Omg. You have to do it live. He spits fire and blood. Omg you guys need to go live.
It's a terrific moment to witness live. They put on a show that stays with you forever.
Sadly, once they've done a song, they won't do another version / live version of a song. For them it's one and done and move on to next song.
They are the ONLY reactors that won't do other video version reactions of the same song.
Need the video
This also sounds slower than the video and how they do it live.
Yes!!!! The studio version is cool but live is actually way better
Gene sings about half of every album and you have heard him before on I Love it Loud and Rock and Roll All Nite. Some other Gene on vocals songs to give a try are Gold Gin, Deuce, Calling Dr. Love, Christine Sixteen, this is classic KISS. Now in the 80s you have War Machine, Not For the Innocent, Young and Wasted, Gene took a lesser role here because he was making movies. But in the 90s he was back with Unholy and Domino, which are probably his best vocals ever. There is one other song, that was never a hit, called Plaster Caster. This song epitomizes KISS in the 70s.
Not for the Innocent
Also "Deuce" from Alive! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Cold Gin! One of my faves!
Domino is one of his best during the no makeup period
Also a favorite of mine he sings is “goin blind” …
Gene usually did his bass solo with drooling blood before this song in concert. He was hooked to a harness that lifted him to a platform above the stage.Jay & Amber ya'll might have said you are both teachers,When Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley were forming KISS,Gene worked as a 6th grade teacher in Spanish Harlem for a short time
Yes, they should watch a live version where Gene does his thing.
Yup...seen em a dozen times probably over the years since '77...Once Gene started his bass solo, you knew what was comin. 100,000 Years fading into his solo, then God of Thunder.
Live live live version ... please.
I remember an interview he did about the makeup. He was asked why they were appealing to kids when they had no shortage of fans. His reply was they wanted fans 40 years from now. The interview was back in the 80's. Gene knew a.thing or two.
@@jefflast9489😮
You already reacted to a KISS sing with Gene being the lead singer, "I love it Loud". You guys loved it too! 😃
They have already reacted to it. Just check it out
@@scottvance7520That’s what he said
@@scottvance7520 What just happened?
Okay, here’s a teacher story for you two. I was in high school when this album was released. I had an English teacher that I was convinced never actually completely read our assignments. I decided I would test this theory by writing the “God Of Thunder” lyrics in the middle of my essay. Sure enough, I received an A on the essay with no mention of the lyrics from the teacher 😂
KISS "Calling Dr. Love"...Nuff Said.
Nothing you can "duo"🤣
I have that live double album KISS II..... Awesome!!!
@@tb6791 Live version ends with : cuz I'm the docterrerer of Lo-ah ah ah ah ve
Rock and Roll Over!
I have always really liked this song. It is essentially Gene's theme song.
You should check out it's "unofficial sequel" called "Almost Human".
Paul Stanley actually wrote "God of Thunder" but Gene wrote "Almost Human" (which has a great bassline)
ALIVE II version is great. The live version got me into KISS as a kid with the song, the drum solo, then back into the song. Heeeeavvvy!!!
I saw KISS in concert. Gene was hooked to wires and they flew him to catwalks at the top of the arena. He picked up his bass and played GOD OF THUNDER.
This song was actually written by Paul Stanley. The demo of the song is kind of disco-like. Gene took it in a more sludgy direction. And everyone is right, you need to react to KISS live. Every song, every time.
The bass and drum line sounds just like a Nazareth song, Kentucky Fried Blues.😮
The demo also has Paul singing it, and much faster.
Gene sings a lot of songs. You definitely need to check out Unholy from the Revenge album
Yeah, Revenge is my 2nd favorite album of theirs. " domino" was the best thing they had written in 10 years
yes. I hope they do
omg they so need to hear unholy....the video kicks you in the ass
I came here to say this. Yes, Jay will lose it even more if they react to Unholy.
I came here to recommend Unholy too! My top 5 Gene songs are God of Thunder, Unholy, Domino, I Love It Loud, and Within.
As a kid, this was so dangerous… (and so attractive!) We were smiling all the way! I feel for all the kids that only had Britney Spears. This was the thing. Happy to have grown up when I did!
Yeah I was a kid in the seventies too, we had the best of everything it seems
"all the kids who only had Britney Spears"? Come on, dude. That's like saying people who grew up in the '70s "only had Donna Summer" to listen to.
There's always good music out there, for kids who want to look beyond what's being played on Pop/Top 40 radio stations, like we did.
I absolutely loved kiss as a young boy growing up in Australia, when I was about 10 I entered a radio station and won a vynl copy of one of there albums and I was loving it. The funny thing is tomorrow they are playing at our Australian rules football grand final (which is our equivalent to your super bowl)as half time and pre game entertainment !
Jay if you want to hear the best Gene Simmons song then you guys have to do " Unholy". One of their best
and its video
A 60's MUST HEAR classic,, Smith "Baby It's You"
The great thing about this song is that Paul Stanley wrote it, and producer Bob Ezrin (whose kids are all over this track) suggested strongly that Simmons should sing it.
Wow, back in the 70s Kiss split the lead vocals between all 4 guys, Gene probably had the most hits in the 70s. Rock and Roll all night, Calling Dr. Love, Christine Sixteen, Deuce, Cold Gin, Parasite, all big Gene songs.
And Strutter, Do You alive Me, Detroit Rock City, Love Gun, I was Made For Loving You, Sure Know Something, I want You are from the 70’s and all sing by Paul😂
Cold Gin and Parasite ere written by Ace but he gave them to Gene to sing.
And yet, their best selling, and best charting, single was "Beth", sung by Peter Criss.
@michaelnerychel6727 They purposely did that as they wanted to be like the Beatles. All 4 guys in both bands sing and play instruments. They're the only 2 bands where all 4 members have a song in the Top 40. KISS wont let anybody join them on stage like a special guest because the Beatles never did. Nobody joined the Beatles on stage for a song or 2. This is all explained in Kiss and Sell, or KISS: Behind the Mask. I forget which book.
This was the very first album I bought with my own money. (yes I'm old). The cover art sold me but the music made me a fan. This is my favorite song on the album. Thanks for the memories, love you guys.
Mine too!
A classic top 40 you need to do is "Hard Luck Woman." Very popular. Maybe do a few from Gene's solo album. "Radioactive" and "Livin' In Sin" are two of my favs from his album. Paul's solo album is pretty great, too.
To me Ace's solo album is the best out of all of them. There isn't a bad song on it.
This song is even more Killer live, with Gene often in a high wire act and the extra oomph of a live performance. There is also an all star performance at an awards show on YT with Rob Zombie, Scott Ian & Ace Frehley amongst others doing a total banger of a version. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
I haven't listened to KISS in a lot of years (I'm not 16 anymore), but at one time I was a pretty big fan. That being said, I got to see them live back in 1977 on the Love Gun tour (Cheap Trick opened for them), and it is still the best live show I've ever been to!!!
I love Cheap Trick. I missed that tour
There are many fan favorites that Gene sang! Fun fact..Paul Stanley wrote this song and did not want to give it up to Gene but, producer Bob Ezrin was adamant that Gene should sing this because it fit his image to a T. Destroyer was the album that catapulted them to international stardom. Here are some great Gene sung KISS songs some which you have already covered:
"Rock And Roll All Night"
"I Love It Loud"
"Deuce" - Do the KISS ALIVE version..make sure you do the introduction before it too, because it's iconic with KISS fans!
"Parasite" - Hotter Than Hell album or KISS ALIVE both versions smoke!
"She" - Do the KISS ALIVE version
"Domino" - from the Revenge album it's badass
"Dr. Love" - from the Rock And Roll Over album... it was a hit!
"Watching You" - Do the KISS ALIVE version it's badass too!
"Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll" on KISS Alive or studio version
"Love Em Leave Em" - from the Rock And Roll Over album
unholy from revenge is another great gene song
How do you not include War Machine and Not For the Innocent? KISS Rules!!
Was just about to say this. Figured I'd scroll first in case someone beat me to it. Well done!
I'd do "Paralyzed" from Revenge too. Also, "Journey of 1,000 Years" from Psycho Circus is completely different but amazing.
Ladies Room.
If you're going to react to "God of Thunder", you have to do it too a live version!! I don't want to tell you why but, you'd thank me afterwards!
ALIVE II version is great. The live version got me into KISS as a kid with the song, the drum solo, then back into the song. Heeeeavvvy!!!
Most of KISS songs are better live than studio!!!!!
YES! WITH the solo before it!
Paul Stanley wrote this song, especially for Gene. But y'all have got to watch the live performance.
Actually, Paul sang the song on an earlier version. It has a faster tempo and on the chorus the backup singing is sang much higher.
@@bobfields1711 I didn't know that. Cool!
It was the producer Bob Ezrin who told Paul to give the song to Gene to sing.
@@barrycollier7451 just search God of Thunder demo on RUclips and you can hear it
@@bobfields1711That was the demo.
Great reaction as always!
Y'all definitely need to check out a live version, I recommend the KISS Alive II one.....and then check out the VH1 Honors video of this song performed by an unbelievable supergroup.....Rob Zombie, Scott Ian, Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke, Slash and Ace Frehley!!!! You won't be disappointed!!!!
Check out Gene's vocal in, "Unholy"!!
This is the reason I like this particular album so much - it covers so much territory. As heavy as this is, " beth" is also on here, as well as " great expectstions". Personal faves are " flaming youth " and " do you love me"
thank producer Bob Ezrin. he runs the show on his albums. from several classic Alice Cooper albums to Pink Floyd The Wall (4 years after Destroyer), Aerosmith Get Your Wings, and more. He crafted and orchestrated the sound of Destroyer. Later on produced Kiss albums Music from The Elder and Revenge.
Great production by Ezrin here
@@JohnnyMegabyteCanadahave you listened to the nee Cooper album. I was excited because Bob produced it but it fell flat for me.
This is probably the most "mature" reaction to this song! If you think of it, it is "laughable" for the reasons they stated, the whole vibe Gene gave here; still, it was fabulous for us kids and teens in the 70's, yes, you HAD to be there to "get it"!🤘🏻
The Romantics "What I Like About You" (Official Music Video A MUST!!)
Great reaction. Gene sang on several Kiss songs. Check out Domino, Nothing to lose, Christine Sixteen, Unholy…All great Gene lead vocal songs
KISS’ album The Elder will show you a side of them you’d never imagine. Enjoy! Great reaction 🤘🏻🖖🏻
Gene sings a lot of their songs. Most of their early albums split lead vocals between Gene and Paul. Leans a little towards Paul. They would usually throw a few songs in that ace and peter sang too.
Next Kiss reactions should be: Sure Know Something and Black Diamond, God Gave Rock n Roll.
There is a way you can play this from a speaker on the front lawn without getting in trouble. Just do it on Halloween. 🤣🎃🎃
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Shout It Out Loud"!!
The Flaming Lips "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots" & "Do You Realize"
Gotta do a live version.
You want to get blown away.....listen to Gene sing, When You Wish Upon a Star.....he has a great voice, great harmonies with KISS🤘🤘❤️
All the members of KISS sang lead depending on the song. Yes, Paul and Gene carried the heavy load of the lead vocals. Then you have Ace doing "Shock me" and Peter doing "Nothin to lose". All legit KISS songs they do live.
Now you have to react to When You Wish Upon A Star from Gene's solo album released in 1979. Destroyer is my favorite KISS album and God of Thunder is one of the best tracks. It's amazing in concert. I saw KISS in 1979 and in 1984. They are just incredible.
"Unholy" is a good song by older KISS with Gene singing. I think you'd like that one.
I like KISS, but to say I love them is a stretch. That being said, if I could go back in time to see a band in concert, they’d be at the top. There is no other band that goes as far as they do for their audience. For that reason alone, I’ve got mad respect for them.
Agreed. Their music isn't the best, but they put on a hell of a show. Saw them on the Destroyer tour (my first concert!) and it was insane fun.
I consider myself lucky to have gotten to see them on the reunion tour in 96’ with Ace and Peter
Agreed, they really should've reacted to a live performance of this song, especially where Gene gets hoisted into the rigging
@@timcook6566Me too, I was too young to have seen them in the 70s, the Reunion Tour was great.
As much as this IS Gene's signature song. He DIDN'T write it. Paul Stanley wrote it. When he brought it to the studio, the producer thought it would be better if Gene sang it. Now it is THE song Gene is known for.
This needs to be seen live.
Paul Stanley wrote it. You heard Bob Ezrin's production values. I'm glad you started with the studio version because it's slower and darker. But like everybody is suggesting, check out a live version. Pure Gene.
If you love Gene on vocals, and their more heavier songs, you must listen to their early 90’s song “UNHOLY” off their 1992 album Revenge. It’s one of their heaviest and more sinister sounding tracks. When it came out I couldn’t believe it was them. Plus it came out as grunge was becoming huge, so hearing them having this heavier sound to kick off the 90’s with (while countering the popular grunge music of the time) was badass! UNHOLY, Rob ya won’t regret it 🤘🏻
you guys have to check out their song, "unholy" Gene lead sings on that song and it's absolutely incredible
KISS - Tears Are Falling
Ratt - Lay It Down
The Scorpions - Rock You Like A Hurricane
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Great song, you have reacted to 2 songs that Gene sings on already. On a usual KISS album back then, Paul and Gene would have almost an even split of songs, mixed in with Peter. Then with Love Gun, Ace got over his shyness and he started to contribute with vocals also. When KISS started, Gene said they wanted to be a heavier version of The Beatles, everyone sings and everyone plays.
You need to see a live version of God of thunder you won't regret it
Now check out their drummer singing Black Diamond from their live album Alive. All four members sang lead, and Peter Criss had a great rock voice.
and sang Beth and Hard Luck Woman
This is Gene's signature song! The little kids you here in the song are actually the producers kids running around the studio that accidentally got caught on tape and they decided to leave them in. This song was actually used as the opening song to rob zombies version of Halloween.
Kiss-I Still Love You ruclips.net/video/B4X4Z4Y6B4s/видео.htmlsi=7L1CGQI1_LwHbpOB
His voice is hard and masculine this was the perfect song to pick!
I'm not sure if you guys reacted to it but Gene is actually the lead vocalist on their most well known hit Rock and Roll All Nite. You guys have also reacted to I Love It Loud, which he was also the lead on. But yeah, Gene leads on a ton of their songs. I'd recommend Parasite, Charisma, Calling Dr Love, and War Machine if you want some more great Gene songs. Also I think you guys would love Shout It Out Loud. Paul and Gene are co-lead vocalists on that one
Awesome pick guys! He spits blood during this performance live.
The live performance is amazing if you ever get a chance to see them before they stop touring. I’ve seen Kiss twice, once without makeup and once with makeup. The stage show is really over the top.
Finally! Been begging for this one! Well done folks!
Kiss, heavily influenced by Slade…Paul and Gene’s words, now ya gotta react to them. Cum on feel the Noize or Take me Bak ‘Ome
With you 💯 Slade rocks,👍🤘🔥🔥🔥
Love Kiss, but the live version is unreal. Just like the live version of "Words Darker Than Their Wings" by Alter Bridge. I don't know why you guys won't react to their music.
Yes, here're the men again! Gene actually sings lead on a number of KISS songs, most all of them with a dark, slightly "demonic" theme. OMG, I love this band! Thanks for your reaction.
I highly recommend checking out the live concert version of this song.
My favorite Kiss tune, tied with I Love it Loud. Both Simmons on vocals.
OMG!!!! I was out of the loop the last few days and am playing catch up today. Jay, I'm loving Gene just like you and Amber is literally making laugh out loud with her facial expressions and flexing! LOL LOL LOL Thank u very much for the great music and the belly laugh!!! Watching your reactions is always one of the highlights of my day!
Omg this brings back memories! Saw Kiss in mid 90’s with a friend. Nosebleed tickets. Before the show, we were walking around and a security guard came up to us out of nowhere and asked if we wanted front row tickets. Ummm YES!! When Gene Simmons sang this song he was in some kind of cage thing and was directly above us. He had the fake blood coming out of his mouth and it was dripping all over us. Still have the shirt I wore with the dried up “blood” on it. I’ve been to lots of concerts, but front row center at the Kiss concert?!?! Nothing else like it!
Definitely need to check out the live version
Glad you did this; I LOVE THIS SONG! Growing up (in the 70s), my friends and I always played Kiss concert during the night hours, complete with lights and such. I was always Gene.
YES! YES! You guys have to see this Live! Gene fly's into the rafters of the lighting and then sings this song with his face covered in Blood! AWESOME site to behold!
Both Gene and Paul sing Shout it out loud it's a great rock anthem. Also their space man, Ace Frehley began singing tunes in 1977 you must hear Shock me
It's so amazing knowing that you're discovering all this great music
HELL YEAH...back when KISS was still "heavy." This tour (Destroyer) stopped in my town, and it was the first concert I ever saw...twelve years old camping out for tickets lol.
My favorite song from them. Paul Stanley actually wrote this song for Gene Simmons. Fits Gene Simmons perfectly.
Ironically, even though God of Thunder is considered Gene's signature song, it was actually written by Paul Stanley. It was producer Bob Ezrin's idea for Gene to sing it. BTW, those kids you hear are Ezrin's kids.
I just luv you guys!!!!
I just finished commenting on the Pilot video and bam, you came up with this. Like I said in the other video, I am a bassist. well when this album came out, I was a teenager, about 16. I was starry eyed over Gene and the boys with this album and Alive. Come January 1, 1977, I got to see them LIVE. I was hooked.8 rows from Gene Simmons in his heyday. I was already learning how to play bass at that point, and decided that night, yup, I want to do THAT. I never got the breaks but I still play and I still try to put on a show but I will never equal ( nor will they) that show back when I had just turned 17. This pic of me on the left is actually me onstage with funky lighting.
Son los mejores. KISS es una banda legendaria del corazon. Gracias por esta reaccion amigos. Saludos desde Ecuador.
1st time(of many) I saw Kiss was New Years eve 1975 at Nassau Coliseum in NY. Opener Leslie Wests hair went up in flames as they left stage(no encore lol). Then Blue Oyster Cult and then Kiss with orchestra standing room(no seats) came out at midnight. Managed to slide and angle myself to about 20 ft. In front of Paul Stanley. Was pretty drunk too and had to go back to my seat after about 1 hour because the volume was off the charts! It was like getting hit in the chest with a fist and I couldn't take it anymore. One of the most spectacular shows I ever saw, ears were ringing for days, lol. It compelled me to see them many times over the years.
Alright...you guys have done a few KISS songs, but honestly, y'all have just barely dipped your toes into the incredible ocean that is KISS. They have been my very favorite band for over 45 years. This song was on their Destroyer album, which was the very first 8 track tape I bought as a young man back in 1978. I think I was around 10-11 years old. Gene is also the front man on Rock and Roll All Night and a few others. There is SO MUCH KISS that you haven't even seen the tip of the iceburg. You wanted the best, you've got the best! Love you guys!
Kiss at the Sydney Cricket Ground was my first ever concert. It was a rock and roll circus. Loved every minute
Gene has a pretty versatile voice and even sings some ballads! 🤘🤘🤘
My favorite Kiss song and one of my all time favorite songs. I was 5 years old listening to this song over and over.
I was in the front row in 77 at my first concert. Best show ever!
In the seventies, every KISS member sang lead on at least a few songs. Paul was the one who would be the frontman who would officially address the audience. Initially for the first four studio albums, only Paul Gene and Peter sang lead on songs, but then Ace wrote and recorded Shock Me that was recorded on Love Gun in ‘77, (he didn’t sing any songs prior to that because he wasn’t comfortable with singing, but he eventually got over it). Gene and Paul wanted KISS to be like the Beatles in the sense that every member would sing lead on songs, at least one song. This is the band that got me into hard rock as a child in the seventies.
I always love watching your videos, they bring to my face every time; you guys are like friends that I haven’t personally met yet! You two have a great week!
You can't beat the sound and seeing it live and in person. It's AWESOME!!!!
"Spit", "Thou Shalt Not", and "Domino" are all great Gene fronted songs, and they're all on the SAME album. That album is called Revenge. Any one of them will give you a more recent look at Gene out front.
Me and my brother bought all the albums back when we were 12-15 years old.passed them on to a younger soul at a rummage sale. I later bought some of those albums on CD. The live and Double Platinum albums are awesome. I LOVE IT LOUD on KISS LIVE III is one of the heaviest I have heard!
You need to watch a live version where gene does his bass solo simply bc this song was a staple in their shows and you need the vidual to get it
There's nothing like a kiss concert , I've seen them 4 times, and I've never been disappointed .
Your reaction is priceless🤩🤩
I caught KISS in Frankfurt Germany back in late 70's, my High school friend was on the front row, where Gene Simons' spit fake blood all over my friend. He did not bath for 2 weeks.....
yes I am a member of the Kiss Army!! Rob Squad i have one for you to listen to, power ballad "Screaming In The Night" by Krokus I'll be watching for your reaction on that tune
Loved your reaction Amber and it would be funny to play that song through the speakers on Halloween lol
Literally have NOT heard this song since 1976. You guys are definitely keeping an open musical mind.! Jay, you would have been a KISS fan in the day (like 13 year old me). Cheers.
Love the performance on KISS ALIVE II!

You have to do KISS - War Machine live in Detroit 1984 . Gene Simmons sings live and at the end you’ll soo one of the things Gene Simmons is known for live 🔥!
I remember having "Destroyer" on eight track when I was a kid..., damn I'm old lol........ great reaction guys...
I haven't heard this since I was about 16 , a long time ago, great fun, thanks.
Timbuk 3 "Life Is Hard" (Official Music Video)
God of Thunder is my absolute favorite Kiss song. Glad you guys did this one!
I was 8 years old when this album came out. My late grandmother thought KISS was evil incarnate which sealed the deal for me 😂
Knights In Satan's Service ... heard that from many people back in the day. My mother laughed about it and talked about how Elvis was the evil one in her day. 😆
“Christine Sixteen” also sung by Gene Simmons. You’ll like it. Just keep in mind the age of consent at that time was 16.
When I was 10 years old Alive 2 hit and my mother got me the album, I played the grooves off of the thing, but this was my fave song on the album.
