Toraja, Indonesia ➖ I'm in a city known for its interesting beliefs and rituals regarding death, Toraja. I'm going to be exploring this fascinating city and diving deep into the local culture, experiences and what is involved in getting loved ones to heaven.
I'll be seeing the buffalo farm where the animals are sold up to $20,000 to be sacrificed. I visit a rich family who is preparing for their father's ceremony. I climb through caves with skulls, corpses and coffins in them. And lastly, I visit a village family that is still living with their deceased grandfather!

Tedong Saleko is the most expensive and rare buffalo in Toraja; its price can reach 300 million to 1 billion rupiah. You guys can google what it looks like.
Very interesting, such a high price. I wonder why
@@Gymson because it's rare😁😁😁

This is like an Indiana Jones movie. You’re a true adventurer Luke ❤️
what a good local guide hero, dasa is a legend. just surprisingly with bloody heavy rain at the end of video. al hail luke. hope you share to us about the ceremony in next video. toraya maelo!
You gave me heart attack when you're crawling that narrow path, so scary.
In Bali they have big ceremony for funeral called Ngaben and it's expensive, but in Toraja, their funeral ceremony more expensive and longer.
Interesting, I've never heard of that one
But I don't think ngaben is open for public no?
@@LukeDamant Ngaben is cremation (burning corpses), most Hindus did that, in Bali it is called Ngaben
@LukeDamant I wish someone would've told you it's respectful if you bring a gift as a peace offering bro u really need to go back
Unfair, female can bath touch nak ed te en boy bodies openly, yet the reverse been make taboo nowadays by feminist.
Always love your Indonesian series Luke. Also noticed you did a different kind of style with the voiceover in this video. Very nice. Looking forward to more from you.

Luke, I like the way you vlog, your friendliness with local people, keep it up Luke, you will definitely be famous in Indonesia, just like Dale Philip, many Indonesians know him.
Hi Luke, been watching your videos over and over. Really like the style of your travel. Wish I can show you more of my hometown, Makassar
Luke! you are amazing bro! Crawling in that cave takes a hell amount of courage. Was anxious watching you crawl haha great video and content really spontaneous yet informative!
Those buffalo prices are insane. Tracking one of those could probably dent my travel budget big time!
I don’t trust the prices
Hahaha yeah, no more travel after buying one of those
😢😮new fear unlocked, stucked in a cave

wkwwkkwkwkwk
What a perfect vlog. Beautiful view, nice people, unique culture, no scamming, and good information❤thank you for visiting toraja
Definitely one of the best videos,Luke. From riding a scoot to spelunking real quick 😂 and another Good thing, you stop by to eat in a cafe. In Philippines we call it “Pagpag”. You have to drop by somewhere after visiting graves or houses with deceased loved ones. So that the spirits won’t follow you home.
Enjoying the vlogs Bro, keep it up for the sunny south East of Ireland 😂😂😂🇮🇪
Great upload! Wow!
Looking great Luke!!
Dealing on that rocky offroad is crazy funny man! 😁 surprised that motobike get thru haha! Overall it's a good vlog from Luke, watching from Philippines.
I just saw the scene with Martin's body in his room still. That's wild that you were able to go in there. I'm not sure if I'd want to go in myself
Hi! Your videos are really awesome - and this is one of the best. A rare insight in Indonesian culture. However, it would be really cool if you tested the Kretek cigarettes in a video. Cigarette diplomacy is also a part of traveling!
love u bro!! keep going please ❤
WoW What a corker this episode was. This has got to be one of your top videos of all time!
The man has seen it all. Unreal scenes !

Be careful luke .. when on the road using a motorbike, because in Indonesia there are still many reckless motorbike riders,
and you may need to buy your camera needs such as a breket holder phone, so you can ride a motorbike normally.
Damn 1.33m subscribers and not reaching even 100k views per video is crazy. Why the F subscribe if not gonna watch 😢

Sulawesi has many crazy places, Toraja is from South Sulawesi province, and up in the North Sulawesi province they have crazy market that sells animals like snake bat cat dog to eat.

Hi Luke. I know that there are lots of buffaloes in the Northern Territory, and I was told that they were brought to Australia hundreds of years ago by trepang divers from Makassar. Nowadays, these buffaloes are killed to control their population. I wonder if Australia can export them to Toraja. It would be better than just killing them for that purpose or for fun. What do you think? 😄😇
