Japanese Couple Chooses Rural Life - Staying At My First WarmShowers | Ep. #11

- I recently met a Japanese couple that was doing something that I thought was pretty amazing. They decided to ditch their city lives in Kyoto and Tokyo and move to the countryside to start a business and live off the land. I was invited to their home, along with some other foreigners, for some good ole cultural exchange as we got our feet nice and muddy to help them plant some rice.
When I was passing through Fukui city, I stayed at my first ever Warmshowers in Japan.
The Warmshowers.org Foundation is a vibrant community comprising touring cyclists and gracious hosts. Our community serves as a platform for cyclists seeking meaningful connections during their journeys, and perhaps even the comfort of a warm shower along the way. Our dedicated hosts create genuine moments of joy for all involved.
My host family in Fukui City opened up their home to me and treated me like family. They were extremely kind and welcoming. They provided me a room, fed me tons of delicious food, and of course, treated me to as many warm showers as I wanted.

I thought they were Phenomenal people. Extraordinarily amazing loving intelligent, hard working very hard working people. They were very good people And that is just the tip of the iceberg of how I admire them!
Maybe population decline is a problem that countries all over the world are facing.
Maybe people will return to the countryside to engage in farming in the future, but it doesn’t feel like a bad thing!
Most people may choose to tear down the old house and build a new mansion.
It is really rare that they are willing to continue living in a 140-years house!
The Warmshowers is a great foundation that believes all touring cyclists can get the warmest help and enjoy the comfort of a warm shower!
Thanks a lot for sharing, really great job! 👍🥰👏
maybe so but Japans is a little more severe I think! Cycling around the countryside you see it all over, empty homes and villages, and the only people around are over 80 years old it seems. Yup, the warm showers was great! def gonna have to try it again
Thanks for watching!
@@NickKTravel It is my honor to watch your videos, thanks to you too!
The Japanese are wonderful, polite, and orderly people! I also hope their population decreases slower than other countries!
Take good care! Enjoy your warm showers! Happy travels! 👍🥰🙏
And what about the warm showers family? Pretty awesome right?

Heart-warming episode and admirable young couple, they did a great job renovating the big 140 years old house, very beautiful surroundings. Happy for you that you ‘re finally get the chance to see more of the country where you lived for so many years. Thank you for sharing the good vibes. Looking forward to see Nick T again in coming episodes.
Yeah I agree. People like that are super inspiring. If you check out their instagram they are doing so much more than what I showed in the video. They're very crafty!

15:40 That is lively house... Something that is rare in Japan indeed...
珍しくありません..
That old house in the Japanese "Desa" looks pretty cool.
I hope that the old man who got burned in the fire is going to be okay
Such a Beautiful rural life, the surrounding gives me a feel of Hayao Miyazaki Ghibli movies

Watching the video made me realise how different people's lives are yet we all have (hopefully) people who we love. Families who are dear to us. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints and Families and our Savior Jesus Christ mean alot to us. We believe families can and should be forever. So this is my comment and I liked your video with the thumbs up. God bless you. Love from Brother Powers
*Keren 🇮🇩👍
You said "they decided to ditch their city lives" what does ditch mean in this context?
I think it's kind of they separate their live from the city, and live in kind of village that far from the city, something like that,so they can enjoy and get off the crowded people, hustle and bustle of the city, something like that
Correct?
just means the left their life in the city to live in the countryside. "to ditch" means to leave behind
@@NickKTravelI got it, thank you
