This kid is so talented I once saw him in a karate competition too.
Nico Perez-Rojas haha
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
meh...
Lol
lol
Legend has it that Steve Vai had to practice for 4 weeks straight to learn how to mess up. Wasn't easy for him!
Man I could have showed him In about 3 seconds!
Or just continuously play before to make his hand tired
mrhoffame I
They say lot's of takes were required to make this scene because Vai was unable to screw up.
But Vai's a plays like a robot lol He's not like someone like Edward Van Halen, who had and has got it all, mainly at being a great songwriter and a hit maker. And please "Don't tell me to listen Eat them and smile",just a Van Halen rip off...Hi from France :)
74 torino no, It’s not
Steve Vai player both the parts, the one where the dude with the tele played the song and the one where Steve Vai messed up the same song
I could've been his stunt double. Wouldn't have been able to play one chord.
nicolas sosolic hilarious the amount of lunacy in your comment. Vai is The consummate music student, his feeling is alien on the guitar and his songwriting is other worldly. I’ve also met him, very nice guy and personable. He wrote all these licks in one sitting, did all the recording in less than four hours. Only had to come back for mastering, 99% of the guitar players in the world at that time, couldn’t have done that. So piss off.
Vai should have gotten an Oscar for acting like he couldn't play the Paganini piece.
Chimbinha vs Steve Vai me trouxe até aqui
Eu também kkk
Mais um. Não pude deixar de conferir.
eu também
eu tbm kkkkkkkkkkkk
eu tambem kkk
that shred was literally on fire, totally impressed by vai's performance. made me to take up my guitar and play 035
Yes
Yes
Yes
That part that Ralph did that originally done by Steve vai it's from a classical Violinist called Paganini if u don't know who that is I recommend u him up and watch the movie Satan's violinist and listen and watch the entire story
Steve Vai is a legend in his own time. And one hell of a nice guy.
seen him in a concert in newcastle upon tyne about 6 years ago, maybe more and all i can say is, steve is the man, the greatest ive ever heard.
A behind the scenes interview mentioned how they had to record hundreds of takes for Steve to make mistakes..
Where can I find it ?
Peter M ohh wowww😱😱😱
What an incredible experience that must have been for Ralph Maccio sp?) to have a duel with such a prolific artist tho
That makes no sense
I think it was millions of takes. Sounds like b.s. to me. That shit was easy for Steve. In no publication did Steve Via say it took numerous takes. Think about it. Everyone says, "I heard it took blah blah blah". Ok. What publication did you read blah blah blah? B.s.. Oh yeah the b.s. magazine.
They should do a sequel to "Crossroads". If Netflix can revitalize "The Karate Kid" franchise, they can easily do the same. Vai and Macchio ain't getting any younger
I was thinking the exact same thing!!
steve vai is a virtuoso guitarist. one of the ten best of all time. magnificent what a pleasure to listen to. zappa discovered him, kudos for that. the rest is pure talent. no john bohnhams needed here. go all the way
all this playing and all he had to do was sweep the leg...
hhahahahahahahahahaha
sgvpotter hahaha... “sweep the leg Johnny!!!”
sgvpotter awesome
Lmfao!
😂😂😂😂
2019 now and still love watching this!
When I watched this movie, I fast forwarded to the last 15 minutes. This is the best part of the while movie. Vai is an absolute monster on the guitar. Just a master.
I was thirteen when this movie came out and its one of the memories that inspired me to learn guitar. So bad ass
This film came out in the 86 when neo-classical guitar shredding was all the rage.
this scene specifically was the one that got me to start playing guitar.
Thats a blues man! Played that dude off stage, grieved for three seconds and kept playin.
Crossroads Dueling Guitars still the best all these years
Nothing every beats natural talent and skill. You see, that’s God-given and 10 times better than anything the man below can give.
Why must the metalhead always be the bad guy?!
True. lmao
because they're the one who looks like he knows what he's doing.
Peter Senior This comment was gold
because he sold his soul to the devil to be good at metal :) just like all the real rockstars
@@tonycruise Not all of them

One of the all time great movie scenes.
Can I ask the name of the movie?
God dam havn't seen this in over 25 yrs.. Still just as good.. thanks for your upload
Arlen Roth was Ralph Macchio's guitar tutor for the film and played many of his pieces. According to Roth on his website, the final duel was arranged from parts played by him, Steve Vai, Ry Cooder and Bill Kanengiser, who did the classical playing throughout the film.
Era Moleque quando fui ver no Center em N.I esse filme.. saudades, agora o Kid não deve nada os Mestres Eddie Van Halen, Axel Rudi Pell, Joe Satriani , Yngwie Malmsteen, Mick Mars ... Toca até + que o Modinha Slash
Final performance based on CAPRICE N ° 5 BY NICOLLO PAGANINI
Performance final baseada no CAPRICE N°5 DE NICOLLO PAGANINI.
This brings back many good memories of my childhood! The 80s just had so many great movies I could spend a whole nother lifetime watching them all.
The guy in black that played the Devil did such a good job in that role. I often watch this movie just to see him.
All time greatest movies ever made for those with taste!!
great!!!! thanks!!!
This scene made Vai an instant superstar. It helped expose him to The David Lee Roth band which till this day remains as one of the most ultimate supergroups .
yes!!!! great
Vai is so talented. Its childs play for him.
Johnson's CROSSROADS was transformed into the best R&R song of all time by Eric Clapton / Cream.
That gave me the chills everytime
SUN... their facial expression says everything. This movie is to this day still FN DOPE! But the way that white boy walked down the steps... he killed it, amazing!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
One of the best movies I have ever seen !
Can I ask the name of the movie?
Greatest acting job I’ve ever seen. Steve Vai loosing a guitar contest.

Oh how this movie relates to my soul😍❤️🦋🎼
Absolutely love this film
Steve Vai gets all the credit for this since he's in the film, but that is Ry Cooder on the slide doing Ralph Macchio's part. Ry Cooder is another amazing guitarist!
What a fantastic memory this movie is....
Remember, classical music always wins...
Hee! That's what one of my mentors, Jimmy Cheatham used to call "cultural subterfuge". He dedicated much of his life assuring that African-American musics, particularly Jazz got its due. He even made a case about a "Muppet Babies" episode. Kermit had a wilting plant and he finds some Jazz music on the radio and the plants withers further, but the plant bloomed when Rock started playing.
Viewing this movie in context (which is crucial) it was a rare thing at the time to have a major film so steeped in Blues. However, Blues music is associated with Hell and damnation and the Blues guy that ol' scratch relies upon...is White. And while it's no guarantee that Brown is going to Heaven, that European musical tradition sure got him out of Hell.
There is a lot to like in this movie. Ry Cooder's musical direction, some very nice performances, but there are a number of red flags to be had in the screenplay, which, as I recall, was a contest winner.
This post does not exist to knock Classical music, Rock and roll. My degree is in Music and I have run an eclectic radio show that features many sorts of music. However, when I viewed this movie when it came out, I dug the music, but despaired a little. Nowadays, there is a wealth of exposure of various musics via movies, TV, streaming media and RUclips.
Music is about cooperation to create harmony where everyone wins- NOT competition.
JS Bach, you magnificent bastard! You're always right!
So according to this movie:
Macchio plays blues,
Vai beats him with heavy metal
Macchio then beats him then with classical
Classical > Metal
Metal>Blues
Love this movie , love the showdown .
I love this scene, one of the best, just like the one with Marty McFly.
0:58 just look at his laugh
Just like I used to rent the VHS to bbn rewatch this scene several times, I keep coming back bbn to see it on RUclips
great!!!!
Toca muito . O filme é 10
Shortly after the finish of this movie, Yngwie ate 17 of those cast members.
YOU'VE UNLEASHED THE FOOKING FURY!
Jack Butler, he's gonna like you.
I already got you....
Took me six months to get that down note for note. Last time I played it I was in Sam ash music. They offered me a job on the spot. Don't play as much as I used to but if I brushed up for a few days I could still pull it off. Always loved neo classical. Still do.
1 of my favorite movies 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Steve Vai's acting performance was actually pretty damn good for not being an actor... Awesome.
moresnare he didnt even say a word but his body language was out of this world. He sold the part as good as any non actor could
+Guilherme Henrique
eu tbm
Onde acho esse filme?
Steve vai says "thank you very much" twice with his guitar, after Eugene wins you can hear him heckling the devil with "Satan, see you around, looks like we won, HAHAHAHA" with HIS guitar
I love this scene
Steve VAIIII
Steve is better, i dont like this scene :D
Daniel-Sam humilhou Steve Vai
I fkn love this. Over n over n over. !!!!!!
Sctratch displayed honor in the bet by tearing up Willie's contract when Lightning beat Jack Butler. I like that part!
yes Marty McFly invented rock n roll and Ralph Macchio progressed it to Eddie Van Halen
AMAZING the sound he gets out of that guitar for not even using a pick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Toy Caldwell never used a pick either!!
Best movie ever!🎸🎸

Lesson here. Never forget the classics!
*Steve Vai played all parts* so Steve always won 😍
