Sandi, I have a funny for you. As you know I'm a huge fan of both you and Sage and thank you, compliment you, and appreciate everything each of you do to teach and inspire every one of us who is striving to improve. I had no idea you were affiliated with Topo and truthfully hadn't even heard about them until recently and once I did I became intrigued. In doing some research I accidentally came across your video here and feel it is somewhat an omen. I was leaning towards purchasing a pair and your video here is the deciding factor for me. Good luck and best wishes to you and Sage and Topo has a wonderful ambassador in you.
A top 10 finisher of the Ultra Trail Snowdonia said to me of Topo. Footshape of an Altra, Stack of a Hoka, Grip of a VJ and build quality of an Inov8. He had covered 165km in a pair of MTN 2's and his feet aside from being very wet were in top condition. On that day I had worn the Ultraventure pro and have worn Topo's almost exclusively since. I am a complete convert to this brand. Yes there sole compounds are dense but the elimination of dysfunctional injuries, better form, stronger feet is just too much to ignore.
I think it should have been flagged at the start that this is a sponsored video, but you are so darn nice & genuine Sandi that I’ll let you off! Good luck with the season ahead.
jbatcha21 Yes, I saw that. It’s a bit ambiguous IMO. Same with the description box. It doesn’t actually state that it’s sponsored content, just hints at it. Happy for you to disagree though. It’s what makes the world go round.
I have the Runventure 2 (and a second new pair in my closet) and think they are a great shoe. I am trying to convince the specialty running store I work for to carry them. Wide, foot shaped toe boxes and lower drops are the way to go, not only for running but for long term preventative foot and body challenges as well. Thanks, cheers and have fun running wild!
My Favourite go to shoes is Altra Lone Peak 6 and 7 wide version since I have extra wide toes box area but the original version is also excellent for normal individuals.
I’m a little older and appreciate your view in changing shoes relative to drop and toe box! I love hanging with 0 drops but I can’t run in them. Too much stress on my calves. I’m from AR and bought a pair of Topos in Boulder a couple of years ago. Really nice shoe! I’ve since bought others but continue to rotate based on my legs, feet and terrain of the day. Cheers!
I have been running about 2 years on the road, then recently switched to trails as I found the pounding was getting too much being an older runner. Anyway I went to the trail store and compared Saucony, Inno-8, Hoka and Topo and to be honest it wasn't even close. I purchased the Topo Runventure 2. Just today I bought a 2nd more padded Topo, the TerraVenture 2 which I plan to rotate depending on the run. These shoes are sooo comfy...
Im with you on the zero drop. Been in Altras for slightly over a year. Best decision I've made...running wise. What kind of socks do you run in yours are rad! Best!
Shoes with die-injected midsole is the problem. The upper molds inside a framing midesole. The forefood is framed by the midsole which can not adjust like the upper of a traditional strobled shoe. The upper can not adjust to forefood as traditional designed shoes like adidas SL 72. This is a strobled shoe but the midsole is like a mat just glued (typ. hotglued at adidas) to the strobled upper. The forefood is surrounded by sued-leather which can adjust to the forefood. Anyway Topo Athletic does many things right and outsoles are integrated units together with the midsole today. Topo uses brand-new Vibram XS Trek EVO Outsole on two Models alteady incl. the Trailventure. The Trailvemture offers a Protectionplate where it should be, protecting the fascia.
I was initially excited about Topo shoes as they tick so many boxes and one of the few companies that make shoes shaped like a human foot (radical concept hey?!) *but* very disappointed that they screw up just about every shoe with aggressive unnatural toe spring and fairly stiff thick cushioning, turning the foot into an inactive object that doesn't flex, the shoe doing the movement instead through a rocking motion of a curved sole. Yuck. Such a shame.
Hi! thanks for sharing your experience and knowlege! Excuse me , what shoe would you recommend insted of topos? i thank you in advance, any help would be so much appreciated!
@@bernynavidad889 hi, it depends what you need in a shoe. For me personally I want foot shaped, zero or low drop, flexible, just a bit of cushion and no excessive toe curl at the front (called toe spring). I actually don't know of any shoe brand that makes such a shoe any more so I run in some pairs I stocked up on years ago that are no longer available. So I'm sorry I can't help. By all means try Topo as you might like them, everyone's needs are different.
@@christianlangfield9303 Hello! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me, it was very kind of you! No, on the contrary, your message was a great help to me, I appreciate your honesty! Take care of yourself, enjoying running! best wishes!
I have Lone Peaks and Terraventures. I use the Lone Peaks for smooth trail and the Topos if I need traction at all. Topo feels like it holds my foot better in the ankle but still has enough room to not have blisters in a 100.
Scott S I currently run in Lone Peaks also, but found I’m frequently twisting my ankle in them. Especially in the newest Lone Peak 4s. Was this your experience? The trails I run have lots of mud, rocks, tree roots and snow/ice in the winter. Are the Terraventures stiffer and add more stability? I’m thinking of trying these. I have Topo Magnifly 2 road shoes and love those!
@@lisarunsfast7368 I haven't worn the newest Lone Peaks but I wear older ones in Tennessee so experience most of what you describe (not snow). However I haven't had issues with twisting my ankles in them. I feel the difference in stiffness on my ankle most of all. A tighter grip. They may be better for you because of that fit.
I think vibram actually hurt the foot by separating the toes. I heard that the toes are supposed to work as a unit, and separating them can lead to injuries. Just something to think about.
@@zekehorton8545 Nah brah, vibrams allow the toes to work as a unit which definitely incudes separation and spreading. A crucial function to dissapate shock forces through your joints. You've been listening to The, ex-vegan, still dumb Runner. Having a wide toe box allows the same thing. That's what Sandi was saying.
I've been out for a year with heal pain 😢
it sure would be nice to get out and go for a run😊
I haven’t tried Topos, but have been running in Altra shoes for a couple of years, and love the zero drop, and wider toe box.
@Running Wild - Thanks for this video. Finding great shoes is a really expensive and difficult task. These videos help a lot.

Love this video Sandi. Speaking truly about something you believe in. Keep at it.
I think she believes in getting paid by topo (still good shoes though)
@@pgreenx True. I have tried many shoes and trail conditions. Rate the Topo as one of my favourite for trail.

These are on my list for trails

Yay! I love Topo shoes. Have 3 pairs right now.
U must be rich.
Love love love the Runventure 2s 🤗❤️
I couldn't agree more.
Thanks! I’m in the market now. Coming back from my new baby.😀
I HAVE JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST TOPO SHOES, CANNOT WAIT FOR THE COURIER;)
Using my ultraventure for training. They're the best I've had so far!
I’ll check them out 😊
Need a new pair as my Inov8's are falling apart. Have wide feet so shall try these. Thanks.

Great video!
What's the latest with the new topo and the new altars would you like for cushion?

Are their any footshape shoes that have a carbon fiber plate?
How does the toe box compare to Altra?
How long is your longest foot in cm and which size did you get?
