- Oh. My. Deftones. So here's the thing. I'm sure this song is not literally about knives, but once I got that idea in my head, there was no turning back. A song called "Knife Prty" (where's the a?) featuring a screaming woman? I put two and two together. In any case, this was fun.

The song is about a strange party on the Deftones tour bus where everyone grabbed a knife from Abe Cunningham (drummer) knive collection. And everyone started dancing around the bus with them.
Chino Moreno then made a fantasy about a secret knife society from that party.
It is just a fantasy from Chino’s mind
This guy has a wild imagination.
One thing I love about him; he draws inspiration from some of the silliest things and turns them into something beautiful.
From what I can tell it's about Heroin.
A knife is a needle.
That's why the fiends are all on the block.

I thought this song was a clever metaphorical description of a junk house. Everyone has their "sharp and chrome" needles, loosing blood ( hence anemic); and who can stand after a shot to the arm ( lay down)? The killer is: " i could float here forever... can't touch the floor." Does that sound like a slumber party knife celebration?

Me and my crew have been talking about the meaning of this song for years. Say what you want but this is our interpretation. After hearing Our thoughts on it, Listen to the song again. I guarantee, you will come to the same conclusion.

The girl screaming in the song is cutting herself and dying. The time she is screaming is the time it takes a person to die when they cut themselves. She becomes anemic and happy when she goes to a place where everyone is anemic, from cutting themselves and dying.
As far as I can see, no one has yet asked the most important question: why was your player set on double speed?
Maybe this is depending on the actual player you use, but that usually does not happen by accident, so I am hoping for an interesting story :)
And I also want you to imagine, how the wailing part would've sounded like at double speed!
LOL I watch a lot of videos so if I watch them on double speed, I can watch double the videos in the same amount of time. :) I do this for diy videos mostly or something like a "shop with me" kind of thing. Sorry, not that interesting. :D

Chino's lyrics come from weird places or things that really only make sense to him lol. It's just how he approached songwriting and it's how he does it. Unfortunately, he sucks live. You may find a handful of videos on YT where he sounds decent that isn't from the 90s. Saw them live with A7X and he really disappointed. I know there's a lot of their songs you still should check out, but this one guy took Britney Spears song "Toxic" vocals and put it over Deftones "Change" instruments and it's one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. You should check it out! (Called 'Toxic Change')
The issue was seeing them when they aren't the headliner. The tour after that was awesome.

@@some_Phreak Whether you headline or not shouldn't matter at all. I saw LoG go second after the opener on the Main Stage at Mayhem Fest in high school. Randy was sick and still screamed his ass off and put on a hell of a show. There's no excuse, but I still love them. I'll just never see them live again lol.
@@modifidious7171 When I saw LoG at a Metallica show they were completely lackluster. I would argue that when you know the headliner will kill it you lose at least a little motivation.

I never quite understood the love for this song that seems to be out there in Reaction-land... I'm like you, I'm not a fan of those random, wailing, high-pitched vocals. I love the White Pony album, but this track doesn't get a lot of play from me just because of that.
