I'm the exception then - only fighting games before this I played were Smash and ARMS. I think I might have to rewatch this a few times while practicing to fully understand everything, but having even the really basic stuff laid out is certainly very helpful!

IB doesn't make attacks air-blockable. Only FD does. However, it is possible that the dummy is doing both. I think that's still possible in this game, by inputting IB while holding two buttons. If it is, then it would let you block air-unblockable attacks, but would otherwise be very similar to regular blocking since FD and IB do opposite things to your blockstun. I can't find anything about "IFD" in the wiki, though.

i understand how to Block, but i swear it almost Never works. it might be Because i play on the vita version, or maybe im Just that Bad, but ive only been able to Block enemy attacks when the game Feels like it. is there any other input i need to correctly block?? or is it specific timing??
I highly recommend NOT playing on a handheld device. Play on a console or PC - most people play on Steam - and plug in your router via an ethernet cable. This will reduce the amount of latency between you and your opponent, causing your inputs to register faster and/or for the opponent's animations to display more sharply. If that is not your issue, or if you exclusively play offline, then there are a few things that could be contributing to your inability to block. It could be a malfunction with your directional buttons. It could be delayed inputs because of the Vita's hardware limitations. You should also know that certain attacks must be blocked a certain way. "Low" attacks must be blocked while crouching, and "Overhead" attacks must be blocked while standing. A few attacks cannot be blocked, namely throws and a few rare unblockables. While jumping, you can't block any striking attacks the opponent does from the ground, unless you use Faultless Defense. You also cannot block while attacking; your character must be in a neutral position. Blocking does not require ANY timing. You just hold a direction, and your character will automatically block when attacked, if possible. Slashback and Instant Block require timing, but just regular blocking and Faultless Defense do not.

Training mode is useless if you don't know why you're there. So have a purpose, and then think of how to fulfill that purpose. Training mode exists to make fulfilling certain purposes more easily.

It's $3 on Instant Gaming right now, but out of stock, so you'll have to wait, or buy it directly through steam for $15, or wait for a sale, or find another distributor... or just play the game anyway, and learn through TRIAL BY FIRE.
