    I’m glad you installed the deep filter, for a second I thought you were going to put the shallow pan one in

    Just did my 2004 TB today. Dang that was not easy. Got it all back together but could not get one bolt in by the shift cable bracket. I’ll have to try again tomorrow. Fortunately it’s not leaking.

      @@dlow5218 Had to bring to a mechanic who put it on a lift. Then while on the lift, he noticed that both my rear upper control arms were rusted through the frame. Apparently a common problem with this vehicle where salt is used on roads in winter. Sold it.

    Great video...but in the instructions it states to not use anything on the gasket. You can simply place the gasket on the pan with correct orientation and one bolt on each corner should hold it while it is put in place. I simply start all bolts and put the pan against the transmission and just tighten per specs from factory then I add 4.5 qts of oil, shift it between gears and then take for a test drive to warm it up and then add as needed to bring it up to necessary cross hatch on the dipstick. I just did mine today for the 2nd time because I added a bit of rtv to hold gasket and it started leaking. Followed correct procedure and pan is not leaking anymore.

      @bbbjim1fixedit  Год назад +1

      I used the gasket shellac because the gaskets tend to be thin and sometimes move around and tear. You are right they say to just use the gasket dry.

    My brother has a 2005 Extended Trailblazer. It has just over 200k. Our cousin owned it before and im almost positive the fluid is original. I drove it the other day and noticed its laggy to shift. Would just a spill and fill help or syphoning out a quart or so, dump new in to refresh it? Trying to help him out as it needs to last him

    • @bbbjim1fixedit

      If the filter is plugged, changing the fluid will have minimal effect on shifting. I wish you the best on your repair

      hardest part is keeping the oil from dripping down your hand, arm, and sleeve, use torque wrench and preferably rubber or vinyl gloves
