Somehow, imagination has left the world. People have to see exactly themselves physically to relate to the character. They can't pay attention to what a character is saying and doing to draw parallels to yourself or somebody in your life. Instead of "Gay? Gay!" "Brown? Brown!" "Blue? Blue!" Lol
"Expensive microphone"? Sounds like mic envy to me. It's pretty rich coming from people who work for multi-billion dollar media conglomerates. They're sitting in a downtown office building, sipping complementary wine from the cafeteria, while the company massage therapists works on their shoulders.. and they're seething with rage that some RUclipsr can spend a hundred bucks on a mic.
I disagree, why someone would spend on expensive mics while you can laundry money on multi-milllion dollar episodes that doesn't show where all that money went, Disney is the BEST
Bro jeckies death had NO impact😭there was no weight to it and no one gave a shit for her character. In fact not only do we like that she died but we hate the fact that she somehow was able to not only hold her ground but put the sith on the defensive. Such a joke of a show
I was shocked they had the stones to kill off a strong LGBTQ+ alien. Where are the critics calling out Lucasfilm for simulated violence against minorities? I'm half sure she'll be miraculously resurrected in the last episode...
It's not even about male values, it's about good vs evil for all people. SAM: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something. FRODO: What are we holding on to, Sam? SAM: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.
Yeah but Tolkien was born in an era where the people fought for something worth dying for. These modern hacks just see men as “the oppressor” even tho they(headland) was an enabler
"I am black and gay and a woman, aspects which have been historically persecuted ..." Key word: *historically.* Not anymore. Not for a very long time. So we don't CARE, Amandla. We just want good Star Wars. These activists don't seem to get that they annoy everyone into disliking them. We don't automatically dislike them. We don't dislike them for the reasons they pretend we dislike them. We're not bigots. We're just turned off by crazy people with victimhood complexes who disdain us and want to make all of our entertainment about them and their hang-ups.
The same thing always happens when a social movement achieves its goal. The people in the movement need to start making up new problems to keep the movement going. Otherwise, it would dissipate and they would have to go back to being regular people. And then they wouldnt feel special anymore. Theyre Don Quichote fighting windmills.
When you make entertainment synonymous with identity any criticism of it becomes outrageous. That's one of the biggest problems with modern entertainment media.
HAHAHAHAHA. NICE. Everyone know the Sky's are ruled by the patriarchy of the F-35 so we need to show how powerful an F-35 with tits is.....YASSSS YASSSS
Yep, and they not only preach on high from the media pulpit; but when they diss-track you, they throw their minge and measly biddies around in your face - or - they go on show wearing almost nothing and sexualizing themselves for the press and peers. As long as they do it, for their empowerment, it's fine. but the second it's done for the enjoyment of straight white men, in any media, it is "disgusting misogyny and blatant exploitation". What a farce, and they think we don't see through it. Dunno Hoes gonna hoe, but as long as they do it on their own terms, I suppose it's fine. I mean that's how they normalized only-fans.
Even her "music video" needed snapchat filters and autotuning ... too bad they didn't use that for the show. Anything would have been better than the wide-eyed, vapid stare and disinterested monotone.
They seem to think they can shame the public into tolerating their trash. The problem is, you cannot shame someone who holds you in contempt. Being shamed by the contemptible is an accolade, not a dressing-down.
When you surround yourself with those who won't tell you the truth, how do you find out other than by the public who you call names rather than listen to?
jup, that is where we are now... with 2 of the most blatant failed mystery box character reveils in movie history of Halbrand being Sauron and Smilo Ren being the Apothecary... don't know what they teach in writing classes nowadays, but it sure isn't about decent writings...

As a female Star Wars fan, I want the dangley bits. I want the men's story, because their stories are not about gender, it is about character, morals, goals. Female led and driven stories suck, it is bashing men, cringe Mary sues, like...does this director actually know what female Star Wars fans want?
That's what I've always wanted from Star Wars. Leia was just as tough other than physically as the other main characters but that doesn't mean I want wall to wall Leia and today's version would be like you describe anyway which this show is. The few men in it are disposable, always concede to the women or are stupid. Most women don't want to see that.
It’s the new fan base they think they are going to create out of the activist, feminist, pronoun concerned, LGBTQ+ crowd, who remain a minority. Star Wars is no longer for everyone. Apparently, Disney thinks if you are an existing fan of Star Wars it’s not for you, or if you are straight or heterosexual, then Disney Star Wars isn’t for you, either. Why can’t we just get back to a clever plot with well developed characters we care about that’s actually entertaining?!
She obviously doesn't have a clue. The creative team is a joke capable of only copying and stealing ideas, whilst telling each other how great their sh*t smells.
"Threatening to Boycott the film". The film obviously wasn't made for me so why would I waste $23 AUD on something that wasn't made for me by someone that openly admits they have no experience in making movies. Is this some weird attempt at reverse psychology by people who don't understand how reverse psychology works?
"Star Wars is a lot of things, but it is rarely sexy"...how is it possible to be so stupid to not know just how much of an effect the bikini slave costume had on pop culture?! I've seen other shows reference it! One key example, Supernatural, where Dean has to try and coach their lesbian friend on enticing some guard and when asking about if she has any tattoos she mentions she has one of Leia, in the slave costume, straddling a pair of dice. No $hit is the entire internet like "What?!" at that statement...
it is due to those on the other side not wanting to sexualize slavery and Leia in the gold bikini to them is "bad" due to it being a slave outfit and sexy
Han Solo and Leia were such a steamy pair and I don’t know how they can think otherwise, for the ladies there was plenty to ogle. Plus, as a girl I can safely say I didn’t watch Star Wars to appease my girly side, but to appease my boyish side as many female fans did.
Imagine going into a restaurant and ordering some food which turns out to be bland, undercooked, hot on the outside but ice cold on the inside etc. and it's not just your food, it's everyone's food but you can't tell the chef anything bc the chef is drowning out the voices until she clocks out. Despite that though the chef will yell at you for not liking the food from time to time. Also the entire food is actually frozen food and 99% of it comes out of the microwave while charging hundreds of dollars for it. Yeah, no idea why the restaurant isn't making a profit; it's like a murder mystery or something Idk
Star Wars Episode IV in 1977: Directed by George Lucas, a trained filmmaker who graduated from the prestigious film department at USC. Star Wars Episode X coming out in 2026: Directed by activist and documentarian Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy who said “I’m not a trained filmmaker.”
Oh yeah. Star Wars fans appreciated that "trained filmmaker" so much he finally sold everything due to them bitching about his work for decades. You guys are hilarious 🤷🏼♀️
@@fundhund62 That's not why George sold Star Wars! He has thoroughly explained that he would have put all his time and energy into making episodes 7 - 9 if he would have chosen to do that, and that it would have taken him at least 10 years. He was 69 years old at the time when he said that, and he didn't think that he had 10 years left to focus on filmmaking when he was newlywed and had a young daughter to raise. He wasn't even sure that he was going to make it to 80 years old, so he wanted to spend as much time as possible with his youngest child before passing. He would not have minded giving new talent advice on making the sequels, but instead the people at Disney and KK betrayed his stories, characters and ideas, and they took Star Wars in a direction that George would never have taken it in. George Lucas made SW for 12 year old boys (and girl tomboys), not for jaded feminists and people with a LGBTQ agenda!
@@truelove11.11 He has repeatedly said so. "Why would I make any more, when everybody yells at you what a terrible person you are? It's not much fun. And you can't experiment, you have to do it a certain way. I don't like that, I'm an experimental filmmaker. "

Student violins are quite affordable. They don't sound lovely, but they're definitely enough to learn to play on. Yes, performance -quality instruments can be extremely expensive, but they're not unobtainable. Lessons tend to add up, it's true. But all together, it's not exclusively a rich-mans instrument.
"Activist" has to be the most hilarious term to appear among the lunatic fringe. Those new moviegoers don't exist. If they did they'd be drowning out our criticisms. To say these people are delusional is an understatement.
Their new moviegoers are too busy with playing activists themselves, inventing new labels for themselves so they can look like they're special without any effort, or figuring out which of their pronouns are they gonna use tomorrow so they can freak out on a tiktok vid when someone gets it wrong...
old movie-goers where like: i just watched that movie, it was great and i will see it again with some friends in a few days... new movie-goers nowadays are like: oh, there is a new movie out? will maybe see it, when it drops in streaming, don't care to leave my home for that. what modern Hollywood doesn't get: we old movie-goers are still out there, waiting for good movies to hit the big screen. We want to go to the movies to ESCAPE our reality, not getting hit time and again by the same BS agendas of small vocal minorities, that still think, they are victims, when nobody outside there bubble agrees to their weird takes on life.
The only films and TV shows that are making money are those that are free of DEI. The evidence for that is becoming overwhelming. The DEI agenda is now infecting video games, with the same disastrous outcome.
I dunno, you kinda need a _connection_ first to feel something at a character's demise. Even generic annoying frat boys in horror movies that only exist to be added to a slasher villain's body count tend to have more character and personality.
From a business point of view, if you have an IP that has (well, had) such a huge audience like Star Wars does, wtf are you doing trying to “bring in new audiences”? What? NO. The audience built in is massive. You should have been doing everything you could to KEEP the audience you already had. Also, what experience does this activist “director” think she has that translates into a completely different and fictional universe? I’m guessing, like all activists before her, she’ll treat the Star Wars universe as if it’s Los Angeles. Fact is, their constant “patriarchy” complaining doesn’t fit in Star Wars. There’s no basis for their form of feminism and racism in the Star Wars universe. They have to inject it in to it where it never existed before.
If there's any truth to what the guy caught dropping Disney in it about not employing white guys also said, they believed what their marketers told them as Disparu noted, they could easily keep their OG SW audience and rake in a new one with woke making more money and guaranteeing its future. Sounds good 'on paper' but no research was done and no post mortems on the failures for why shows failed yet they kept going. Not all young people are woke either. Some have brains in their heads and reject it whilst the OG walked away in droves. There's no denying it with arse crawling articles anymore. Their accurate internal figures will say it all.
The idea of the "new audience" they spew to shareholders is that the current audience is already saturated, so they need to get new people from outside to promote growth... And shareholders lap it up because they want their investment to grow indefinitely, not realizing that's literally impossible.
They are too dumb to realise that the established audience had children themselves and would've introduced them to the Star Wars they love and would've grown a new audience organically, instead they have cut that money tree down to groom an audience that has no money and is too small to matter. Bold strategy, lets see how it pans out.
since 2000s at least, "critics" ESPECIALLY since dawn of internet reviews.. are a dime of dozen, of coourse.. but their ENTIRE critique is to find/make anything negative to cry about so they can stand out and get attention. "A hot baddie" the guy looks like a hobo. In the right light, with a better hairstyle, I could maybe see why someone might consider him attractive, but in the show, no.
To quote a remark I once heard at another instance of a painfully obvious twist: "the only reason people didn't call it is because we were giving the writers an _ounce_ of credit."
So, the only 4 white guys in the ENTIRE SHOW - 2 criminals who are killed - a jedi with 1 sentence who ends himself for no reason - a guy in a suit with no lines The racism and hate is REAL!!!!

That's a tough question because most people agree that rich people shouldn't tell others (especially those with much less money) what they should think, what they should believe, or how they should live their lives, but at the same time so many people who are not rich think they have the right to tell rich people how to spend their money. Neither is better than the other. Yes, everyone has the right to their opinion and has the right to speak their mind, but there comes a point where people need to stop sticking their noses in other peoples' business and stop judging them because they don't think or behave the way you want them to. That goes for everyone.

George Lucas has said himself that he initially made Star Wars to entertain 12 year old boys (and with that 12 year old girl tomboys), and now the women who have taken over wants to entertain a different demographic. They are not catering to the original fan base that Lucas catered to, so why are they surprised that they are loosing that fan base as they are aiming to cater to a different fan base? They should be criticizing the women and the LGBTQ people who are not watching their projects. It is insane of them to criticize the original fan base that they are no longer catering to!
Lucas even made that movie targeted at 12 year old boys so well that it also attracted the adult male demographic, because a good story that kids can understand is still a good story for anyone who isnt a kid anymore. And they wanted to throw that all away because the 12 year old boy demographic is male, and majority hwite, and all hwite males are inherently evil from birth.

Wait a minute, they are actually making another ray movie?! And here I though they scrapped it after the trash series we call the acolyte. You know what who am I kidding Disney will never learn anything, well until the audience score hit a single digit.
I actually think it will take all of Disney's profits to be firmly in the negatives for them to consider changing because anything they do make profit on will just go towards funding more garbage.
Disney is likely getting forced into pushing these out because people higher up on the food chain somehow have the leverage to force them to. It's not just Disney who has this problem, notice how every major 'piece' of media, every major game, movie, show, etc, from every major company is having this same treatment done to them? Someone or some people are pulling the strings for this to happen, people who don't care about money, but about the Message. We can only hope they're removed of their influence somehow. I can't believe that I'm saying all this, years ago I would've never dreamed of saying anything like this, a conspiracy theory about why our tv is crap.... yet here I am, genuinely meaning it.
I will never understand the obsession with claiming things having terrible reviews is "review bombing". Think about it for a second. What these people are actually trying to say is that what they claim to be a tiny minority of haters is making multiple accounts to leave bad reviews & thus bring the review score down. If that were true then all they would need to do to make review bombing not work is have the people who did like the product leave good reviews. If so many more people loved that show as these people always claim, then the simple act of asking the fans to leave a review would give the positive score such an overwhelming majority that no amount of fake profiles downvoting could ever make the score come down in any kind of meaningful manner. So where are all the "fans"? If it's truly just a minority of haters leaving bad reviews where are all the fans to counteract them? Could it be that these fans don't fucking exist? Thought so.
The best part about it is that the people posting negative reviews are real people and the positive user reviews on rottentomatoes and imdb are mostly bots or people in Indian clickfarms paid by the movie companies to leave positive reviews. Just read through the positive reviews for any random piece of mainstream hollywood content. They all use the same sentence structure and keywords. They are doing the opposite of review bombing and then attempt to gaslight the real people by saying we are review bombing.
Evil begets evil. Hail Hydra!!! I mean Disney. Let's be honest... There was so much scissoring in the first four episodes (that were obviously cut for final release) that they were too tired to use it for the hair.
For all their courting of a new audience it's just been bomb after bomb and you'd think they'd realize maybe they should listen to what the fans want, because when a franchise does well it will naturally attract new fans.
I don’t know which is sadder: that Rue from The Hunger Games turned out to be such a hypocritical & vile adult…..or that Laura/X-23 from Logan took a role that’s an exponential step down. ….and her defining naivety.
Acolyte biggest disappointment is the waste of work their sountrack staff have done, seriously star wars needs a overal revamp of people that know the lore and can write "meaningful" scripts where it isn't a shit fest of terrible executions and lack of an understanding. How the hell do you have episode 4 just be "nonsense talking and no meaning until they introduced the sith".
I really think The Acolyte's script was generated by an AI and then "proofread" by a complete idiot. Character motivations don't make sense, scenes don't flow together and half the lines in the show are just exposition dumps.
Evil can't create something new and respected franchise and characters and past and lore. They only ruin and corrupt and disrespect franchise and characters and past and lore.
It's amazing that someone "not a trained film maker" is making films. That's crazy. In any other field, no-one would trust billions of their money to someone not trained in it.
Your video is so spot on that Disney and Star Wars isn't getting another dime of my money. Lawyers, Exec's, and activists gave them a voice and look what they did with it! Now everything they touch turns to dust. I never thought I would see the day when a small group of idiots was given the power to torch billions of dollars in a short period of time.
What I love about the Acolyte is that it has a bunch of female characters but the 2 most interesting ones that have any depth and are competently acted are male (sith guy and squid game jedi). Even in a tv series that makes a ton of risks like the Acolyte they are scared or unable of writing a deep or flawed or vulnerable female character.
I haven't heard the entire song Amandla Stenberg released. But, based on the amount of auto tune and voice distortion she is using, I suspect her actual singing ability is on par with the level of her acting in The Acolyte.

Somehow, imagination has left the world. People have to see exactly themselves physically to relate to the character. They can't pay attention to what a character is saying and doing to draw parallels to yourself or somebody in your life. Instead of "Gay? Gay!" "Brown? Brown!" "Blue? Blue!" Lol
Can't relate to this 2D animated character because I'm three dimensional. Everything is so surface level nowadays.
Goes back to the "it's not enough that I have it all, I'm mad that someone else has nice stuff too, even if mine is much nicer".
"Guv goal is to keep all these people POOR!!! Why are they failing, how can they afford microphones?!"
I disagree, why someone would spend on expensive mics while you can laundry money on multi-milllion dollar episodes that doesn't show where all that money went, Disney is the BEST

More emotion in a single paragraph by a master than in an entire season of episodes written by the modern hacks.

Han Solo and Leia were such a steamy pair and I don’t know how they can think otherwise, for the ladies there was plenty to ogle. Plus, as a girl I can safely say I didn’t watch Star Wars to appease my girly side, but to appease my boyish side as many female fans did.

Thought so.
Yeah the math doesn add up.
Also canon changes are generally easily accepted when they're well explained and make sense.

No Star Wars needs to be left to die
All episodes so far have nonsensical talking and no story. Only an obvious mystery villain.
I really think The Acolyte's script was generated by an AI and then "proofread" by a complete idiot. Character motivations don't make sense, scenes don't flow together and half the lines in the show are just exposition dumps.
"I'm attracted to amoral people. That's why I covered up for Harvey for four years."
This
THERES THE SONG I WANT!! WHATS IT CALLED? "Cry Wolf Cry Wolf" I can't find it, i had it stuck in my head all week.
Ding ding, the meritocracy is gone!
Yord needed a chiropractor but could only find a Smylopractor. Jeckie was sweating, so Smylo helped to air her out with holes.
So she peaked in Logan. Wasn't she... Eleven?
2:38 "Guided by my activism..." Spare me, you're no activist. If you are whats considered an 'activist' than I'm Gandhi.
I haven't heard the entire song Amandla Stenberg released. But, based on the amount of auto tune and voice distortion she is using, I suspect her actual singing ability is on par with the level of her acting in The Acolyte.
Grew up rich, and it is still rich. Yeah she was totally persecuted 😂
"Jedi of Waverly Place"
She really said BLACK AND GAY AND A WOMEN
🤦🏽 i think these groups need better reps
I can't understand why they can't keep their mouths shut. I could care less what they are, or who they married, or who their parents were, or their religious affiliations. Just put out a good product! These, "Adult Pretenders" being dispatched, like Lackey Employees, to defend the bad product. You cannot make this stuff up.
I wish all critique by journalists would be as specific and precise. Speedy. And thoroughly entertaining. Much better than the products. Thanks again.
0:24 I guess that explains how she got the role for Logan.
Gosh, they really do reach new levels of insanity…
“To shape a story that…”
Me: “is not hers to begin with”
And I still keep looking forward to these videos. But only cuz I enjoy the commentary every time.😆
She claimed "to speak for those whose voices are drowned" and now, she is hired by big cooperate "to drowning out other voices". What a beautiful story =))
I was watching a different reviewer who said that The Acolyte is a show made for 10 years old, promoted and reviewed as if it was a family show for everyone.
0:48 Wait.... _JASON_ was in The Acolyte?! This really _is_ the Bad Place!!
7:55 Disney tells all directors to ignore fan criticism. It's why they get away with this crap.
10:17 - The kind of people who rate a story's quality on how high the character death count is never grew out of being 14 years old.
Fun fact the fate franchise Interpretation of Jeanne d'Arc is more beloved then any character from the acolyte
She's a sword waifu. That's kinda what the entire franchise is all about.
Also she's not just Saber with a different outfit, which is always a plus.
@@EvilDoresh agreed
Tragic death ? I smiled. And she is sooo oblivious I smiled again.
Manny Jacinto is a fine actor that got caught in the Disney web. Hope that he finds a new agent.
You mean Asian Ezra Miller?
@@perseusjoppa426 Sadly, yes. He has acted in some great movies. I feel bad for him.
"I don't know if I'll ever top this role"
No you mean your so embrassed that your career is going to over. You won't have a choice. Ever heard of Daisy Ridley? .. Me either.
I liked Dafne Keen in Logan but her appearance in this show and how she sides with Amandla Stenberg and Leslye over this shite has really disappointed me
Unfortunately, I reckon her hands are tied here. She can't openly criticize her co-workers/boss, and "silence is violence"
@@the_absurd_hero she doesn't have to actively support her co-stars either by double posting on their social media celebrating Wokelyte, her own words, as a thing to be proud of
It's not the criticism they should be worried about, it's apathy and indifference that is the real problem. The majority aren't saying a damn thing about Star Wars. They don't care anymore, and that will be the death of it.
The majority know about it. My wife who doesn’t care about any syfi heard new Star Wars and asked if the was the gay witches so the wider population has heard about this train wreck.
I think we should call it "The New Audience Fallacy", that there are enough people who haven't seen something that you can attract to make up for the current number of actual fans.
100 years from now people will be talking about all of the shows and movies that have come out in the last 10 years as the Golden age of comedy😅
On the contrary i doubt this decade will be remembered at all
More like the Dark Age of film and television and the Golden Age of youtube reviewers mocking the failures of disney.
"I am not a trained actor; I am an activist."
I have actually faced death on two separate occasions. It's not romantic or poetic. Everything disappears save only what must be done to survive.
No, no, no, the whole point of a twist is that the audience *doesn't* see it coming! What separates a good and bad twist is how obvious it is on a *second* watching. A good twist gives you all the foreshadowing to have seen it coming, but you still missed it.
