Congrats, Steve. It's good to see "Lites" in your video. I've known John for years. If you ever want to know the true meaning of "Top Gun," Google John Leenhouts. As far as I know, he still holds the record for the most carrier "traps" (landings) of any Naval Aviator in history. He sets the standard. A true officer and a gentleman. aviationartstore.com/page/blue-angel-navy-and-marine-aircraft-directory/a-7-john-lites-leenhouts/
That just about brought a tear to my eye. I've wanted to fly since I was maybe 5 or 6 years old....I'm now 57. Got my private in 1990, bought my first plane in 2011 and finally got my instrument last August. The aircraft you get to fly and the places you get to fly to are spectacular. Love what you do for GA and am super happy for you. Living the dream for yourself and all of us who missed the boat. Keep up the good work, Steveo. Maybe we'll meet up some day in beautiful Colorado.
Congrats Steveo. Beautiful plane, beautiful country. Much deserved praise, as you are a true ambassador to the world of aviation. Keep workin on that jump shot bud.
Congrats Steveo!! You are truly deserving of this and have always been a great Ambassador to The Bahamas for a long time. No one shows off The Bahamas like you do to the point where most Bahamians don't get to see what you see. As a proud Bahamian I'm glad you have a true love for the islands like I do. Continue doing your thing!!
Congratulations Steveo really cool reception by the fire trucks. We came in to N.Y harbor in 1956 on a maiden voyage of a ship and got the same reception from the fire boats it was memorable I am sure you will always remember that day.
Congratulations Steveo! I can't think of anyone who has promoted the Bahama Islands like you have in your videos. The water cannon salute was a once in a lifetime experience! You are king in the Bahamas according to the Ministry of Tourism!
That was a beautiful flight... from Takeoff to Landing!! As a retired Firefighter... the water cannon salute was t he icing on the cake!! CONGRATULATIONS AMBASSADOR!!
Amazing! And Big Congratulations! Well deserved honor..as no one in aviation channels has quite shown off the Bahamas like you have, and the stunning footage you guys got on this trip just adds to that! LOL'd so hard when you seen the fire trucks, as I would have said the same thing "my landing wasn't That bad!" "is everything on the plane? feels alright" but what a honor and display there. Only wish I was was 1 of the lucky people who flew out of Sun-n-Fun to the event after. One last add; that Cirrus is amazing as well..to have a GA plane tell you lower altitudes and 'highway-in-the-sky' much less it's other features is mind blowing..yes I'm showing that I'm getting old(er) but the Glass cockpit is beautiful in that aircraft. Great video, and a milestone in your life!
A well deserved honor! You have been a proud and gracious ambassador for the Bahamas for many years already. The water cannon salute was sweet. Congratulations
Congratulations Steveo, well deserved because we have learned so much about the Bahamas from you over the years! You probably put the Bahamas bug in quite a lot of people!
Hey Steveo, many many congratulations on your Bahamas Ambassadorship. I loved this video - honestly got goosebumps for you at the end with the water cannon salute. That would be a real honour for any aviator. Richly deserved for making some awesome content, keep it up mate. Congratulations again, Stef.
Great video, and congratulations on your new ambassadorial role Steve! Here's another little true tale why Freeport and Rock Sound is special to me. When I was a kid in school in England in the 1970's, I was mad on aviation. I wrote to airports around the world and asked for airport charts and any other info they could send me. About the only ones who replied were Freeport and Rock Sound! Unfortunately, my academics (especially maths) were not so good at school to pursue a career in aviation. Long story, short - in the late 1980's I had a chance to free up some real estate and go to flight school for a UK Commercial Pilots Licence and Instrument Rating. After some hard graft at flying school I achieved this in September 1990 at the age of 34. Unfortunately that coincided with a cyclical downturn in the aviation world, and I resorted to some flying in the USA to keep my hours up (worked out a third of the cost of flying in the UK). I hired aircraft from Naples Air Center in Florida, and in November 1992 managed to fly my wife to lunch in Freeport (with steak dinner at West Palm Beach on the way back to Naples). What a day trip! But know what ….. I made a point of going up to the tower and offices at Freeport and donating a $100/- charity gift for them to use at their discretion …. and all for encouraging and responding to a young kid in England with a nice letter and an airport chart! I did the same thing at Rock Sound a year later when we did a little mini tour of Harbour Island and Eleuthera in the Bahama's. And no, I never did get that CPL job, and ended up working in the Financial Services industry …. but no regrets at all. I achieved (and strived for) my dream, and with the encouragement of some kind souls at Freeport and Rock Sound, I was spurred on my way. Go well Steve. Great channel, and brilliant, professional, safe flying is always eschewed from your videos.
Congratulations Steveo, well deserved. And you have always been an ambassador for flying in Bahamas with your channel. Thanks for sharing all those magnificent experiences with us. Keep up that great working, superior airmanship and humbleness. Best regards.
Congratulations sir!!! A well deserved position, (hope it comes with a nice salary ;-) Thank you for giving your father a shout out as well as telling him you loved him!!! I'm 53 and lost my father in February, always wish I could give him 1 more hug and tell him how much I/we love him 1 more time... Not sure when it stopped being "cool" to show affection for your parents, but I for one am hoping you will start a "new cool trend" to show proper affection for them!!! We had many adventures together as I was a pilot, (lost my medical several years ago), and I had many friends who were also pilots, when they needed a safety pilot, my father was always invited too:-) Fly safe sir, and enjoy your new title :-)
Congratulations Steveo! What a great accomplishment and well deserved to, every time you have done a video of the Bahamas you've only had good things to say. You will be a awesome ambassador congrats again, happy flying
Congratulations Steveo. Its been a pleasure following you in your career. Riding along in the copilot seat in your videos has always been a blast. Best of luck for your next adventures. Keep the dream alive and the videos coming. Safe flying and landings. Congratz.
Steve, we've never met. I am so proud of the professional way you handle your planes and your ego. The Bahamas were super smart to pick you as their Flying Ambassador. Congratulations!
Congrats Steve on you Bahama flying ambassador. love the site, watch all the time. I have to say you give great guidance when flying, easy to follow you and enjoyable to watch.
Congratulations man on you being a Flying Ambassador, well deserved indeed! Got to admit got a little emotional the moment I saw those water canons open up for you! Thanks for all those awesome vids SteveO, you truly are one epic FlyingAmbassador to us, all your viewers, kudos!!
A year late but Congratulations Steveo. Your videos alone have caused me to plan on a Bahamas visit or ten. The water cannon salute is a true honor. Well Done.
Congrats, Steveo! With all your trips to the Bahamas, you have done for them a great service, so this is rightly deserved. I'm sure we'll be seeing more in depth videos from you in the Bahamas now. Again, congrats, it's well deserved.
Congrats Steveo. You definitely deserve the recognition. I’ve never been to the Bahamas but I plan to in the near future. I love your videos. Thanks to Nate for the SR22 turbo ride along. My favorite plane. I need to hit the Lottery to buy one.
Outstanding video and it is very appropriate that you be named as an Aviation Ambassador. It’s hard to thing of anyone who has recently done more for aviation in the Bahamas, or in a greater sense for flying in general. This video was great, and I hope you will continue to share all of your flying experiences with us. Thank you man.
Congrats, Steveo! Great sightseeing, as always; your approach in the rain reminded me of flights I did into Martha's Vineyard the last two years. One thing I appreciated seeing in this video is the pre-takeoff briefing your passenger went through. It's something that really should be standard with light singles, but I was never really exposed to as an in-cockpit practice until I began flying twins. This should be standard for single engines as well.
Congratulations from Canada Steveo! The water canon salute and ceremony were well deserved. You have shown us those beautiful islands for a while. I found you recently thru RUclips recommendations after watching Trent Palmer and have watched back a little - the Bahamas Dept of Tourism has clearly been doing the same!
Whoa, Stevo, gotta hand it to you, that’s bad you-kno-what!! You are thee man! Kudos! Hats off to Nate as well, you both livin’ the life, I can dig it. Safe travels
The best SCUBA diving I've seen in the Bahamas was at Cat Island. We dove near Old Bight, on the west side of the island. Water was crustal clear, like swimming in air and the coral was healthy and unmolested due to lack of diving traffic. My wife is a timid diver and wanted to stay around 30 feet but once in the water we found the visibility so great we were at 90 to 100 feet in no time. Saw huge schools of hammerhead sharks and rays. Beautiful place to dive.
Congrats Steveo, love watching your videos. I'm a PPL that flies out of KHWO and I was born and raised in Freeport! Nice to see my country making great connections. Would love to fly with you someday over there and show off some local spots.
Congrats, Steve! What an amazing experience just to watch that reception, can only imagine what it actually was like. So well deserved. Thank you for all your effort put into all your solid vlogs!
Congratulations Steve! Although I still think you DJ on the side, I'm certain that being a Flying Ambassador is a huge honor and a compliment to your expertise as a pilot. Congrats again. Keep flying and stay safe!
Congratulations ! Steveo on being chosen to be A Flying Ambassador to The Bahamas ! I loved the water cannon salute you received while you were landing . Thanks for sharing the experience . Cheers Buddy !
Huge congrats Steve, your videos on youtube and your undeniable passion for flying are one of the highlights of my week. Keep doing what you do so well and thank you.
Hey Steve, Another great video! I used to build the wings for the Cirruss SR22 G2 awhile back in Duluth, Mn. My brother inlaw still makes the wiring harnesses for them. They are really nice planes to fly. Glad you liked it.
Awesome video! I am 6 hours into my PPL and your channel helped give me that kick I needed to really start my training a couple of months ago. Thank you for the great content hopefully one day we will share the skies for a time! Safe flying!
Steveo says, "Don't typically fly this plane, but I greased that landing like a boss." Lol! Great video! Glass bridge looks beautiful. What a well equipped aircraft. Thanks!
