I've only been shooting a trad bow for a little over 3 years. Being self-taught I made many mistakes along the way. I practiced 5 days a week and still couldn't get the results I wanted. Then I remembered something from my experience playing golf for 30 years. I stopped thinking about form and technique when shooting my bow. Like golf, I eliminated thoughts of my mechanics and let my natural ability take over. With my bow I was always thinking about my grip, anchor, release, etc. My arrows fly much better now that I just focus on the target. It worked in golf, and it works in archery too. At least for me. I still check my form but not when I'm actually shooting. Good video! Thanks for sharing.
@@jscott4431 I appreciate where you’re coming from 100%!! You don’t get good at putting by playing the entire game of golf… I have been able to get folks shooting very well in a way that suits them much faster than trying to sort them into a “mold”.. our ability to look at something.. and connect with a mechanic required to hit that something is already highly developed. Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely, i find when I try and do all things well (including perfect focus) i throw my shots. I look at the spot, I don't lazer focus, but i merely look at the small spot and relax and release and i get the best accuracy that way which is usually within 2 inches at 15 yards
Im gonna put a couple little nails or tacks on my grip to locate my grip easier..too many times I let a grip that's a little off get a release..I gotta stop wasting my focus on garbage hand positions! I ain't got the elbow to waste..when I'm on I'm happy! But once I get to the point where my shooting elbow is blown up I gotta give it a break for a couple weeks, and that's torture. Grip!! Im going to get a solid grip position..I know its important.. When I'm grinning its the grip..but sometimes I let a lil sliding feel go and its just a waste.
