Anytime you come across a VFD that has incoming power but doesn’t run at all in any position it’s always a safety that’s open. Fire, high static switch, freeze protection, usually they are tied together, just got isolate which safety it is. Good videos man.
I dont know what you are charging this hotel, its probably not near enough, to be correcting everybody else's shade tree repairs. You the man JMT!
Always finding something new. Fire alarm company not only left this unit tripped but ALL of the base units were down. Can't make this stuff up 😂 Haha thank you! 🙏🔧⚡️
Excellent investigative and well explained video !!! Great job as always JMT.
Thank you very much!! 🙏🔧⚡️
That water leak is great content...as long as I'm here and not there. lol
Haha I hear that! As soon as there's a day that is not so cold, the building will attempt to shut that water down and we will make the repair. Not looking forward to that. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
The site that keeps on giving 😂 nice one JMT 💯💯💯
Oh yes! 😂 Thank you!🔧⚡️
Nothing like falling in quicksand. Lol. I love when you get whole story.
I always like who, what where ,when in diagnostic
Haha I hear that. The fire alarm company not only left this unit off but ALL of the base units were shut down. The building didn't even know they were doing these tests until they all left. Somehow forgot to turn the alarms off and reset the units. Always something interesting 😂
Haven’t watched full video yet only a few minutes in, but the device with the green dot is a CT that shows status for our controls. I mainly do Alerton controls but my company also does delta and distech. Nice to see some of our controls in the field lol. I love how everyone says “its a controls issue” when 9/10 it isn’t🤣🤣
Good videos! I really like the way you methodically walk through and describe your diagnosis process.
15:40 man I thought this type of stuff only happens to me in the field. I happy to see other tech have mysteries too
You are very knowledgeable in systems great video
Hello. I watch your videos. I myself serviced the same York and Carrier installations in Manhattan. I am currently working as a mechanic in a car service center. but this season I want to return to hvac. I'm buying an expensive tool for hvac repair.
Hello, that's very cool! Sounds like a good plan. Thank you for watching🙏🔧⚡️
Coaching. SOUNDS LIKE YOU GIT WORK MY GUY
Definitely got work over here. It's not a glamorous place but that's why the service calls keep rolling in 👍 Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
Is this that unit that has a bad water leak that you fixed? Your Bad ass tech bro!! Keep those videos coming!
It is! We only made the temporary repair because they couldn't shut down the water. Some valves are leaking by. The leak got a lot worse as you can see 😂 Thank you & thanks for watching! I will be making the true repair on this in the near future when it's not so cold out so they can turn the heat off. 🙏🔧⚡️
That's definitely not a local 94 ran building lol horrible maintenance. Good job tho Jumper man !!
It is not haha they definitely need better maintenance here. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
One would think if the so called building engineer gave a crap about the forever water leak his boys would install a larger pan or some kind of diverter. We have the same issues at our accounts, to busy in the maintenance shop doing nothing.
I hear that. I installed that pan when they couldn't shut the water down so we can make the repair. Leak ended up getting a lot worse and it is what it is at this point. A larger pan would definitely help. That room is getting destroyed as we speak. Not looking forward to making that repair. Thanks for watching!
What kind of chiller is it connected to?
The drive is an ABB one...they probably took it out because it was giving them too much trouble...either that or it just died and they didn't bother to replace it.
That yellow and blue are normally closed contacts on an RIB. Yellow is common to blue/ closed and orange/ open set on the ones I install. Should be listed on the RIB it’s left. That solid green on the fire alarm normally means an issue on the controls safety circuit fire alarm shutdown. Blinking means operating normal condition. When you put a vfd in bypass and hand and it does nothing the safety circuit is broken. High static fire alarm freeze protection. Another thing on fire alarm contacts is they can be normally open or closed. Just did 7 rtus and the system there shutdown on closed contacts. Only way to see if look at the fire alarm module and see where the safety for the equipment is landed on.
😱🤯 great video & content JMT ⭐️
Thank you!! 🙏🔧⚡️
There is usually a small abb disconnect inside the small enclosure directly underneath the VFD. Sometimes they burn up or are off. Easiest thing to do would be to take the cover off the VFD and check the input voltage. If there’s no voltage check the small disconnect inside the enclosure below. More then likely the drive failed long before you were there and they have been running in bypass for awhile. If you have input voltage to the VFD then either the display is bad of the VFD is bad.
Hi Jumper Man
I have a question, the FCU need Outside air?
Thank you for your help.
That place looks like my job where I work holy hell.
Fun times 😂 Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
JMT TO THE RESCUE WELL DONE.
Reporting for duty! Haha thank you! 🔧⚡️
I learn more from you than trade school
Nice work Jumper man.
Thank you very much! 🙏🔧⚡️
I know you’re not looking forward to do that repair but I think your followers are, I know I am.
had the Fire detectors trick me one twice w/ an open run circuit esp after they just left the site & had a few leaks develop also ..iam to big to crawl in on that leak location O boy Have Fun & also had build maintenance could NOT find a cut off on hi rise leakin bad .on 9 th floor ..its crazy
Soooo did you ever fix the wire that made a clicking noise when you moved it?
Great Video. Good Job and Nice Work. Thank you for sharing. Is this Building Hvac unit for Hotel ?
Thank you! Yes, this is one of their large fan coil units serving the main spaces of the hotel. Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you🙏👍🔧⚡️
Great video like always 🫡 keep them coming
Always A Great Thing
Thank you! 🔧⚡️
As soon as you showed the fire modules I saw this issue. His "guys" will not fix that fan they just leave it in bypass and it runs 24/7
good show ...
Thank you! Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
You said it was 18 degrees, go back and check you're freeze limits, it's a safety in series that cuts unit on freeze limits, door switch, fire, ect ... Anything in that safety cuts, it cuts the circuit and opens the preheat valve. Putting it in hand bypasses the safety and at 27 degrees you will freeze your chilled water coil FAST and have yourself a flood😮. Just push the whie button on the gray box that's connected to the temp probe Infront of the chilled water coil. It will probably trip a few times because as soon as it resets the preheat valve will close to go back to set point, cold air rushes in and puts the probe under 38 degrees, trips, repeats. You can drop the OA damper (bypass the end switch on the OA damper temporarily) then open the OA slowly and let the preheat catch back up (man I really don't make enough). Better then 90% this is your issue 😊
P.s., the fire trip is in series so it would show as dead. These are crazy tricky systems and you really do a great job!
Soon as i saw the green light on that alarm panel i thought thats what is holding it off
Nice. I thought the opposite honestly. Need to keep an eye out for that stuff from now on. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
@@JumpermanTech soon as I saw all the rest of the fire panels blinking and the one connected to the air handler was solid it told me that the fire panel is in alarm
@@joshuabest100 same here...i was talking to my phone like....theres the problem......noooo...where you going homie....you found the issue with the fan. The green light is the source of confusion....people expect a red light or something other than green
We fix the leaks at my work as soon as it’s not busy.
Nice. As soon as it's not so cold out, they will attempt to shut the water down. They tried before but some valves weren't holding so we couldn't make the repair. At this point, it's really bad. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
😻💚💜💚
💜🔧⚡️
Very nice
Thank you very much! Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
FlexTape and run.
And never come back 😂
So actually what was the problem with the unit please elaborate...
I would wash my hand of that location
I wash my hands then go right back for more. Many service calls and they pay their bills. Huge accumulation of work for the years or neglect and messy work lol thanks for watching & stay tuned for new videos every week! 🔧⚡️
I dint think you won the game lol too much time left on the clock 😂
Owner not wanting to spend money
A bit of that mixed in with that they tried shutting the water down twice but some valves aren't holding. They will attempt again when the weather isn't so cold as thats the hot water to supply heat for many units. Thanks for watching!
That is code violation in any book
What exactly is code violation?
Please tell me this wasn’t a local 68 site lol
Definitely not 😂 Let's the service calls keep on callin' 👍 Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
@@JumpermanTech you are the best HVAC page on RUclips!
@brians9875 I really appreciate you saying that! 🙏 I'm trying my best at work and at making videos. Have a great day and be safe 🔧⚡️
So it was a reset.
Yes, reset of the fire alarm panel. They did a test earlier and left all the hvac units off 😂 Thanks for watching & stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
Thanks for keeping it real.
🤣
Always running into a unique situation 😂
