Nothing like the sound of that deep growl of a jet engine gives more chills down my spine not even a V8 engine. I always get super excited when flying mostly because of the force you feel when the engines just push you back but also the feeling of the plane going down the runway really fast and rattling sounds and that beautiful engine growl. Man i need to fly somewhere just to get that feeling again.
At 2:50, when the compressor is starting to spool up, it’s a lovely sound! The drone of the engines as the ship wheels away from the concourse relaxes me so much that my eyes start to get heavy and I begin to nod off. Love it!
So, That's the fuel in the engine igniting. its a brilliant sound. If you want to see more of that kind of sound, look up AgentJayZ, and some of his engine tests. He runs those engines open and they sound beautiful.
Unfortunately I have to disagree there...that is my least favourite part of the 777 experiences, when the engines start up they make an unpleasant buzz that sounds like something is broken and shakes the whole plane...I find it quite disruptive!
Just imagine the strength of the engine mounts to the wing...next, just imagine the strength of the wings to withstand all this force...simply amazing!
These engines put out 120,000 lbs of thrust per engine. GE 90's hold the world record for the most powerful jet engine while the other big ones range from 80,000 - 90,000 lbs. They're absolute monsters!!
Really? How are they compared to in different sizes? Is there any rating for "thrust and diameter" of the engine opening? Could a smaller engine be more powerful per engine diameter and length...or is it all about "thrust"...no matter how big the opening and length is?
Actually I would suppose a smaller engine can be as powerful but GE 90 is the biggest. The fan measures at 123 inches or 310cm. The GE 90 - 115b fan meaures at 128 inches and has 127,900 lbs of thrust per engine. So yeah, as it still stands today, GE holds the biggest and most powerful jet engine. Kinda cool huh? 👍Generally though, the bigger engines will produce the most thrust. In a turbo fan jet engine, most of ypur thrust comes from the fan anyway, not so much from the combustion. So I guess you could say, the bigger the fan, the bigger the thrust.
Thanks for the info. I guess I was comparing "amount of thrust per...?" Sort of in auto engines..."horsepower per cubic inch"..."horsepower per pound"...etc. I was also thinking about the SR-71 Blackbird had super-powerful engines. I'm sure they were nowhere near the size of those GE engines. I'm also thinking of rocket engines and the thrust they can generate. Ever time I fly I like to look out of the window during takeoff and watch and listen to that engine "pump out all that power." Amazing!
As a former air force Jet engine technician, The propulsive devices they have now really blow me away.. I Fell in love with Jets when i asked my uncle, whats that fire coming out the back.. That was an F-4 phantom, the thunderbirds were flying back in the 70's,. then i joined the Air Force from that moment.. KC-135's, B-52's G/H, F-15's.. nice Video's.. keep it up... thanks..
Carson Myers If I would compare the vibrations during start up between a 737 and a 777, the 777 will always win. Sounds like you have to cover your ears when the fuel ignites during start up. Gez I love the GE90 bohemith.
That engine's spinning SOO fast at 13:27, no wonder it can suck a man clean in. And you got to be actually in there to appreciate the takeoff acceleration. Really, mindblowing.
I don't think so. The aircraft just passed the "thrust reduction altitude." It was probably very light on the take-off, so the engines were derated a lot. Meaning the climb thrust setting was actually higher than take-off thrust. So instead of reducing the thrust, it slightly increased. Pilot did nothing. It's all done by A/T - the auto throttle. 777 has 3 fixed T/O thrust settings, assumed temperature method or a combination of both. Depends on the airline, what it chooses. Then there are 3 fixed climb thrust settings - CLB, CLB-1 and CLB-2. The later two are derated options to save engine wear and increase it's lifetime.
I remember riding a Boeing 777 for the first time, I and my family heard the engine sounds and we said it sounded different from the other planes we rode. I love Boeing 777s’ engine noises.
If he (she) is only crossing the channel to central Europe, no need to load way up on fuel; just load a reasonable reserve. So, a lightweight takeoff with low thrust requirement.
I love the roaring of the engines.its fantastic.state of art technology.wow!!!. General electric thumbs up for your good job of making so powerful engines, environmental friendly and economically efficient.

Triple Seven with 2 GE90-115B’s....Perfect Combination!!! Thanks Boeing and GE!!🇺🇸

Ahh the great J79s and J47s. Classics.
Pale in comparison to the mighty ge90, (at 110,000 lbs thrust a piece @ MAX CONT) but classics nonetheless.
100th like
the beauty when it lifts off the ground is unexplainable.
The start up sound is the best one ^^

Carson Myers I know right
Carson Myers YES!!!😂
I'm always impressed by the change of the wing's shape! Just look before the take-off and like 5 minutes after! Wow
You could definitely tell when the wings started to develop sufficient lift when it started to bend and flex some.
2:49 the best startup sound :D
Gotta love the sound when the blades reach speed of sound!! it roars so powerfully!!
Like the 777. Levely plane!!

Jake's Aviation too much!
Jake's Aviation i felt for a second whether the pilot had gone mad... he was redlining it ... literally

115,000lbs of thrust, its actually ridiculous how powerful they are one of those engines has the same power as all 4 of an A340's engines combined.
