When the Sicarans overwatched the Leviathans early in the game, I think you can shoot heavy bolters at dreads. They are not vehicles but they are "armoured" so you reroll failed saves.
Holy crap! I bought 2 starters and slowly putting it together and painting them. So glad you guys are playing it and making videos! Hopefully, I can play some time soon. Keep up the good work and keep up the Flames of War and Team Yankee also!
Great game. Here are my notes : Commanders must join a detachment when deployed (pg 87) and then are then subject to coherency rules. Placing the commander in a separate building more than 2” would not be allowed and would have compulsory moves based on coherency rules (pg 50) Moral checks are at 50% or more (pg 64) so loosing 2 models from a unit of 4 models would cause a check. (rhinos) First fire units MUST be activated in the first fire stage (pg 54) they cannot be held to fire in the advance fire stage. If no targets are available they will not be able to fire. Turn 2 I think yall forgot to resolve the combat the word eaters would have had to test morale after loosing 2 rhinos and 4 bases (6 units) Wrecker hits happen in first fire or advance fire stages. (Not during the combat phase. (Pg. 85)
You gentlemen are a delight to watch in game. Great sportmanshup and banter. Also, the table looks great and your paint jobs are very good. You both deserve those snacks. Thank you for posting this video, as it was very helpful.
Thanks, this is the BEST compliment. We play to have fun with our friends and tell fun stories on the tabletop. Don't get me wrong, we all love winning but it's not the goal. Having a good time is the most important.... so are snacks.
I hope to get more in the future as well. I did dive heavily into the game. I have two tables worth of Terrain. Jacob, Sam and Mark all collected armies so it's just a question of squeezing games into the schedule.
Great battle report and lovely armies. One thing I haven't seen anyone comment is at 23 minutes when the Ignores Cover question comes up. Ignores cover trait: "a model suffers no penalties to its Hit rolls for targeting a Detachment within an area of terrain. In addition, Hits scored bypass Cover Saves." The Astartes missile launchers are really really good at clearing buildings and would have wiped out the assault squad. Also as an aside, the Deredeo would not have had to re roll their invul save as armourbane only affects armor saves. Both are saves but Invulnerable save is different from armor save. Another point is that a whole detachment has to be garrisoned. So the Ultras on the right side would have to have all been in the building.
1:16:00 the graviton weapon should have still applied it’s AP to the building even though it inverts the pass/fail. So one of those saves would have been okay and the building “might” have lived. Grav weapons are just crazy at killing structures though.
It looks even better in person. Next time he's over. Maybe I'll try to film a Army showcase with him just to show off his awesome paintwork. What do you guys think? Would that be something you'd like to see?
Quite a decent battle report. A couple things I felt it was missing: First, a fixed camera showing the full table, bonus if it was top-down. Just something to cut to now and again and give a broad view of what was going on. Second, was an army shot of each where you talk through the forces before deployment, so it's more clear what you have.
Great game. Feedback for the filming. Can you have a dice box that you can throw the dice and keep them in frame. Also if you want to keep doing hand held maybe shoot a wider shoot and smoothing camera movements in post.
Nice battle report but I have to say something about a mistake made by 90% of the people on YT. Your own models provide cover to the ennemies when they are not part of the same detachement. At 26min 10s, your Deredeos must suffer -2 to hit the Ultramarine Deredeos because you shoot through your own Predators.
At roughly 17mins in: After close combat if a detachment loses more fights than the opposing detachment, it takes a morale check (unless implacable) and withdraws if it fails. This is different from failing a morale check when losing half or more of remaining models in a detachment when shot at, which is when the detachment is issued with a fall back order. Edit: Think you corrected this later.
Thanks the building are a mix of Wargame Forge and Lumos Miniature Terrain, both can be found at MyMiniFactory. I did a review of the Wargame Forge stuff in this video. ruclips.net/video/w2we603Ys4M/видео.html
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmallMe too. And the likes of Zstu, BlitzBitz and so on, who don’t seem to get enough love for the quality of their work. Of course it might help if I actually got around to painting something . . .🙄
You've had plenty of rules comments already, and I hate to add one more, but in the Leviathan vs. Predator fight at around 1:10, the Leviathans have rend, and should start with 3 dice, you only rolled 2.
While everyone else is doing rules comments I'll give you the setting for the battle this would fall somewhere in the Shadow Crusade when the Word Bearers and World Eaters where dispatched to Ultramar to keep the Ultramarines busy
What an amazing paintjob on both armies! Well done! And regarding the rules, I'm playing my thirteenth game this weekend and so far we didn't have a single game in which we did everything correct. Lots of extra rules when buildings are involved, or multiple detachments in the same Engagement... I think you did most things correct, and maybe I missed a few of your commentary bits, but did the Thunderhawk hover? Otherwise it can never get a First Fire order. Regarding the Leviathan siege dreads versus the building, the Wrecker rule is for every individual model. And since the Leviathan only has one Wrecker weapon, there's nothing to combine to get a better AP value. Oh and the Thunderhawk has a 5+ Jink save, which could've saved it from destruction in that last round of shooting (since you rolled a 5 and a 6 for your normal armour save, which was a 6). Overall, great looking scenery, great looking armies, can't wait to see more!
Great stuff John and Jacob, a super premier league battle report, as usual. You've given me a headache. I've avoided this game because I used to do Epic and got shafted by GW, like many others. Thing is, I really fancy this but I'm weighing it up with the percentage likelyhood of GW dropping it again sooner or later - the number of members of various FB GW groups makes interesting reading in that LI is decidedly low, which is not promising on face value. I suppose, in a more direct way, I'd rather trust a starving rat in my vintage cheese cupboard than GW.
Thanks! Am I worried about GW support of the game. Yes. their track record is not the best and the botched initial launch killed some community enthusiasm for sure.

Ignore cover ignores penalty to hit from terrain

good catches. As you can probably tell we are still learning the game. Thanks for the comments
Thanks for the video. I like the alternating activations much better than I go you go. I may have to look into getting Legions Imperialis.
Beautiful armies and a beautiful table. Love the LI content!
Thank you kindly!
Im growing more and more discontent with GW for every year but LI was a bright spot in dark!
Lovely minis and IMO a really decent ruleset!
Love seeing LI on the channel, hopefully there will be more to come! I’ve had a ton of fun playing so far.
More to come. Just filmed a fun Titandeath mission over the last weekend.
Impressive table! Really nice scenery :D
LI is a very enjoyable game. It also lends itself very well to 3d printing. In fact many printed LI minis look better than the original.
Very true indeed. While I think almost all of Jacob's list is GW mine is almost all 3D printed.
I don’t know what you’re smoking but you’re well high
@@TetsugakuSan About what exactly? I can choose what version of the armor I want even. Both tactical and termies.

Great battle. I love the terrain. Can you share how you painted the "white" buildings? I need to stop making everything gray.
Hi and thanks! The white buildings were base coated with Monument Hobbies Ivory, Oil wash of brown/black, then a dry brush of light Ivory.
