All of Manila is the real Manila. The pretty and the shabby, the modern and the old, the organized and the chaotic, the fancy and the poorer areas, etc.
agreed! we want to show it all and we will
You're on point!
@@EoinandAisling I was referring to how you titled your video. It’s just that I see that often in videos from other vloggers as well and I think it does a huge disservice to the city and the country as a whole. Because it implies that if an area is modern, opulent, clean, organized, it’s not really “real” Manila or “real” Philippines.
This channel is fake, they intentionally wanted to get more subs and like, read their name not even real, they just wanna get enough bucks /income then scammed people to this fake channel then move on after that is their purpose and later on they will create another channel
Great comment ❤
Binondo & Divisoria is packed to the gills and I love it. Sometimes it could be overwhelming, specially for a foreigner but it it quite an adventure.
Manila has two faces, the old downtown Manila of Quiapo, Sta Cruz, Binondo,Tondo n the modern rich BGC, Makati, Eastwood, Rockwell, Filinvest city etc....
Eastwood is Quezon City
There is Manila the capital or the old downtown Manila. There are mega districts of Metro Manila which are normally considered the business districts of Metro Manila like Pasig, Makati, Taguig, and Quezon City. The most fancy townships are Alabang in Muntinlupa, the Ayala in Makati, and BGC in Taguig.
Manila has soo many different sides and parts and we love them all, its such a huge city to explore
I was there. The Manila Chinatown emohasizes Fukien. I was in Singapore 🇸🇬 last year, 2023. That nation emphasizes Mandarin culture.
I am a San Francisco native 🌁. I go through Chinatown 🇨🇳 many times.
I visit Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦 often. The largest Chinatown in Canada is there. These Chinatown communities tend to be more Cantonese
Jollibee has resembles some aspects of McDonald's.
Music. Morissette Amon is the most popular singer there. Arnel Pineda is the leaf singer of Journey. He is popular there.
You ended up in the Divisoria area. Though technically some parts are in Chinatown, it is more towards the outskirts already. The Binondo (Chinatown you are looking for) area is where the good Chinese restaurants and merchandise are. You can take a tricycle and ask them to take you to Binondo Church which will be towards the center of Chinatown.
We walked in circles for hours, we got so distracted and intrigued by all the little alleyways and markets happening, so where-ever we ended up, we enjoyed it lol
I am so confuse when they say, the chaotic and the old part of manila is the real manila.
We didn't mean to confuse. but this felt true and authentic to us
They are right, that old chaotic place is the old Manila, trust im old enough to know, Makati was developed in the late 60's together with Quezon City, BGC the 90's that place was the center of commerce in the Philippines since the Spanish time😊
@@EoinandAislingIn a couple of years when manila is 90% modernized and middle class you will make your way to that 10% and call it "the real manila". That's just how you people are.
Locals who visit Manila go to the real Manila like BGC, Makati, Roxas Ave, Araneta, or the Bay area. Just a few go to the old portion of Manila. 😊
I love the walking cheer squad you both have, lol
Going to the chaotic MAIN TRADE SOURCE of all commercial goods of the entire Metro Manila and way beyond and calling it the "real Manila" is ignorance AF. These foreigners don't realize that "gritty" Divisoria is unnoticeably overflowing with cash. It's like going to a huge smelly fish trade port in Japan and calling it the real Japan.
nice video..
Thanks :)
The chinese simply blended with us. And, why not? Which is why chinatown don’t look chinese❤❤❤😊
I think you are in Divisoria area and not in Chinatown (Binondo district). You usually see an arch when entering Chinatown with dragons on lamp posts.
I think we walked in circles so much that we ended up here lol
Regarding the reason why business with the same products tend to cluster together in the Philippines, an old time businesswoman once shared with me that when same product businesses group together, it is easier for people who intend to buy their product to go there, and there is enough business for everyone.
I went to Cork when I went Ireland such a nice part of the country
No way! What did you think of Ireland?
The Filipino islanders connects easily with other islanders. Welcome to the Philippine islands New Zealanders. 🤙🏼 😁 ✌️
Kids were asking your youtube channel's name
⭐️ you’re in the outer edges of Chinatown. Look for the Chinatown arches- they mark the borders. Chinatown is in Binondo district and it’s distinctly Fil-Chinese.
Looks like Divisoria Market to me.
oh no we must have walked ourselves out of there lol
Manila is one of the largest city in the world composed of 16 cities the oldest is Intramuros and the original city of Manila Manila have different characters From Ultra Modern city like BGC to down to earth lay back atmospher like the old sector of Manila the place you explore is the old sector that exude an old world ambience I think part of it is Tondo because church of Tondo is seen at the back ground China Town is a few walk away from Tondo the goverment is trying to decongest the city of Manila they are building new Island city in Manila bay called Smart city this will add anorher city in Manila
HELLO! HAVE A NICE DAY

That's not Manila the only Manila is only intramuros. A lot of vloggers got it wrong tondo is a different town.it was only annex recently. And also that's not Chinatown all the things in this vlog are all wrong.
it's part of manila
@@EoinandAisling yeah recently it was added but the real Manila is only intramuros. That's place is not Chinatown it is divisoria one of the oldest market in the country.
Where do you get your information?😅
@@rinotilde2699 that is the history of the place and from manileno himself.
The previous mayor tried to get rid of the rubbish and moved all those vendors out of the main streets and footpaths, but now they are all back. Just be aware that there are pickpockets there. Welcome back.
Oh no way, that’s so interesting so maybe that had a big influence as well!
I think still dirty Manila, but improving.
Fyi Divisirio is part of Manila and tondo is parr of Manila
🙏🏽🙏🏽💙

Your names are very to difficult to spell and remember....Unique Names.... please hand the locals a Card for them to remember and pronounce your names😊
We keep saying we need to do this!
There are only a few places "green zones" (BGC and so on) in metro Manila. Rest is very!! old, burnt out and really sketchy! Just been there 8 days. And RUclipsrs/vlgs don't ever tell the hole trut! some how they always make it sound so pretty! We only meet friendly people, but even they told us to be careful unless you are in these zones. Very sad for local people!!
Sorry you were not able to explore all of Manila
Only 2% of metro Manila is nice. I am referring to BGC and makati CBD. The rest, 98%, are old , dilapidated, ugly, and chaotic. The worst is metro Manila is totally infested with poor people who live on the streets, esteros, under the bridges, and pretty much everywhere. You don't see this type of situation in other Asian countries. Very sad.
There are numerous nice areas throughout the city but all cities have this same diversity and same issue with regards to the poverty. It’s a hard part to see but unfortunately in huge cities like this it can be hard to avoid
Clearly you haven't been to all of Metropolitan Manila. So Ortigas, Mandaluyong, Marikina, San Juan etc are old and dilapidated...?
98%? You're clearly over-exaggerating. FYI, there are other developed areas here like Alabang, Ortigas, some parts of Quezon City, Pasay, etc. It's just that a lot of the poor people here who are originally from other parts of PH have chosen to squat in Metro Manila.
