      @Michaelation08 ya I had to go to a jeep transmission, aw4 auto out of the jeep Cherokees.

      @@TDISwaps is that an awd transmission out of the 3rd gen Grand Cherokees? Bro I'm on this shit I have a dakota and I'm sick 16 mpg on a flat highway. I don't even have a damn v8 lol

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  2 месяца назад

      @Michaelation08 no this is the old Cherokee trans 94-01. Basically has to be a jeep transmission that was behind the 4.0l inline 6. Then that will bolt to most dodge transfer cases. I know of a stock 4 door Dakota TDI swapped getting nearly 30 MPG. Mines too big for that kind of MPG, but still can't beat it!

    Hey buddy how are ya? You build are so awesome!!! You are doing things we all want to do! I am amazed at how much power the ALH engine has! With 210k on it, it still performs so well.
    I’ve been looking locally for both ALH and BHW engines. I’m thinking the ALH would be the best for what I want to do, and BHW seems to be more expensive to fix and modify, but has fantastic potential! Any way thanks so much for sharing all that you do. I’m gonna go back and watch all the videos on this build again, pick up every tidbit of info I can!! Take care God bless you and the family!!

      So there is very little Dakota left in this truck, dodge adapters are very limited. But there are multiple jeep adapters available, and I used a jeep aw4 transmission to the Dodge np231 tcase in this setup. I have links to the adapters I will post one in the description section. Most motor mounts are custom made unfortunately

    Tac might need a resistor and a capacitor. Isolate the wire. Wrap it in foil and cover it with split loom.

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  Год назад +1

      Well I had pretty much determined that the tone wheel between the Jeep transmission flex plate and I used and the Dodge transmission flex plates had a different sequence of pickups, but I'm running into issues now with the whole dash going dead due to can buss issues, so it may end up with a custom dash like my Toyota anyways

    • @buysncharge
      @buysncharge Год назад +1

      @@TDISwaps Can is the most annoying part of it all. If the Vref isn't perfect it won't work. Some say add 46 ųf capacitor to the circuit but I don't know if that would even help. And when you're the only one doing a swap you don't get anything to reference.

    Do you think this engines have enough horsepower and torque to move something like a 08 ford f250?, i've always wanted to do something like that, and if so where can a get an adapter plate for a 1.9 tdi to a 6.4 powestroke transmission? Any help thanks.

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  4 месяца назад

      I don't think they make anything but a small block Ford adapter to TDI unfortunately. You could do a smaller ford transmission though. That will be a pretty heavy rig for the TDI, I'm not sure you could keep it cool over 60 mph or so in the heat. And you would want like 5.13 axle gears I would guess

  • @michaelharvey6130
    @michaelharvey6130 Год назад +1

    Can I ask where you got the turbo from? All of the shops that offer the GTD20XX turbos with a VW manifold, they all convert the controller from electronic to vacuum.

    Just curious..why does everyone use the 1.9..I thought the 2.0 made a lot more torque

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  Год назад +1

      It makes about 20 to 50 more torque stock, but no one leaves these engines stock. Once you start getting into tuning and bigger turbos and bigger injectors there's very little difference in what power you can make. The 2.0 can handle more without internal engine work but that comes with more expensive tuning and parts. The 1.9 makes V8 numbers very easily and that's all I'm looking for.

      @@TDISwapsi saw your other video where your egt’s got crazy high and you dropped a cylinder. Do you think a 1.9 swap into a stock dodge dakota with 33’s i would run into any overworking problems?

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  Месяц назад

      @gavynrich1034 that was mostly caused by outside Air temps at 117°. Tuning needed fixed to control EGTs better on top of that, but my cooling system was not keeping up over 105° outside. Back home here at 70° out I can tow a trailer no problem. So it really depends on how well you build it. I have 5.13 axle gears that mostly make up for the big tires. It moves about like the V8 I pulled out.

      @hallocz31 well the stock V8 engine was rated at 150 Kilowats at sea level 0M elevation, but I live at 1600M elevation so the gas engine probably was very similar if not less power in the mountains.
