armour are 8mm tall (as they should be), and are compatible with regular humans you can have from other 6mm ranges. Hell, Imperialis is incompatible even with its own previous range. Titanicus buildings have 6mm tall doors.
And as someone who never enjoyed assembling GW's stuff, I would much rather go for a tank that has just "hull" and "turret", and that's it. Tank that also fits at least on a 40mm base.
Still not available in Australia/New Zealand, but this video is tempting me. I'm loathe to have to buy yet more terrain for a new scale, though...

Great vid again,and hope you both keeping well,great detail on sprue,only prob is i have all the armies in previous scale so these dont fit in with them and limited to what will be released so unfortunately not for me.
It's unfortunate that they'll never make any Xenos or current 40k releases for this game system, it completely killed any interest I would have for it. Amazing miniminiatures, though!

Fortunately for my bank account I have managed to resist the call of Adeptus Titanicus and Legions Imperialis.
I would not be able to say that had GW remembered that both the Eldar and Orks were around during the Heresy times and did fight against Imperium forces with everything from infantry all the way up to titans of their own. Especially as I could much more easily afford a large Eldar force these days then I could back in the 90's.
My advice: Do *not* go and get the Mini of the month Rhino. Painting that might change your mind... It did mine 😅
@@PavelThorsonos If I wanted to paint a tiny rhino, I still have a bunch of old epic plastic ones from 30 years ago that I could paint anytime I want to.

Give it time. The fact that the box is labeled ‘epic scale’ strongly implies GW is going to keep making kits for it over the next few years

Regular 40k minis are already too small for me and my horrible motor skills, let alone ones a fraction of that. Look cool, but not for me. Great unboxing though!
If you're complaining about 8mm not being "epic" don't look at Warlord Games as their "epic" is 12.5mm
Id love this game if it werent the horrible infantry sculpts. I know the filled voids are unavoidable but its a big turn off for me unfortunately
There's a guy that's done a video on a fairly simple fix for that.
Also, remember it's only some of the infantry affected. Plus, the things are so tiny you'd probably never ever notice when you've got your army on a table.
